These are the best videos for anyone who’s serious about learning bonsai. The videos are long and maybe that’s why the number of views are surprisingly low. But it’s also why they are so informational and educational. This is like the university of bonsai for anyone who wants to learn. Thank you!
I totally agree. I am new into Bonsai. About 6 month. I saw alot of Videos and it is pritty logical to me because i have studied wood Management , so i already knew alot about the biologie soil etc. Never the less this Videos i need to repeat much more because they are packed with information! Also he links the knew knowledge about Bonsai to my old knowledge very well, and i can tell already that he knows his buisness very well! Looking forward to learn more!
Thank you, thank you. This isthe most comprehensive wiring instruction of bonsai. Your instruction is as professional as I have seen, without doubt. Keep them coming.
The single most important video for any beginner, or even advanced bonsai hobbyist. Not only does he give a clear, comprehensive masterclass on detail and structural wiring, he reviews pruning decision making, branch movement, and touches on the overall design and function of branches and pads. I'll be re-watching this video several times. Ryan is the best bonsai communicator I've ever heard. He deserves our patronage.
This is one of the most comprehensive videos I have seen on wiring. Really love how you cover the branch selection and cleaning. Saving this video for future reference.
as non english speakers, he did so good in speaking every english word. That make me easier to learn and knowing the words.. thank you so much for sharing and respect to Mr Neil ..
Hey mate, just wanted to say thank you for this video! It’s unreal, just what I needed. I wired a tree last week then watched this and wired another and tree today and the difference is miles apart.. so many easy, simple points that make the world of difference
Very detailed and appreciated… thank you for posting such great content. Really enjoyed the camera angles as well. Easy to see and understand! Thanks again.
I have learned more about wiring from watching two of your videos than I have from watching dozens and dozens of other people’s videos. Thank you, again, for sharing your skills and expertise.
I have watched this amazing demonstration several times in noticed that I missed some of process ,each time I watched more and more made sense thank you Ryan every video is fantastic and loads of information.
Great great video. I love your presentation style and your public speaking skills. No stuttering, no digressing, just straight to the points with a quick pace. Thank you for all that you share.
When I first started working with junipers, I was a bit confused about what you should and shouldn't do. A bit intimidated even. But after watching some grow for a few years, and experimenting, they have become a favorite of mine. This video is hand's down the best I've ever seen, when it comes to explaining what stays, and what needs to go. No more fighting through foilage trying not to crush or break anything. Thanks
Fairly new to this beautiful art form (and I'm no artist). So far, this is the most comprehensive and instructional video for the beginner that I've seen. Thanks so much for this.
Vary Descriptively inFormed, well critiqued & passionately conveyed lesson in which extremely help me Cognitively retainable the whole process. I really get it now! ,a lot less anxiety on my approach for sure!-you really are a master teacher of your craft -I give you 5+⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ +10 out 10 all the way !-on this whole lesson !With the approach ,Awareness & techniques Etc. (well done !👍🏻)
I'm very glad you have provided this information. Only15minutes into it and I have already learned a ton. Thanks. Edit: I've only been at this for about two years, in the past hour and twenty minutes I have learned more about wiring than the entire rest of that time. Great info
Thanks. I need it. There is no bonsai clubs or anything like that near where I live so I have pretty much been guessing on what to do. After two years I have finally had one survive and look ok. If I can keep it alive this summer and through the next winter, I will consider it a success. 😜
This is the one video I have been missing, lots of wires but the Second / Teritary really helped explain, on my 15th Bonsai and they keep getting better.
It's incredible the precision and amount of knowledge you are putting online for everyone to have, you are a hero ! You should have a million followers !
Some freaking people were born to teach,it's that simple! I don't know 1 thing about any of the until about 4-5 days ago & been searching & watching tons of vids day and night. Well after all these days & hr upon hrs i still couldn't tell you shit about shit but only hlf way thru this one & i finally see/get/understand wth is going on, geesh finally. So brother hats off to u & freaking thank you for saving me from the insanity. Liked, subbed, saved,& will watch everything you have. TY God bless
These free videos are incredibly rich in content. Well produced and Ryan is a great teacher that knows how to get a message across. Making complex material easy to digest. To imagine that this is only about 10% of what you'll get for signing up! Thank you for opening the occasional video and educating us. I am just a green fingered amateur with a broad interest in growing stuff and gardening. I have some nursery trees that I try to convert to bonsai but when I decide to get more focused on bonsai I will definitely sign up. Thank you Bonsai Mirai.
Philip Evans Excellent video, not only do you explain how, but you explain the thought process on how and why to place the wire for the most effective way to apply wire.
Instead of "inside to out" or "close side to far side" depending on where you are sitting you could use "proximal" or "distal" like in human anatomy so its not ambiguous. Thanks for the great video!
Thank you Ryan! As a newbie the knowledge I have gained from your videos is in a different league to anything else online. You have left me with one point of confusion, around the placement of structural wiring under or over structural branches. You mention briefly to place wire over the shoulder if moving branch up or under shoulder if bending branch down. This is opposite what I've been led to believe. Could you provide a bit more clarity pls.
For those asking about the structural wiring video it is on the bonsai mirai website but you must pay a subscription. I've been doing bonsai nearly 30 years and am not affiliated with mirai in any way but for the money you will not find greater value for money.
I have never followed any rules as the only.books when I started was Bonsai Today. 33 years later and 2 bonsai businesses, now retired….I still follow no rules and have a beautiful collection of about 30 trees. If Internet was around 34 years ago, I may have adapted to rules.
Brilliant. I have learnt so much I am interested in viewing the structural wiring video as well but I am battling to find it. Can someone help me with a link please.

Over 33 years doing bonsai. No matter how much you know. The true artist always seems to be naturally better at creating the best bonsai.
This probably “the” best tutorial on wiring I’ve ever seen . Sensei Ryan thank you for the class.
I can’t get enough of these super long form educational content. I will watch them all over and over. This channel deserves to be Soo much bigger

Long but very detailed and methodical. An absolute must-watch if you want to make more intelligent wiring decisions going forward!
I started saying "too long, will watch forwarding" and ended in 3 hours with many rewindings. great job.
