I use RPCS3 on my Ryzen 7 7840HS which is a 8 cores 16 threads and it works great for all the games I play and most of them aren't even noted as playable on the compatibility list. Do you have any experience with RPCS3 running on Macs? I have access to M2-based laptops with either 8gb or 16gb of ram. I have a few PS2 games I never experienced which I want to play through using PCSX2 (which works fine most of the time, unless I try to enhance the visuals too much) but then I wanted to move on to the PS3 era to play some of the games I played/could've played back in the day (I was an xbox360 owner as a kid). Do you reckon the M2 mac will suffice for RPCS3?
you can do rpcs3 using a ryzen 3600 no problem. you just need to not exceed console specifications so whatever the game originally ran on so drakenguard 3 being 720p 30fps. avx512 is not necessary. it can give a solid improvement in efficiency of upto 30% in some games but mainly it's there for those looking to upscale or do 60fps mods. Around the time this video was released there were massive performance increases of practically double the frames due to overhauling the SPU code as well.
@@main_tak_becus6689 many reasons. this console is 18 years old. that means controllers are failing. the store does not work well, many limitations compared to pc, like data loading times, more ergonomic solutions to play, playing backups of your stuff if your ps3 failed (the phats are know to have memory issues now), save states...

(Before I started the video) The "Does it suck" on the thumbnail feels like jumping with the gun straight away, I won't deny it's super hard to run at all, and even if I'm no programmer, I can at least know the PS3 system as a whole is a massive B*tch to emulate or just make games on it, so much so Sony doesn't seem to be able to do it themselves. So I'm dead serious when I say this, I think the RPCS3 Team deserves as much praise as they need just for this emulator to exists how it is now. Alright, now I can't wait to eventually be proven wrong by watching the video 😊
Lmao, I was scared I’d make a cameo in that vid. Glad I didn’t ask any questions that sounded stupid. Also, sadly yes. This emu is hard to run. My steam deck can’t run it. Maybe legion go will do the job? I will find out soon enough.
it runs on my legion go but i've not really thrown anything too heavy at it yet. Was getting about 35-60fps on infamous with an average of about 45. Tekken 5, Tag HD run fantastic.
Man, I just wanted to play Uncharted, Infamous and other PS3 exclusives on the emulator, but here it's 20 fps or below. There is also the Xbox 360 emulator, Naruto exclusives are never playable with decent fps or without glitches.
I've only get less than 30 on uncharted 2 with R7 5700X with many stutters... Thankfully it runs Motorstorm pacific, demon souls, ICO and Shadow of The Colossus just fine.
Rpcs3 is cpu heavy but you can play on 2k or 4k upscale xenia is gpu heavy but you can't play on 2k or 4k it's need rtx 4090 to get 60fps!!!! The situation of emulators is very poor even after years of updates
We are stuck with a bunch of incapable devs working on these 2. Heck Xenia is even more of a mess, with every "build" there's always a huge downgrade in it, they're not even capable of doing simple resolution scaling (uhh graphics will break hurr durr). I use RPCS3 on my Ryzen 7 7840HS which is a 8 cores 16 threads and it works great for all the games I play and most of them aren't even noted as playable on the compatibility list. Also no, 6 cores can be enough for RPCS3 the Ryzen 5 7600X(the 7600X is a bit more powerful than my Ryzen 7 7840HS) can play almost all games.
What's the point then emulating? lol
@@main_tak_becus6689 many reasons. this console is 18 years old. that means controllers are failing. the store does not work well, many limitations compared to pc, like data loading times, more ergonomic solutions to play, playing backups of your stuff if your ps3 failed (the phats are know to have memory issues now), save states...
so i have two build the first one works great for rpcs3.Amd 5 5600x gtx 1600 s and 16 ram. the second I5 12600kf 1070 sc and 4x8ram, seems to just crash on this. anything i am doing wrong
Is just that your storage is full and you gotta delete everything
The new Apple M series of chips can run it very well. I get great performance even in dynasty warrior games with shit flying everywhere
I've used it on my newish laptop for a number of fighting games and the 3 souls games and I'm very happy with it.
I play on i5 12400f + 1060 6Gb still crashed almost game, I dont know reason why? maybe it is rpcs3 emulator fails
me too just posted. Amd's Zen 3 build seems to be very functional since this emulator really uses the cpu. actually i have 12600kf, but same here
Lmao, I was scared I’d make a cameo in that vid. Glad I didn’t ask any questions that sounded stupid. Also, sadly yes. This emu is hard to run. My steam deck can’t run it. Maybe legion go will do the job? I will find out soon enough.
I was respectful. It was not my intention to embarrass anyone lol.
it runs on my legion go but i've not really thrown anything too heavy at it yet.
Yes, 7th-gen emulation is a bit messy. All we can do it wait.
What's your pc specs bro?
@@Aashu66 I5 9400F and RX 570
Enough for PS3 games but not for PS3 emulator lol
If you buy a 12th gen Intel CPU new after 2022, you'll probably won't have avx512 either, Intel disabled it by hardware from factory.
I keep getting blue screen pc crashes . With rpcs3 and I dont know. games work great until I crash and they dont work right after that
I've only get less than 30 on uncharted 2 with R7 5700X with many stutters... Thankfully it runs Motorstorm pacific, demon souls, ICO and Shadow of The Colossus just fine.
I hear Uncharted 3 runs better than Uncharted 2. So give it a chance.
Rpcs3 is cpu heavy but you can play on 2k or 4k upscale
xenia is gpu heavy but you can't play on 2k or 4k it's need rtx 4090 to get 60fps!!!!
The situation of emulators is very poor even after years of updates
You're right, but don't tell the developers of RPCS3. They'll get a hissy fit and ban you from their Discord server. That's what happened to me.
@@n-tertainmentx-tended4760 I'm not interested to get ban 😂
We are stuck with a bunch of incapable devs working on these 2. Heck Xenia is even more of a mess, with every "build" there's always a huge downgrade in it, they're not even capable of doing simple resolution scaling (uhh graphics will break hurr durr).
I guess since RPCS3 is so old, they started the coding on the wrong foot, and it needs atleast 10 years more to be good.
Microcode update disabled avx512 on 12th gen intel, I have the 12700k so I can confirm this. You can do nothing..
Really? So maybe early versions of Alder Lake still have AVX512?
@@n-tertainmentx-tended4760 My cpu is by day one. All motherboard are updated with new microcode :(
It’s sad… at the beginning you had to turn off ecore to get avx512, but now is not possible anymore. Maybe you can revert back to older bios, but on my asus z690 tuf I cant revert back, is not permitted
@@ON1MUSH4 Did you update the BIOS on purpose. I mean, normally you have to flash a BIOS, right? It's not necessarily a simple process.
@@n-tertainmentx-tended4760 yeah man you can let out to date your bios, it’s heavily not recommended, for some reasons often bios updates are needed, security, compatibility, you just can’t escape, especially if you need an early version of it to keep a feature live... Also, windows updates can will include microcode updates as part of the operating system updates (and it’s included in this case). So you just can’t escape. The only way is closing your system into a crystal ball taking outside of internet. It’s sad but it’s real. Not worth the effort.
ist the 11th Gen also affected by that?
Desktop UHD 630 is 75/100 from PS3 GPU level & running RPCS3 with this is kinda unfair to 75% level of ps3 GPU....
Good video.
My 7800X3D is doing fine...
I don't expect anything less.
I have amd 5 7600x cpu and 4060 gpu it works amazingly on rcps3 for most games
I just want to play UFC man. In my old laptop that supports the game but rpcs3 you know
my r5 5600x and my r7 5800h can run rpcs3 competently enough really, both run gran turismo 5 well enough. My r5 2600 is a whole another story, it struggles hard, since the zen and zen+ architectures struggle with AVX instructions, and zen2 and up don't have such issues anymore. No ideia how things run on the Intel side, I would imagine a i5 9600(k) and up would be fine too.
i have a 8 core 3700 i still can't get this software to run right
me sitting here with my i5-4590 and gtx 1650: 😥
Is there something wrong with Ryzen 7000? it got avx512 as far as I know
Yes, it does. I should've mentioned that in the video. Sorry.
Sort of, 256 bit and not full 512. Ryzen 9000 Will be full
Still S-tier RPCS3 CPUs.
It is so weird that we can now play ps3 games on pc but my ps5 cant and it is as powerful as a rtx 2060-2070 with kinda good processor.
It's up to Sony.
@@n-tertainmentx-tended4760 Yeah I know they dont want to lose money because ps now services are making them alot of money like shark cards in gta online
Is there any cpu/setup that can do 4k or even 1440p with stable 60 fps in sonic unleashed now?
It runs better on Xenia. If you can run it at 1080p on RPCS3, that's a win.
As said xenia runs better but I tried it on rpcs3 and got unleashed running at 2k res with roughly 60fps. I'm using an i7 13700k with an rtx 3080
AI slop
is this video all ai like the narration as well as the images provided?
Can i run god of war 3 on my 400$ acer laptop?
Try 30fps
Laptops are terrible for RPCS3 as CPU performance tends to be terrible. For a 400$ laptop I'm sorry but I'd be amazed if you get 10FPS.
So if you want to play MGS4 Guns of the Patriots if you dont have Ryzen treadripper you can forget about it?
I don't know. I could never get it to run.
@@n-tertainmentx-tended4760 darn it thats not fair
@@ivansucic9149 its more cheaper and easier to buy a ps3 directly for now
@@ivansucic9149 Running it on an i5-12400F without AVX512, and my experience was quite okay. I can't say it'd be the same for you, or if the experience is seamless, but the first hour of gameplay was way better than on the actual console for me
Mgs4 is well optimised game it may run on mid end pc
I got a ryzen 7, with a 12gb 3060 and its struggled to play the last of us.
Most of the game was between 15-25fps, with artifacts, crashes, and stuttering.
That's what many people experience, but I got a lot of flack from fanboys for mentioning this. I mean, I made a RPCS3 compilation video and have no ill will towards the developers, but they already kicked me from their Discord server. That's how open-minded they are.
Does Amd Ryzen 9 7950x support AVX 12 ?
All the latest Ryzens support AVX512.
@@n-tertainmentx-tended4760 much appreciated
Rpcs3 is amazing and is one of the best emulators out there. Almost everythign I have plays it amazingly.
I dont understand why you'd cry it doesnt work great with a 10 year old pc.
No, I have a newer pc. It was just a means of comparison...
Anyway, RPCS3 is not a person. It's a piece of software, so I don't think there's any danger of making it feel outraged.
@@n-tertainmentx-tended4760 🐐
Even without avx512 12th gen is really fast on rpcs3. Upto 5000 series ryzen, bad for rpcs3. Even i5 11600 will defeat 5800x3d.
rpcs3 is a very dissapointing emulator.. Even after 20 years from the release of PS3, it is still not reliable on most medium to high graphics game...
The most disappointing thing is the custom cell CPU found in PS3. If they went with something more straightforward the emulation and development would be much easier.
@@ProtectusCZyour IQ is low Beyond explanation!!!
@@ProtectusCZ Sony was originally going to use the SPUs for graphics processing iirc, they added the RSX when they heard Xbox 360 will have much more powerful graphics hardware.
What do you expect? A small group of people are still trying their best to improve the emulator further and further. Emulating the ps3 CPU architecture is not an easy task as the Cell processor is extremely difficult to work on
TLDR : Buy a AVX-512 CPU
Good catch.
What about Ryzen 5 ,7 CPUs laptops (6c / 12t r 8c / 16t )
I ran persona 5 at 720p/30fps with a ryzen 7 4800h 8GB pretty stable (didnt test other games)
technicality's aside its the simple fact the ps3 arcytecthure with its notisously hard coding . in a field were emualtion even if much stronger hardware can take years to develope . just look at were psx and dolphin are at and theyr not 100 percent their yet (but very close in my op) and are super solid on high end laptops with gtx1050 / 1060 equiviletns at 4k right now hom many years since they started deving on modern 2020 hardware .And these guys have no source code , sony employs devs or even time/ budget . they doing as side hustle. So give it at least 20 years before i even so much recomend rpsx3 to peopl to emulate semi reliabily for most when 8 core cpus become norm. because even with my core high i7 cpu pcs ddr3 and ddr4 gen ones i can bealry run ps2 games reralses on ps3 on rpcs3.
👍😎
What if we recompiled them for PC.
How are you going to do that without the source code?
man im with an 11gen cpu yet it still runs at 2 fps
Amazing video! I even can't play Infamous due to these incompatibilities, even though I have an i5.
It's just a very hard emulator to run, mate. And it's not going to get better on low-end hardware either. Eventually we all will have to upgrade.
@@n-tertainmentx-tended4760 yeah.
@@n-tertainmentx-tended4760 inFamous has an absurd amount of draw calls, it even runs bad on the real hardware. This has nothing to do with the emulator and has everything to do with how the devs designed the game in the first place: with seemingly no performance considerations.
