I went there from about 1975-86/87- Papa John Creech, Roger McGuin, Steve Goodman (with Robert Duvall 2 tables away from me!), Darlene Love and Paul Shaffer doing Leader of the Pack, McGuin-Clark-Hillman, Rick Danko & Levon Helm, um, um, Flying Burrito Brothers, Ronnie Spector, others! Great place to see music.

    What a maximum good time!
Springsteen, Hall&Oates, Graham Parker & The Rumour (after midnight show '78), Flo n' Eddie (with Frank Zappa for the encore '78), Little Feat, Tower of Power, Savoy Brown, Joe Jackson, George Thorogood, Bill Chinook Band, The Sharks, The Yachts...
Ran into Alan outside the club years later one afternoon. Started talking about these shows, his crazy doorman Carlos, all kinds of shit. He just gave me a big smile and said "It was good, wasn't it?"
    Yep it was.

I miss the place. All these people are talking about bigger names, but it was the place to see great west coast acts like Mike Keneally Band. One of the best shows I ever saw. Spock's Beard was a pretty great show too.

Leo Kottke, AWB (while sitting between Don Grolnick and Chic Corea at the bar) John Fahey, Preston Reed, that's all I can remember at the moment...yes, Bring It Back!!

As a postscript...I know it sounds impossible to believe but you really HAD to be there. There was no analogue to TBL at that time. None...listening to the people sharing was unbelievable. The diversity of musical talent presented was mind-boggling.
The only places remotely like it today would be maybe The Turning Point Cafe in Piermont NY and the World Cafe in Philly.

Great job Sandi. I miss The Bottom Line so much. It's so sad to walk last that corner and it not be there. Here is a piece I wrote about it when Stanley died.musiccitymike.net/2013/03/09/r-i-p-stanley-snadowsky-co-founder-of-the-bottom-line/

T B L, was a nightly, inspiration for me,...back to NYC in 76 and became friends and a songwriting partner with Jae Mason, R.I.P., the doorman, who had a couple of Buddha label records under his belt,... became his sidekick. We went on Mike Finnigan;s bus up to JP's with Jimmy Buffet, who also was on the bill, got us all Steak dinners at 4 am, ...always remember a double bill w/ Mongo Santamaria & Ray Barreto..Jobim, u could hear a pin drop,,Bromberg, Taj, Tower of Power...a great joint..fo'sure

Eric Johnson, Dr. John, NRBQ, Vital Information, Bill Bruford, Larry Coryell, Allan Holdsworth (about 20 times), John Scofield, Bill Frisell, Nieman, Michael Urbaniak, Mark Isham, David Lindley, Steps Ahead, Michael Brecker, Sun Ra Arkestra, Joe Zawinul, many, many others. Not a big folkie here, so I didn't see any of those shows, but I would go to the jazz sausage fests there.
