This has got to be the best anti-bullying song ever written. It deserves to become known as the anthem for the bullied and downtrodden everywhere. It should be played in every school in Britain. It is a work of genius and I hope it will reach the audience it deserves. More power to you, Gaz. And to the bullied everywhere.
Gaz, this song leaves me in tears every time I hear it. It is wonderful and powerful, and I would like to send it to my old school.. the school where I was told if I "Let my hair down a bit" then the bullying would probably stop. The school where the PE teachers joined in the laughing.... It's over twenty years ago but it never goes away. It should indeed be played in every school in Britain.. Can't begin to describe the emotion in the audience at Beautiful Days. Proud to be at your set, fella.x
I can't count how many times I've watched/listened to this song, let alone sung it! It's one of my favourite songs! I'm a teen sufferig with depression after a whole lot of bullying, but then my dad showed me this song c: Thanks Gaz!
Saw Gaz at Farmer Phil's Festival this weekend. If you get the chance go and see him he is excellent live. Had a chat with him after and he is a top bloke. Bought his album "Tell it to the Beer" which is Great. Wish you all the best Gaz and predict in a year or two, you will be selling millions of albums.
I saw Gaz perform this live at The Vic last week and it nearly brought a tear to my eye.. As someone that was badly bullied from primary school 'till I left secondary school, I found it easy to relate to every word. I love that when he sings it you can tell he's letting out all that anger that victims of bullying often keep locked up inside. I'm so happy that a video of it was made.
We saw Gaz perform this at the Beautiful Days festival this August, was really touched by this and his other songs, bringing a tear to my eye on more than one occasion. Thanks Gaz, you've made our year. Rob, Linda and the Horse from Swindon
This is probably my favorite song of all time. I can relate to it in every single way. All those beatings and all the bad words, all the times they knocked me out and threw rocks at my head mean nothing to me now. Every time I listen to this song it takes away it just inspires me to be more like myself. Thank you Gaz, you are my muse x
The whole audience burst into spontaneous genuine heartfelt applause and cheering after this song at Beautiful Days. Bullies everywhere never seemed so small. Thanks Gaz :) #ProudToBeDifferent
I come back to this song so often, and all the stories and people involved in the video break my heart. I was bullied consistently for 6 years about my height, my weight and just being different and it has given me such a level of body dysmorphia and issues with my weight even now 20+ years later. Bullying is horrible, and the impact it has on peoples lives causes untold levels of anguish.
Absolutely brilliant! My 11 year old has been bullied and assaulted and this made me sob. We will definitely watch it together! This should be shown to every child everywhere! Marvellous
Listened to this for the first time in Coelbren today and have to say I loved it. Well done Gaz I will certainly keep an eye on you and not because I happen to know your Dad but because you are a great artist.
lyrics Sorry son you've got to go to school again today Coz if you don't get educated you will never find your way I know it doesn't seem it's worth it at the moment but it's true These are the best days of your life my boy, now, would I lie to you? So grab your lunch and text books, get your arse out of the door And I will drop you at the gates where I've dropped you athousand times before Do your best to learn some lessons, have some fun and make some friends You've only got a few years left and you will thank me in the end I know it's hard, but don't cry, coz these things are sent to try I know you find it hard to see but you are always going to be the bigger man Thing is Dad, you never see what happens when you go I become the primary target for every bully that I know You always taught me that the best way to avoid a bully's fist Is to ignore them and they'll move along, but that's not true is it? So I accept my daily beating with a minimum of fuss And accept the fact that that's just how it goes for kids like us For the moderately intelligent, or slightly overweight The best years of your life might not be all that fucking great I know it's hard, but I won't cry, coz these things are sent to try But I find it hard to see how I am ever going to be the bigger man I never stood a chance did I? The over weight religious kid with four eyes Everything that they put me through Made me a bigger man that all of you Then one day two decades on I'm drinking in the pub And a guy that used to kick my arse at school just wanders up He tried to be all nice to me as if everything had changed I grabbed the fucker by the throat, and then carefully explained That a decade of sustained mental and physical abuse At the hands of him and all his friends has unsurprisingly produced A good deal of repressed resentment, and the tendency to snap No I don't want to be your friend, how could you ever have thought that? And I thought you were hard! So don't cry, coz these things are sent to try And that fear you're feeling now is no comparison to how You made me feel at school, but I won't stoop to being cruel No, I'll walk away in peace, because I'm always going to be the bigger man just like doing so can sing along and not mess up the lines
i think this guy is awesome but whoever recorded and mixed this did not do it justice, it could have been done so much better and reached the amount of views that frank turner enjoys, but live on the other hand he is fucking amazing!!!!!!!
Nah. I love Mr gazs stuff. And I love this, song. But I got bullied at school. And there's only one way out. Teach your kids this: fight back. Predators only go for victims. Yeah, you'll get hurt, the first time. After that, they'll pick on some other poor sod. Not politically correct I know. But it works. "don't tread on me".

True inspiration. I wish every kid in school could see this.

My favourite Gaz Brookfield song
Saw Gaz first supporting Walk Off The Earth last September. Truly brilliant, amazing song.
This song just manages to encapsulate everything I feel about ten years of bullying so perfectly. Thank you so much.

👍🏼
Take a look at this video on UA-cam:
I'm a hippie:)
Were you the better man when you were smashing up our house and I was hiding under the covers terrified? Women don't forget stuff like that .

Where were the teachers when this was going on? Disgraceful. Worship the curriculum, ignore the student.
When it's happening: sorry, there's nothing we can do
When they're dead: It's so sad, if only we knew
