By far the best channel on UA-cam.I bought the maxpeeding rod coilovers as well for my DX hatch and thought they were a little soft too.definitely not a bad price for what you get though! I’m gonna check on the heavier load springs they have to offer.thanks for the videos dude!
pre-loading the coil-over spring reduces the available shock travel and results in an effective higher spring rate and can momentarily allow the wheel to loose contact with the road under light load conditions. Be careful with pre-loading springs for a stiffer ride by reducing shock travel.
One again, great content man. Recently got the maxpeedingrods coilers for my 89 civic SI hatch, got the fronts on, held off on the backs because I decided to swap out the rear LCAs while I was at it.. You're channel has been motivating me to get my old hatch road worthy, she's getting close!
Glad you kept two of the old coilovers on as well. Be good to see how they do over prolonged use rather than changing them all out now when the first set were still working. Never seen any good long term reports/opinions on the brand so that'll be intersting to see. Nice video.
Canada here...perfect timing...shaking my head at the extra shocks lol, it is what it is playa, you do work. I'm thinking spring rates myself...treat yourself and paint the interior...if it looks good...you feel good...feeling good= drive better...plus , nice work on a table instead of the ground eh?!...one love
Good to see new video out. Couple things I would suggest though. Best grip will come from the softest shock setting that still controls the movement. Also shocks don’t like to sit at max setting. Plus you should always ground large or high amp loads to the floor. Those side panels are not a good ground. Can’t wait to see it at the track. Hopefully have my 90 CRX Si in the next month or so.
More great content! I wanna use my CRX K24 for more drag racing. I've heard that in order to keep traction on the front, the rear springs should be stiffer. Is that true?
I have 10K front and 8K on the rear for my 91 SiR hatch with Kw V3 coilovers at the moment... feels great but seems that the front will wash out when the road is wet. For a daily driver... would prefer a 8KG front, 6KG at the back.
Love the vids. Currently got my first car. 1991 Honda civic LX but had a blown head o I z6 swapped it out and went mini me an put it on the same coilovers you got. Ur vids got me going to build a track civic
I love my Maxpeedingrods for daily on my 98 Prelude, soft enough to eat up bumps at stock height and reactive enough to take normal road corners at speed. I cant compare performance to stock coils, the passenger one was blown and bottoming out!
I've got the same bracket and battery, and its meant to mount down on the front rail. Here in Australia with out RHD cars I've mounted it down on the driver rail. The bolt holes are already there.
I've seen a lot of people use them for daily. Probably not ideal though as a daily has a lot more accessor drawing power unlike card used for motorsports purposes generally. I don't see any benefit if it's for a daily. You're better off with a regular battery.
hey man made it to the part where you’re talking about the u joint causing slop on your linkage. look up precision works shifter pin lock / roll pin adapter for d or b series on ebay. it totally cleaned up the slop on my linkage in the rex.
They have an adjustable damper model for just a touch more. That would be my choice. It's damn near the same model and K-Tuners. The difference is a slightly softer spring on the MX side which could be address with more damping. I personally prefer Max's choice of software spring rate for street.
I like that intake, it's great for the money. However i had nothing but issues on those coilovers. One of them was blown and leaking fluid straight out of the box. Went round and round with maxpeeding rods and they sent me a new damper. Finally just got tired of the terrible ride and poor fitment and unloaded them to a kid on facebook marketplace for cheap. Reinvested in function and forms and haven't looked back since
It happens with this company. They still need to continually trying to produce a better product. If not it'll be hard to continue making product if nobody is buying it anymore from bad experiences.
Jon, maybe I missed it in the video, what gauge wiring did you use for the positive cable? I’ve been thinking of relocating my battery as well so this video came at a great time!
Are the fonts maxed out on the cups to get that low ? My maxpeedingrods coil overs are maxed and the front sits a little higher then yours I’m thinking of drop forks to help get me where your set up is

I wouldn't even sweat it until you get on a track. There isn't any street driving that pushes the suspension as much as on a closed/safe environment of a track.
@@BulliKid it definitely makes them ride more harshly, and you remove dynamic rate from the coils. It really is best to run minimal preload, make sure your ride height isnt too low (so you have good bump stop travel space) and go easy on the bump/rebound
I put a set of coilovers on my 90 Civic (the one I did the ZC swap on, thanks again) and the rear ones were so stiff I thought I was going to lose my fillings. I put the original ones back on the rear and it still handles better than it did. But with over 400k I think it's time for some more TLC.

If I have to I don't mind I'm already in the process of doing and MPFI swap so it's fine, just can't find a decent answer on the forums.
My EM1 has the same style shifter you just installed. The play was terrible and I just make similar adjustments to the linkage and shifter as you did to improve the slop. Looking to maybe try out the linkage tightener that eliminates the bitch pin and see if it makes a difference. Good stuff👍
Bought these coilovers for my 89 crx. Any recommendations what I should do to improve ride quality? I know they are inexpensive and I was not expecting luxury but vs stock, I hit a small bump and almost hit my head on the roof. It sitting as high as yours and I have them adjusted to soft. Not at all. All your suspension bushings in good shape? Tires not more than 6 years old and matching size and brand? A lot of factors can affect the way your car reacts to coilovers.
do the springs have to be 2.75" to put a spring on these coilovers? Im trying to get stiffer springs but it seems to be impossible to find any springs this size.
I haven't measured them but generally Hondas of 88-01 use 2.5 ID on their coils. Maybe it just measures wider if you actually took a ruler to it. I couldn't tell ya what all the other springs from other brands measure.
@@GarageBuiltHondas Don't take this the wrong way but I'd advise against the J's Racing style filter, try to go back to your old piping and get a BPI flow stack with a filter or the CT Engineering air box (it's available from Heeltoe Automotive again).
I've lost some steam for that car. I've been thinking of throwing in another low comp b20 I have just to get it running so I can cruise it and work on it without tracking it for now.
Just FYI, if you adjust the ride height with your preload your car will never be corner balanced. Meaning you could have 100+lb weight difference from left to right and even more front/back and Cross weight. So your cornering and handling will suffer a lot. So find a shop that can corner balance your car after you find the height you want using the preload. They can get it back balanced properly.
