99% of people who lower their car do it 1x and never mess with it again. Just get a quality spring/shock combo and be done with it. Personally, I went Fortune Auto 510 w/swift spring upgrade since I could (but don’t) daily the car and road race it. Fortune Auto customer service is the absolute best as well, which is as important as the product itself.
I was the same but the adjustablity with coilovers to dial in the fitment and camber plates is a major upgrade. I previously had H&R springs with Tein Endura Pro Plus shocks. Now I am on Tein Flex Z but they ride a little soft and floayt with the twin tube dampers and 8/6 spring rate. I just picked up some FA Gen 8 500 10/6k swifts. I can't wait to see how they feel.
hello im driving a baleno 1.4L 2021 model. any suggestions for lowering this car ? having a hard time finding any brand for it. or if anyone have a suggestion for spring rate and shocks for this baleno. That would be really helpful.
MTS Technik is basically TA-Technix with Eibach springs for double the price of the TA.They even share the same part numbers, for example the front e36 struts MTS Street-MTSGWBM01 and TA-Technix-TAGWBM01.TA is probably the best budget option you can get as we all know the springs is not their weakest point.
IMO if you can't swing KW V2/3, Öhlins, MAYBE a custom Fortune Auto set, or equivalent, just don't. If all you want to do is "go low" and you don't care about grip or ride quality, you can do that cheap/free.
Thanks for the rundown. Looking to put wider wheels (Konig Heliogram 18x8.5 +42 from Fitment Industries of course) on my 2023 Mazda 3 Turbo hatch with an eye toward coilovers in the near future. How do I go about researching/determining fitment and clearance issues. It looks like with the new wheels I'll have maybe about half inch clearance on stock shock strut. Any advice would be greatly appreciated...
I have a 96 civic coupe and I see everyone in all the coilovers forums talk about Koni Yellow Struts paired with Ground Control springs and thought I would ask for your opinion
I wish I previous went with Eibach springs instead of the H&R with the Tein struts on my Accord. The H&R were too soft and noisy. I'm now on Tein Flex Z but will be swapping to FA with Swift Springs 10/6
Folks miss the value and performance of a cup kit...good set of sport dampers (Bilstein, Koni) and springs can handle it all including track. Folks are stuck that you need all this adjustability that most folks don't understand or need. The money saved can be used for more track time that will greatly improve your lap times vs. thinking suspension mods will do a thing. Coilovers are cool but aren't necessary at all to hit the track and be fast (road course). Most folks buy coilovers for no other reason to get rid of "all that finger gap bro".
what recommendations do you have for a set of koni yellows, i’m willing to sacrifice some ride quality for performance but i don’t want to second guess going over stuff(only looking to go 1-1.5” lower)
Have an idea of what you want before installing them I went from lowering springs to USED cheap Godspeed coilovers To BC racing DR coilovers I wanted the out of the box experience with the BCs thinking they knew what they were doing The BCs are WAY too low and WAY too stiff. Made the ride unbearable and the rear feels like it's on a stiff pogo stick I've narrowed it down to they just put way too much preload on out the box. The more weight I can pack in my trunk, the more comfortable the ride gets And yes, the Godspeed were actually good I loved them (the Godspeeds and BCs are on 2 different (but the same) mini coopers) I had adjusted the Godspeeds myself before install bc they were all out of wack. I literally had them on 0 preload (finger tight) and 3/16 damping
Probably just with a paint, new wheels, and a little lower. Don’t do underglow or a ugly non-useful wing, and ridiculous stickers, and no other attachable things that aren’t functional (scoops, lips, etc.) if you choose a different color than the original, white wheels could look good imo. Ik paint isn’t that cheap though. Also just purely cleaning it, like the interior and exterior, engine bay, trunk, etc. will do magic, invest into some good cleaning products. Edit: looked 03 corrola on google to see it, if you have indigo ink, impulse red, or black, white wheels will look good. If it’s already in good condition keep the oem front bumper and wing (idk if there is aftermarket stuff but the oem stuff looks good) Just my opinion🙂
I’m guessing a Sunday Funday car that is enjoyed out on the twisties would sort of fall in the daily driver category,as it’s not for show or race, but it is more aggressive than driving to work or the grocery store. What would work best for a car that falls between daily and race/ show?
What would your suggestion be for coilovers: 2013 86, will also drive when it snows, roads can be quite bumpy in my town, planning on tracking it during the summer (like maybe once a month or so) and then do some winter drifting. It will mostly be used for either short trips (15km per day) or for 450+km trips every month and like 1k+km every month total. Will most likely set 1 ride height, that suits both summer and winter and idk if it matters, but planning on keeping it as a project car, soo... like 300-400hp+ in the future (few years into the future tho)
Looking to upgrade the suspension on a gr86 but can't afford to have it super low due to pot holes and lots of elevated driveways in my area, whats the closest that coilovers can get to stock height generally? I was looking at the new koni coilovers or maybe even fortune auto.
I’ve been stuck trying to decide between Silvera NeoMax vs BC DS for my 92 civic hatchback with a B series swap. The car is gutted and has 100% suspension upgrades as far as adjustability and has a 4 point roll cage. It has the entry level Tein street basis now but I want to upgrade it. The car will be tracked but honestly be more street driven. Any advice would be great.
@@pierre-oliviermarquis2075 for 650 bucks, they’ve help up nicely, yes they are stiff but I mean can’t complain when they’ve been on for 2 years and I’ve been able to dial in the dampening without a corner balance for preload. I was also able to keep up with many faster cars on the downhill like a new cayman and s3 as well as loose people when they chased. For a budget setup, it a good start then after a while u can upgrade
I got a 97 bmw 7 series, don’t want to lower it or anything like that, just for a smooth drive, would you recommend bc racing Coilovers? Or are they more focused on track stuff?
I have Mercedes E500 4matic wagon and i want to convert from air ride to adjustable coilovers, and keep a comfortable ride. I know coilovers wont be the same as air ride, but is there any adjustable coilovers that can get me close. I going to be running 18" wheels to maintain some tire comfort. I was told bc was the way to go. I will be lowering the car a inch or little more just for appearance.
Im glad you guys continue on the business 🔥 i have a question and i hope you guys can answer. What do you think of companies such as rev9 or truhart? Both are in the $500-$600 for my civic and both have damping and camber adjustability. Thank you!
Next step up for $650 would be godspeed. I've had several of each as well as bc skunk2 and function form. For non track cars I never got more from the more expensive ones.
I've ran Truhart arms on my IS300 but haven't had firsthand experience on their coilovers yet. At that pricepoint I'd say save up a little more and look at Tein. You might lose some adjustability but you'll gain some durability from what I can see. Biggest issue I have seen with "cheap" coilovers is the bushings wearing out super fast and then you have an awful ride quality with some clunks too. - Sam
Quick question, I seen that you have the Fortune Autos on your IS300. I have a IS300 but for me its moslty going to be a daily/touge car when i want to rip it around some corners, i have seen that the BC coilovers have a lot of praise as well, but what would u recommend in getting the fortune autos, or the bc - that being DS or ER to have that adjustability and that comfort/ready to track at any point. I have a Toyota Highlander 2019, and I want to be able to lower it by an inch and lift it by an inch in winter. I'm trying to get tier 2; I'm not trying to go too low. I want to be able to drive as smoothly as possible. Which one would be best for me?
Hi. I.have a 2014 toyota rav 4 that never gaved me a nice ride. I almost never drive off road. Toyota completly changed all 4 shocks when d vehicle was about 6 mts old but the ride was still very harsh and bumpy. I am wondering what measures i can take to improve the ride. Tks. Raj.
Exactly what I was thinking. Personally, I Run the B14 coilovers, which does not have the adjustable dampers like the B16 and Cup series. However, they are amazing!!! I think a lot of car enthusiasts go for "The Look" and want heavy customization. Bilstein does not play that game. They make coilover systems that are track proven and ready to go. The one thing I notice people complain about with Bilstein is they are not very customizable. The car can be lowered maybe 1.25" from stock height, but any lower and the dampers fail. That leads to bad reviews as the people buying them are trying to lower their vehicles out of the spec of what Bilstein gives for their coilovers per vehicle application that they already tested to work. With Bilstein. The faster you go. The better they perform. The slower you drive. The harsher the ride.
We still get asked these questions all of the time haha. It's cool though because we constantly have new people coming into the scene AND we are getting more brands than ever before offering coilovers. That make the choice even harder - Sam
