    What we learn from this:
    - If you're a parent, act like one.
    - Pills don't fix everything.
    - Don't pick on people for awkward social behavior.

Pills should allways be the last resort. In many countrys (e.g. USA) the use of drugs is too normalized. I have pain? Let´s take Pills for that! I don´t feel happy and depressed? Let´s take Pills for that. It´s an attitude that have to change. After surgery for example, in germany you get Ibuprofen not opioids. Because feeling pain helps you know your limits to spare your body from other injurys. And you don´t get fucking addicted as easily. Have a normal headache? Ever tried just to sleep, or drink mor water and wait for the pain to fade away in an hour or two? It´s an attitude! Parents stop druging your kids!

@@shaylanacub2978 I have dual citizenship so it is always a shock to see one of the medication adverts come on the telly in America. We don’t have them. I listen to the side effects and think ‘who in bloody Hades would chance that?’ I’ve refused to pick medication up from the druggist in the States. I don’t need 4 medications for a sinus infection! Thankfully my husband understands when I explained why taking this with this is not going to help. One is to take the side effects away from the other. It wasn’t until our kids wanted to attend secondary school in America that they were getting sick all the time. We took them back to Ireland for every break and they were right as rain. Bizarre. AND, if pills fixed everything we’d have far less daft among us! They need to stop everything and work on that! 🤣

Speaking as someone who snapped one day, yeah, you're right. Just because "well they shouldn't hurt people" is also the right answer doesn't give other people the pass to be needless assholes. I have autism which already puts a damper on my social skills, and in high school in 2016 I was very mentally ill (with no mental help resources, we tried getting help but healthcare is expensive and I live in the USA) and I was already dealing with severe trauma (to where I got a PTSD diagnosis some years later) from having lived in an abusive home where I was sexually violated on the regular and had only recently been removed.
I was bullied relentlessly because I couldn't socialize and because my reactions from getting upset were ""funny"" and the school wouldn't do jack about it. An older girl (a grade or two above me, I don't remember her actual name so we'll call her Chloe) would follow me around and put her hands on me, steal my things, and then Chloe would corner me in the bathroom and molest me. I went to the Vice Principal about it and asked to have my schedule changed and he said "Girls can't do that to other girls." and refused to change my schedule.
It was a week or so after trying to go to him that I snapped. I wanted to die, I had no support, and I had no hope for my future. That Monday I stole an Xacto knife from the art classroom and I fully planned on killing Chloe with it, and then myself after lunch when she would inevitably get me into the bathroom again.
The ONLY reason why we're both still alive today was because I encountered her earlier than normal and I flipped out on her when she started in on her bullshit, calling her a dirty STD-ridden whore and how worthless she was, among other really nasty emotional-fueled insults. Like, REALLY flying off the handle.
APPARENTLY that's when the VP decided that oh, a schedule change was needed, and then I got ISS (in school suspension) because of my inappropriate behavior.
And as for now, I managed to get into therapy, got pulled out of school after another bully threatened to jump me at the bus stop and the school STILL did nothing about it and spent the last year and a half of my high school days with online schooling and gotten a LOT better.

@@x77punk77x It's also not a free pass to be a dick to others for no reason. Both answers are correct: you shouldn't instigate, and you shouldn't kill people in the first place. The difference is with mental illness, people either don't think or just don't care. Not every possible killer is mentally ill, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

I don't want to say Elijah deserved what happened to him, but I feel little sympathy for someone so heartless picking on the weakest link in the room. People like that provoke people into snapping and thinks it's funny until it's not. All these organizations set out to help those struggling with whatever it is they’re comprised of & created for are a slap in the face for those who genuinely need/want help. This is sadly the case so often for these cases, but I recognise many of my own autism symptoms in David (social awkwardness, lack of eye contact, skill in a particular interest, etc.) The fact that he was picked on for these qualities is all the more poignant. I saw the start of it myself years ago (before diagnosis), and although I've thankfully dealt with these negative thoughts, I think it is very likely that a lot of people like this were partially motivated by hate as a result of years of almost systematic bullying, harassment, and ostracism for showing autistic symptoms. It's absolutely no excuse for what he did, there is clearly something very seriously wrong with someone for them to commit such a cruel and violent act. But there needs to be more widespread awareness and acceptance of autistic people, not as a silver bullet, but as another piece of the puzzle when it comes to preventing violence.

It was horrifying, everyone started running and trampling over each other and all the women were screaming at the top of their lungs. Gunfire in real life is also incredibly loud, cameras don't do the volume justice. I can't imagine how much more chaotic and horrifying it was in such a small space.

The two didn't like each other. Katz had a reputation for being rude, and Elijah probably was the type to not take that in stride. Considering Katz wound up *shooting people* I'd say his reputation was pretty fkin warranted and he was probably hella unpleasant to be around. People with ODD tend to have hot tempers, resentful, deliberately annoying, accusatory, verbally aggressive, and vindictive. Between his diagnosis and his reputation (and the 20+ police calls on Kats by his mom and twice being committed), it's highly unlikely that the relationship between Elijah and Katz was one of Katz just passively existing and Elijah making fun of him.

I love your videos on here Adrian. They're well scripted, researched, and presented. One thing I would say is that ‘mental health’ doesn't mean anything alone. ‘Mental health problems’ are where issues lay. It's a bit like describing why someone did something because of ‘health’. Everyone has mental health itself. The differentiating factor is whether or not that mental health is good or bad. Regardless of this, your videos are amazing, though I've struggled to watch since November when my love and dearest friend died. She was the one who led me to your UA-cam videos and she was a huge fan of them. I know that, if she were still here we'd spend hours talking about others you have posted. Thank you for bringing us so many things to talk about. I miss her every day and I hope she won't mind me watching on alone.

One guy may have a lot of friends that smack talk or shove each other as comradery, but that might completely setoff or trigger the new quiet kid that the guy wants to make sure he feel included. This is a really important story - not just for David's mental health issues & the appalling way in which his mother dealt with them, but how eSports needs to be treated as seriously as physical sports. These are individuals engaging in aggressive (sometimes toxic) competition, often without the socialisation aspect & pressure-relieving activities of physical training with buddies or a team. They compete at much younger ages, giving them no time to build the skills & maturity to cope with the pressure. eSports players should have access to physical & mental health professionals, just like footballers have physiotherapists & nutritionists to keep them in shape for games... they make money for the big game developers, so they deserve to be treated as such.

There are very few things in life worse than growing up with an unloving mother... i speak of experience... if she doesn't care about you and your future, then it's really hard to embrace that perspective yourself because it feels unnatural.
    My observation:
The fact that David got the guns beforehand is premeditative yes, for he was already at the peak of tolerance regarding the bully. Combined with the natural feeling of not caring about his life, he made his plan B beforehand for when shit goes wrong, calculating taking his own life aswell.
Those meds at early age are also making it worse, it makes one care even less... i see the afternath of it in my own younger brother still to this day. Being in jail multiple times before reaching 18.. so dont feed those "legal" drugs to your kids, ever.. he might have been more depressed like me but atleast not that deeply and dangerously careless about his own life..

@@Grant849 unfortunate that you can't directly see what I mean by this message. This kid didn't wake up randomly deciding to be a murderer. He was at the end of options, for as far as he could muster options. Considering his past, carelessness played a big factor in it, in ways I've already stated. Again, this is my observation since I can relate and recognize to what can push people to do extreme things. These are not excuses for his horrible deed, but rather an insight to what goes before such act of violence.
But if you want me to say it then sure, if he didn't take his own life after it happened, then yes he should be jailed for life for he is a danger to anyone else. Mentally messed up and probably unfixable, therefor incapable of taking part of society.
