    Thanks for this explanation. For the most part, it is super clear. I was wondering if you could clarify a few points.
    4:07 Immediately after placing a die, before placing your next die-Could you tell me where in the rule book this is explained? The way I've been playing is, I place all my die, then I do all the actions in the Dice Phase before moving to the Room Phase. Is this not correct?
    5:57 This represents that you are using that die to excavate-I've read the rules on this several times and I cannot find where it explicitly states that you do not use the room where you placed the die. The rules are a bit unclear on this.
    6:49 In this example, you show a single die in a double room. Isn't this not allowed? I thought you always had to fill up the room in order to place any die in it? In this case, two die would be needed.
    Thanks, this was all so very helpful.

    • @GamingRulesVideos
      @GamingRulesVideos  3 роки тому +6

      1. I was hoping I had been clear on this bit. Immediately after placing the die, the alien ships move. You do not resolve the room. I specifically say that you are only placing dice at this time, you do NOT resolve the rooms yet, that comes in the next phase.
      2. I’m not sure where that is in the rules, but I can guarantee 100% that the die you place after the excavator is just for excavating and you do not get to also use the room, the room isn’t actually there yet.
      3. Good spot! But again, apologies if this wasn’t clear. You CAN place a single die in a room, the alien ships will move as normal. But when you come to the rooms phase, the room will not work, so you just remove the die.

    • @stacie_everdell
      @stacie_everdell 3 роки тому +3

      @@GamingRulesVideos You were very clear, the rule book is not. And thanks for the extra clarity on placing a die in a double room. Thanks for responding on all points. :)

    I have a question which came up in our game last night... The mothership was on the board with a ship ready to deploy and in the same column was another ship about halfway down. I had to put a dice on this column which moved north down by 1 space. The next space for both ships was the mothership space. Would the mothership move twice, or do you move the ships one at a time, so could we move the first ship... That moves the mothership down, then the space that the other would have moved on was then covered ? Then move that ship?

    • @tomuhlik
      @tomuhlik 3 роки тому +1

      You need to move all the ships in the column first and all of them simultaneously.
      Then resolve the spaces where they landed, starting from the top.
      So in this case:
      1) move both ships 1 space
      2) descend the mothership by 2 rows
      3) while descending the mothership, the obscuring ship (that was previously on a drop point) is moved back to the mothership (to be respawned at the end of the round)

    What I am unsure about is with the shoot action room, do I spend only one energy to destroy every applicable ship, or each ship?

    • @GamingRulesVideos
      @GamingRulesVideos  3 роки тому +1

      It's not always "1 energy", it is "whatever the energy cost of the room is", so it could be 1, 2, 0, whatever.
      But yes, it destroys all appicable ships.

    wonderful tutorial and couldn’t express more thanks for it, but got a little question, the rulebook stated that ‘immediately after all ships in a column move, it resolve…’, where i find out in game that it is possible to move a ship into a space where it is occupied by a ship from any adjacent column, how to deal with this situation is missing from the rulebook, did i move it one space less or the whole movement cancel out?

    • @GamingRulesVideos
      @GamingRulesVideos  2 роки тому

      If you mean ships moving because of the left and right arrows, they do not move into an occupied space

    you said you win immediately if you research the final space but didn’t say whether the damage or mothership moving to final space is also immediate.
    Can you have the mothership move to final space and also research the final point and win since one is immediate and the other are not?

    • @GamingRulesVideos
      @GamingRulesVideos  3 роки тому

      both are immediate. If you place a die that causes a ship to move onto a mothership space which loses you the game, then you lose.
      Remember, dice are placed first (and ships move), before you get to resolve the rooms.

  • @casperspanggaard7397
    @casperspanggaard7397 Рік тому

    If I move a ship (#1) onto a space where it has to move to the left and then the ship (#2) left of it has to move to the same row, then what happens? Does ship #2 stays and doesn't move?

    • @GamingRulesVideos
      @GamingRulesVideos  Рік тому

      If you move a ship onto a space with a left arrow, it moves to the left, but only if the space is empty. If the space is occupied by another ship, nothing moves.

  • @NorthOf60Gaming
    @NorthOf60Gaming 3 роки тому +1

    FYI, right around 13:29, you state in round one you can only put dice in the first two levels of the base, after checking the rules and consulting on BGG , there is actually nothing stopping you from excavating on the first turn. :)

    • @GamingRulesVideos
      @GamingRulesVideos  3 роки тому +3

      Indeed. I do explain excavation later as a separate thing though.

  • @Pleniers

    Hey. Constructive criticisme here. The paper rulebook from the game does NOT says what the "Blast" symbol for the mothership action does. Not needed for the 1st Roswell game, but needed for standalone games. The same way, there are rooms not explained on the Rulebook, like in the base for Sidney. I call it the "Purple Room" and still don't know what it does. The campaign might explain it (not there yet, just making some stand alone games) but still... Anyway, having fun with the game, Thks

    • @GamingRulesVideos
      @GamingRulesVideos  3 роки тому

      Constructive criticism on my videos is always welcome, but I’m not the publisher of the game, so any feedback on the rulebook would need to go to them :)
      The missing blast symbol was discovered after the rulebook went to print. It is fixed online and in later printings.
      I’ve not got to the Sydney base yet, so not sure what the purple room is, but you are right that it is probably explained in the campaign somewhere.

    • @tomuhlik
      @tomuhlik 3 роки тому +1

      Unfortunately, we missed that one mothership action in the rulebook. I am very sorry for that, I hope that it haven't caused you any trouble.
      Luckily, when you look at the damage track, it's quite obvious, what it should do.
      It should state: "Your base takes one damage."

    • @tomuhlik
      @tomuhlik 3 роки тому +1

      Regarding the "Purple room", you are supposed to unpack the wrapped sheets as you progress through the campaign. Any new rules (rooms, icons, etc.) that appear in that chapter are explained on the back of the big comics page.

    I don't understand what is the point of resolving g the dice evert time we place a white die. I understand if we leave one white die for the end, this way you are choosing not to retoll your dice because you liked the numbers you got.

    • @GamingRulesVideos
      @GamingRulesVideos  7 місяців тому +1

      Do you mean "re-rolling" the dice?
      It is so that you have more choice. If you like the dice you rolled, place the grey ones first. If you don't, place a white one first and re-roll the rest.
      It is a way that the game allows you re-rolls but not forcing you to do so.
