Rauma - my birthplace and hometown. When I moved to Turku where I currently live I started to realize how beautiful and great Rauma is. Good that my parents and other relatives still live there
What a tremendous view of old world Finland. I could have spent a month in those old shops surrounded by cobbestone streets. The places of worship were magnificent! So ornate! Loved the life size statues sitting in church and on the park bench. Activities along the waterfront were so inviting. Mother Nature finally cooperated giving you blue skies and sunshine. The crispness of your footage is remarkable.... crystal clear ..... gorgrous!
Robert! I subscribe to quite a few RVing channels and you are light years ahead of everyone else! You're an awesome narrator and your editing skills are tremendous... I'm really happy to have discovered your channel. Keep up the great work!
I agree completely... too many others just sit and talk talk talk... Robert takes you along on his journey - it takes a lot more effort and the results speak for themselves !! I look forward to his videos - like a great mini-series !!
i dont mean to be so off topic but does any of you know of a tool to get back into an instagram account?? I stupidly lost my password. I appreciate any help you can offer me.
It should be REQUIRED, that the RV song be played at beginning and end....but also at least a third time at some point during the presentation! Love that merry, laid back, fun tune!
Hi Robert, great video and thanks for the memories. My wife is from Finland and took me back to visit family. I have to say Turku was my favorite city !
Howdy Robert, many thanks for sharing yet another superb video here on your trip in Finland.A treat to watch and relish as usual when coming from you.Cordial greetings from William in Bruges,Belgium,Europe
I live in Saint Petersburg close to Finland and vizited Turku few times in tranzit and only now decided to visit in in special ocasion after yout video and Naantali defenetly. Thanks a lot!
Looks like you managed to miss the commercial center of Turku entirely. It's around the Market Square (Kauppatori). There's shopping centers and the Orthodox church there. The market and square itself were likely fenced off and dug up at the time of your visit. There's going to be construction of a new underground parking structure there, and they were / are doing archeological digs before that. Some of those were really interesting, such as a 16th century cobbled street surface from before the great fire, but that has been removed now. And for the record, Turku is the 3rd conubartion in Finland after Helsinki / capital region and Tampere. Oulu's population number is larger than that of Turku, because the municipality has been merged with its neighbors (Turku has not) and is now huge in area, but the city itself is smaller than Turku. Espoo and Vantaa are also larger than Turku by population, but they are suburbs of Helsinki.
Espoo and Vantaa isnt really suburbs of Helsinki. But I get what your point tho. They are invidual cities, but we do usually talk of the "capital area".
I was born in Rauma almost 40 years ago, lived there half of that and will move back when I'm and older dude. :) There's a camping side in Rauma that is "five stars" and it's very very pleasent, in the sea shore. You should try that with your rv if you ever come back.Hope you had a blast, the waterfront in Rauma is full of stuff to see.
Ah, Rauma... The place I was most curious to see you visit, since that's my home town(well, more technically I live right next to Rauma in east, Lappi, which used to be its own municipality[or as we say in Finland, "kunta"], until in 2009 it was joined into Rauma). I'm glad you enjoyed your stay there!
You can still see the influence of those old wooden houses in modern Finnish detached houses. We don't build them as ornate anymore sadly, modern buildings just aren't that pretty.
Always love your adventures! Thanks for taking us along. But, you are sounding a little tired, my friend. This was a huge vacation and certainly has taken a lot of your time and not much'vacation time' is left over to rest. Take care and rest up! Can't wait till the next video!
Robert I'm catching up on your vlogs. Love this trip you are on. You rock. I would love to see these sites. Cuba is on my bucket list along with Key West. You do an outstanding job. 😎🙂
Travelling Robert You wouldn't believe it when visiting the city center, but Oulu is a city of almost 200 000 people. It's a Finnish city planning thing from last century, even in bigger cities the city center is very small and modest, and most of the population lives in suburbs that are sprinkled around in the middle of nowhere, sometimes as far as 10-15km from the city center. Oulu is one of the best examples of this.
Oulu has urban density of 940 people/km2, Turku has 999/km2, not that big of a difference. Oulu just has really small center but there are many rather densely populated sub-urban areas spread all around the city area.
No, the scene is swedish like. Finland was eastern part of Sweden for 700 years. Russia ruled Finland only about hundred years before Finland became independent 1917.

Hi I'm in srilanka but I'm coming soon thank you

Another good episode from Finland/Suomi. Thanks and have a nice day.
Puuta, rauhaa, rakkautta = Wood, Peace, Love
My lyrics to Robert's theme song: "I'm watching (watching); Watching from my TV; So I don't need to be; living in a cramped RVeeee" :)

I liked Rauma a lot, there just wasn't enough time to see it all. We hope to return in a few years.
Thank You for this one too.
You're welcome

Thank you. We liked it a lot. Lovely town. We'll be back one of these days.
Wonderful video! 💗💗💗 Like from London! 🇬🇧
Thank you!

The insides of that Turku castle would have been amazing. Well, maybe next time.
I saw your spread for lunch and I need to get something to eat halfway through the video. I will be right back to see the rest of it. LOL
Ha, bon apetit
Turku is a very interesting city. Good video, congrats.
road temperature is quite important near 0 Celsius so you can predict that road can have icy parts on it.
Welcome in Europe
That is so beautiful
Thank you. As always. 👍👍👍

This trip was a little too much but totally worth it. I will do it again some day...with more time.
Yes!
Good morning Robert.
Good morning

That's hilarious, you parked literally in front of my house in Turku, and I saw your RV and had no idea :D
What a coincidence. It is a small world sometimes
Superb videos
Happy Lord’s Day to you and your family!!!
I will coming soon
You know, you did visit Finland's fifth largest city in the previous episode. (Yes, I know it's hard to believe that when you're in Oulu.)
Oulu was a strangely compelling town. I liked it. Maybe it was the first really good weather day we had.
Travelling Robert You wouldn't believe it when visiting the city center, but Oulu is a city of almost 200 000 people. No mention of Muumi Maailma (Moomin World) in Naantali...
Robert I love the videos! Any chance we’ll see another key west / Florida video soon?
Yes, very soon
Nice video ! 😄
Some kind of material between the logs is moss.
Believe it or not, Turku is actually smaller city than Oulu, in population.
Interesting. I guess Turku is denser and Oulu more spread out
Oulu has urban density of 940 people/km2, Turku has 999/km2, not that big of a difference. Oulu just has really small center but there are many rather densely populated sub-urban areas spread all around the city area.
Awesomei
Thank you!
Did ya notice the i on the end? Hehe
Haha, now I did :-)
am I only one who allways sings the intro song 😂
No, you are not (much to the annoyance of my 7-year-old, I might add).
On friday I noticed that I was humming that song when I was really riding on my RV :)
No, I was driving through Annapolis, MD and saw an RV and then began to sing. Quite a catchy tune.
aaro 345 I sing it all the time.😊
I sing it daily 🎤🎼
i'love you rauma
GOOD ,GOOD,GOOD,
Did u visit the Marinum and Suomen Joutsen sailing ship?
No, didn't know about it.
@@TravelingRobert i was 2weeks ago there also archipelago with free ferry rides on car is nice.
Awesome content, we doing the same thing!
Tu8s is sweey
for spanish speaker suomi is easier than native english speaker :)
Yes it is :-)
Definitely some Russian influence in Rauma's architecture.
No, the scene is swedish like. Finland was eastern part of Sweden for 700 years. Russia ruled Finland only about hundred years before Finland became independent 1917.
It is similar with Sweden.
