Those things you were wondering about are probably prescriptions to be wrapped and glued around the bottle of medicine to be delved out. They'd hold just the name of the medicine, or once prescriptions started to be required, the doctor's signature. I seem to remember one reason those labels are not square is that they are meant to be wrapped around conical or-so pill bottles. At the time it was difficult to blow or mold exactly cylindrical ones. It was easier to just slap on this sort of sticker to whatever, because it stretches better in its paper, thanks to the slimmer tail. I also seem to remember they used rather a lot of animal glue and then just watery, boiled down starch, as in wallpaper paste, which wetted the paper. To make it malleable over the pill bottle. That works much better over the narrower width sections of the sticker than over the wider ones, and once you plaster the wider section with the print on it over the narrower, around the bottle, you actually also do a 3D thingy: you give the overwrapped part a little bit of curvature from below. I'm not at *all* sure this explanation is correct. But I seem to remember seeing hints at it in the literature. Maybe it goes, maybe it doesn't, take it in with a big grain of salt.
6:07 Those are old medical prescriptions. There is a beer restaurant in Turku called Uusi Apteekki, which is decorated like an old pharmacy. Totally worth a visit 👍
That sounds very interesting ! I just visited Wales this past summer & I loved a pub called " Old chemist inn " in Saundersfoot, they had a great vegan veggie burgers 🍔 there & the stunning view of the ocean/ beach !! They are the only pub in the entire Pembrokeshire area that allows a direct access to the beach ⛱️, you just get to the beach straight from the pub !! I highly recommend there to anyone who visits Saundersfoot, Wales !! I'd love to visit that place in Finland ,Finland has been in my bucket list to visit since I was a teenager !! I am turning 57 this month !! Lol. I actually had the chance that I turned down ,now I regret it very much !! But ,it was way to far from Japan ( I am originally from Tokyo )although we were in London ,so it was much closer ..at that time ,but I knew I would get too tired as long hauls we were doing ( round trip ) & many countries we were visiting !! I couldn't add any more !! Lol.😅💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🇫🇮💞
WOW !! That pharmacy museum is SUCH A COOL place !!! To see what they were doing back then to heal themselves is very very intriguing !!! They did impeccable job to preserve that place !! AMAZING !! 👏 👍👍But,yes I always feel something eerie about places with old furniture & their possessions kept as the way they were for so many many years like that ( for hundreds of years ) !! I often wonder how they keep 'em that way w/ o getting molds !! Lol. Finland has been in my bucket list for so long since the 80's to visit !! Lol I find many of Finish men & women ,Norwegians are beautiful, some are very gorgeous !! I used to love a rock band Hanoi Rocks from Finland ,too ! A very interesting video !! 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
The Pharmacy museum was definitively my favorite part of Turku ☺️☺️ Denmark I think won my heart though. New video coming out in two weeks about Copenhagen
@@DavionWest That sounds very good !! I used to dream of living in Denmark as a little girl because of some children book given to me ! My sister's friend moved there & married ( both Americans ) .I can't wait for that video !! Thanks so much for letting me know !! 👍👍😍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶✈️💞
Great video. A little correction though. The building with the pharmacy museum is the oldest wooden building in Turku. Both the castle and cathedral are almost three times as old.
@@DavionWest yeah yeahh… but honestly the video was great, well made and showed me lots off cool places where ive never been like kauppahalli even tho ive lived here my whole life
I'm from Helsinki but absolutely love Turku. Magnificent place with old beautiful buildings and great restaurants 👍🏻
Yes Turku is one of my favorite places in Finland and then Borgå is next. ♥️. I need to visit Helsinki a little bit more
This is a banger video, quality is on point. Keep it up 😁
Thank you for the kind words!:) Turku Finland is defiantly a nice town to visit.

@@DavionWest I actually would recommend to visit Hyvinkää. For finnish standards it's a pretty big city, but in US standards a small town.
@@RandomMemesToStartYourDay ohh, now I gottta go there next time I’m in Helsinki 👀

I guess pharmacies turning into pubs is European/ British thing !? Lol.👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
Very well researched and presented. Pleasure to watch. Great job.
Thank you for the kind words! :). My girl is Finnish-Swede and lives in Turku, so she made sure I knew what I was talking about.
