    Hey Neha, that was a really good video. Thanks for putting this together. I'm from India and still wondering if going abroad is a good idea given covid cases are still on the rise. Obviously, I don't want to spend all the time inside my dorm room but since the university website says for the session beginning in September, it'll be a combination of classroom and online teaching I am considering accepting the offer. What's your take on uni life in covid times? (I'm assuming you're still studying there and might have something to say on this topic)

      Hi! I spent this past year in Edinburgh even though it was all online and I had a wonderful time. Though, I already had my friends from when everything was normal in first year and so I had a lot of company already. Furthermore, I’m not sure if it was the most financially worth it (as I had to pay for the apartment and all when I could have stayed at home), but I was still very happy. The UK is beginning to open up and so it should hopefully return to normal next year. I’d say it’s just about weighing the pros and cons, and if you have the means then it’s definitely worth it!

      Hi! I’m so glad you liked the video ❤️ while I would love to do a video with tips about the PS, as I said in the video, applying to the UK was really an afterthought for me so I didn’t research too much about the PS. Which is why I don’t think I would be the best person to speak on it sadly because I don’t want to give misinformation. But, I know that in my essay I structured it like 1) why I am applying to this degree/what specifically peaked my interest in the subject 2) what skills in my high school classes have equipped me for this degree 3) extra reading I’ve done on this topic that I liked 4) experience in this field such as extracurriculars/internships and the skills I picked up from them 5) why this degree would help me for my future. Overall, the PS is very academic and so connect your degree to the skills you’ve learned from classes/internships and it’ll be great! Good luck for the application, and please let me know with any more questions!

      hi! in my opinion the application process was quite simple, at least compared to the US application process. It only consists of a 600 word personal statement and it gets sent to 5 universities. The requirements vary based on your location and your school system - for example my requirements as someone from an IB school, would be different than for someone from an AP system. All the info will be on UCAS or the Edi undergrad website. And yes! there are many EXTERNAL student loan companies that can help you afford university, you just have to apply :) hope that helps!

      I live in Scotland but am not Scottish myself. Although the Scottish accent can be quite difficult at first due to different vowel and consonant sounds, as well as the different terms used, like aye, hen etc the Edinburgh accent isn't the hardest to get to grips with. I have attached a video which is narrated by an Edinburgh man about the city that should help. There is a You Tuber called Shaun who has hundreds of posts available. I have attached one of his vlogs as well which I hope will help.

    • @edieditsbyneha6559
      @edieditsbyneha6559  2 роки тому

      Hi! So honestly I didn’t know much about the process before I started at Edi and I made the mistake of thinking that the whole of UK is one legal system. If you plan to work in Scotland then studying there would make more sense. I’m planning on working in England after so I can’t say that a Scottish degree entirely helped me in this process as I will have to take a year to get my GDL in order to start in England. That being said, I’m still very happy with my decision as Edinburgh is the perfect place to me for university. Overall, it’s fairly easy to move between Scotland and England if you change your mind after uni (will take an extra year). But if you know in advance where you want to practice then go to uni there. Also, the US is a completely different system and will take more time to transfer to.

      Hi! So UK unis in general just care more about the grades than anything else, whereas US unis care about a holistic approach. I was very active in my high school and did lots of extracurriculars -ie. service clubs, student government (both because I enjoyed it and also because I was applying to the US and that is kind of necessary). I wouldn’t say they would expect more from you, but of course if you do have then it does look good. Keep in mind, if you do want to add extracurriculars and accolades, then make there they are specific to skills in your degree because that’s what they care about the most. Also, UK universities also like it if you have some sort of experience or internship in the degree you’re applying to. I didn’t do an internship, but I just substituted that “experience” section with the extracurriculars I did. Hope that helps!

      Hi! I totally agree. University abroad can be a really daunting expense and I completely get where you’re coming from. Fees here depend on where you come from, so fees are different if you’re EU, Scottish or International - fees are significantly more expensive for international. Sadly, the university itself doesn’t give financial aid unless you’re Scottish, but there are many external student loan companies that you could look into.

    Hi, I was looking at the entry requirements for US students, and I think it said we needed at least one year of US college with a 3.0 or 4.0 gpa, is this true? Bc i was looking at colleges in the UK for the reason about specialized study, and I was wondering if this was required and I cant go to Edinburgh right after high school?

      Hi! Just got an unconditional offer (meaning I made it onto my course with no score requirements for my senior year) as a senior in a US high school. You definitely don’t need to go to a college in the US.

      You were probably looking at it if you wanted to transfer er from a different college: use this link www.ed.ac.uk/studying/international/country/americas/united-states-of-america

      @@bobsvagana2255 Hi! I know you probably won’t see this. I’m applying this fall and i’m super worried about my chance of getting in for History undergrad (i’m currently in 11th grade) My stats are 3 APs 554 and 29 ACT? Do you think that will be enough?

    Hi!! I'm from New Jersey and I'm looking at schools in the UK but mainly England. Since this is in Scotland is it difficult to adapt to the language barrier and new culture?

    • @edieditsbyneha6559
      @edieditsbyneha6559  3 роки тому +1

      Hi! Hope you enjoyed the video. As I sort of mentioned in the video, adjusting to the city and the new culture wasn’t hard at all for me. Because of the number of international students, and particularly Americans at the uni, I always felt comfortable and surrounded by people I could relate to. So, it didn’t necessarily feel like a whole new culture I had to adjust to. I would personally suggest looking into UK universities that have the specific characteristics of US unis, such as a campus and high amount of international kids. This will help you feel more comfortable adjusting to a new environment.

      What Language barrier are you even implying since the entire UK speaks English with different dialects and accents.

      Hi Niki I have just posted this reply to another questioner above, so I have copied and pasted it here. Hope it helps!

    Hi Neha, glad you are enjoying Edinburgh. Could you mention that there are another two universities in Edinburgh and maybe point out Glasgow, Stirling and St Andrews in the Central Belt. I know you haven't attended them but it is worth raising the profile of these institutions. I have to say as vlogers go yours is probably the best narrated and produced I have seen on this subject. Keep up the good work and can I suggest a hairband to keep it out of your eyes? This is probably jealousy on my part as I have very little left.
