Any team with almost the same squad winning so many trophies back to back and then decline in desire and performance is normal esp if you miss such a prolific and charismatic striker like Ronaldo. from a Barca fan
Definitely far deeper. Can't forget that Zidane left as well. Bad managers play bigger roles such as Rafa Benitez in the 15/16 season where he had Ronaldo.
@@azekeaze1882 sure but that's only the champions league. As far as the league is concerned Barca are still very much the dominant club. We even saw it in their last el classico match. How can they have the desire to just win in the CL but not in la liga as well?.. Something is clearly wrong.
@@keith1909 But managers often take too much of the blame when in reality it's actually the players who should be held responsible and accountable for why they're playing poorly. Seems Ronaldo was a big piece of the puzzle that held the team together, and now without him it almost seems as though they're just average players. Similar to how in the NBA when Lebron leaves a franchise, the team massively under performs.
I think we need to realize that Real was already showing signs of decline since the beginning of last season, where for the first few games they were massively struggling in getting consecutive wins and even losing against mid-table teams, difference being that CR7 and Zizou were charismatic leaders that managed to motivate the team and provide a late resurgence, ultimately winning the UCL for the third consecutive time. This time around, however, with them not around, Real is struggling as a result.

@@ZaprdicaJelic The worst part is they've produced many but don't recognise it. Many players have the technical ability and intelligence to play this way and some do, Carrick, Scholes even Giggs later on. Finally someone is giving the credit to Carletto Mazzone! There was another great playmaker called Roberto Baronio coming from Brescia youth squad and him and Pirlo were playing very well together for Under 21 and Reggina in the early 2000. Forza Brescia!!!
Pirlo could run onto the ball and put in a devastating long pass. Also lack of pace but he still managed to destroy England in Euro 2012 and in the World Cup 2014, the latter when he was 36. Juve taking him on a free transfer was a nice piece of business.
Excellent video. One note I would add however is Busquets high press. He’ll often move to within 10 yards of the opposition 20 yard box when Barca have the ball to quickly stamp out any potential counter attacks once they lose possession. His ability to read the game in moments such as these is unrivaled. He’s not as stylish as Pirlo. You won’t see as many Hollywood passes or certainly no physics defying free kicks but for me he’s the superior player. Best midfielder in world football bar none.
Absolutely different approaches to the role. Pirlo was no strange to covering, but Busquets was no way in Pirlo's league in organizing, tempo-setting, creativity and long range shooting. Pirlo was the most complete -and thus, for me, the best- midfielder of his generation, followed by Alonso and Gerrard. All of them could fit in any midfield.
@@hsncaliper4109 So u really think winning Ballon D'or will make u Great, well then u r pretty Wrong...... And Ballon D'or is biased now. They are nowhere near to Xavi, inesta, And Busquest.
Brilliant video. My favorite quote about Busi is "When you watch the game you don't see Busquets, but when you watch Busquets you see the whole game". Like Messi he's irreplaceable at Barça. A true footballer in every sence...
Loved watching Pirlo. His long diagonal passes were very effective and inspired me to use the technique in 5-a-side because the game is based more on counter attacks and it's easier to pick someone out on the smaller pitch.
As they both share the same position, Busquests is more defensive player with line breaking passes and also more than that defensive work. But Pirlo was more into attacking than defensive. His creativity was phenomenal. And he was also a good free kick taker. As they played the same position there roles were bit different. So comparing both of them are exceptional….
Great video as usual. But I'm not sure on Busquets' range of passing. Unless I haven't seen a lot of him recently I don't remember many occasions he's launched long cross-field passes.
Zhe Wei Khor Well I guess they could work better if they played with 4-2-3-1 tactic and a proper striker Jorginho + Kante can be even more dominanat to the mid than Busi Cause Jorginho has passing abilities and vision and Kante is a beast defensively
Kanté is completely different to Jorginho, Pirlo and Busquets and fielding him as a deep-lying playmaker would be a dreadful waste of his greatest asset. What Kanté truly excels at is defending large areas of space, thanks to his exceptional defensive awareness, tackling ability, speed and stamina. The greater the area of the pitch you task Kanté with covering defensively, the more he shines. This is why he is more effective in a midfield two - either Leicester's 4-4-2 or Conte's 3-4-3 - rather than in a midfield three like Sarri's 4-3-3 or Conte's 3-5-2. However, reverting to a midfield two wouldn't suit Jorginho at all, he is in his perfect role as the regista in a midfield three. Kanté is far too good to drop and you couldn't really say that pushing him further forward has failed, but his new position, coupled with the huge increase in possession Chelsea keep, does restrict his primary attribute.
CDM is tough position to determine the best player since different teams uses the role very differently. I would say busquets is the best right now .But players like kante and casemiro are better at pure defensive work
If this were part of a serie of videos, I’d love to see an analysis of Arturo Vidal. Not only because of his characteristic polyfunctionalism, but also because of his superb playing style in those positions.
1:15 Pirlo has also actually played in a double pivot. This was during Italy's victorious World Cup campaign in 2006, when they played something close to a 4-4-1-1.
A good video idea could be rivalries of teams, but of smaller footballing countries, but that are just as fierce, if not more, than the rivalries between top clubs
busquets and pirlo are different in the way that busquets was so good he activated xavi, iniesta, messi etc and pirlo was so good players like gatusso, marchisio, pogba, vidal had to adapt themselves to him

Carrick is could've been considered one of the best in that position If he had played in other leagues. His role and play style is often overlooked in the EPL. But he is one of the most decorated English players of all time, so the ppl commenting should really think twice before calling him bad.
lacameyang arsenal Xabi Alonso needed Gerard alongside him to play his best game That is why he wasn’t as good at Madrid and Guardiola had to use Philip Lahm(originally a right back) alongside him By the way they played together for Spain and Busi was more dominant
Definitely a fan o Busquets, Pirlo and Tifo... When watching Barça’s games sometimes I like to pause whenever Busquets gets the ball, after evaluating which would be the best pass for him to make a resume the game and almost always Busquets makes that pass, truly impressive.
Can you make a video on Robin Jansson’s meteoric rise in the last 12 months? A year ago he was playing in the Swedish 4th division (I think) and won the Swedish 1st division in November, scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win that guaranteed AIK the title, and very recently earned his first cap for the Swedish national team.
love that this video concludes with immense respect to each player... and yes they both satisfy their own capabilities a long with the needs/ strategic style of their team... i personally prefer busquets style of control in possession (and i happen to be a barca fan), but dam do i miss watching pirlo prance around the field, dropping into space right before skipping a light long ball with pin point accuracy to start an attack
One famous and successful spanish manager once said: "When Busquets on the field one does not always notice him but when he is not on the pitch everyone notices that". That's the perfect way to describe Sergio Busquets. He is not flashy but a damn important link between the defensive line and the more attacking players. Pretty much the most complete DMF to ever play the game.

In fact, Pirlo played imperiously for two different Italian national teams, the star studded 2005-2008 setup, & the younger & slightly inexperienced 2012-2014, both reached a major final, with Pirlo accumulating three MOMs along the way. Like this video explained two different players. Pirlo can look flashy for a CDM when he pings those beautiful long balls with accuracy which overrides the opponent's midfield, alongwith his other magnificent abilities. If you watch a Barca/Spain match over this decade you will realize that Busquets is not flashy but when he is at his peak the team will not loose the possession battle even to the likes of Pirlo's midfiled. So they outclass each other in different aspects of the game.
What amazed me most about when kimmich and weigl broke through playing this position in different systems but did it in an almost effortless way . More pirlo based systems , casemiro and kante more of your robust type of holding midfielder.

@@CrippledFapper Pirlo has 8 assists in 193 Serie A games for Milan that is a fact, you calling it 'bullshit' -again is meaningless. His pass out-put and completion (which he is applauded for) is no greater than the likes of Arteta for example, yet you don't have people noting Arteta (who has a lot more assist and goals to his name by a distance) as world class. Pirlo was a great passer of a ball, although mainly uncreative ball retention, he could pick out a nice-on-the-eye curved pass to the wing. But Pirlo was never amongst the elite in football stat-wise at any point in his career.
To say Sergio Busquets is underated is an understatement. I just hate when he's play acting. I'am not sure if I use the phrase properly though. He is the piston to Xavi's engine.
It was just one instance almost a decade ago... nothing compared to how players behave now
@@maazins5875 one instance in one of the most important football matches in the world...it should follow him
Maazin S I know which one you referring too but that was not just it. That was the worst. I hate it when he falls at the softest of touches but always try to get away with it when he roughen up his play. But overall though he is very underated scores some important goals too sometimes arriving at the box at the right time. I just hate that part of his game. He is a big tall guy and it's football when you give some, you get some. Especially when he's the defensive mid and the start of almost all attack for Barcelona.
Focus on negative is cool nowadays
You dont like the way he behave,it has nothing to do with how good of a player he is
CH in Chiellini is pronounced not as in cheap. It is more like a K as in keys
But this is America. They don't care.
funny if both players were english they would be ostracised and labeled luxury players .. england is about 10 years behind the rest of the countries in europe
dadondutta yep, that’s why Carrick was overlooked for brainless players who “work hard” yet he was pivotal to Man Utd’s success and his retirement is also a big part to why Man Utd suck now because he hasn’t been replaced.
Pirlo famously hated running. That would get him tagged as lazy in England. Ask Ozil, not that his play for Arsenal is beyond criticism.
The anglosphere lacks the culture to produce a Pirlo. And not just in a footballing sense either.
@@ZaprdicaJelic England would produce a James Milner.
Raheem Sterling is the prototypical English player, one polished by Guardiola.
@@ZaprdicaJelic
The worst part is they've produced many but don't recognise it. Many players have the technical ability and intelligence to play this way and some do, Carrick, Scholes even Giggs later on. Pirlo is a one off though, it's a bit unfair to say "the anglosphere" lack the culture when he is unique.

Can you do an analysis of Fernando Redondo? Please!! He's also one of the best CDM ever. Great video as always, btw 👍🏼
Surely Pirlo in the Milan jersey should be on the thumbnail. That's where he spent most of his career and won two Champions League titles.

Brilliant video. My favorite quote about Busi is "When you watch the game you don't see Busquets, but when you watch Busquets you see the whole game". Like Messi he's irreplaceable at Barça. A true footballer in every sence...
You could say the exact same thing for Xavi, Xabi Alonso, Zidane, Scholes, Pirlo etc.
We already see these 2 legend come face to face in 2015 ucl final
I learn so much about watching these videos. Brilliant!
Loved watching Pirlo. His long diagonal passes were very effective and inspired me to use the technique in 5-a-side because the game is based more on counter attacks and it's easier to pick someone out on the smaller pitch.
Pirlo is indescribable. No one can describe his brilliance in words. What a legend.
Tifo football is a model for every youtube channel. Such pure content, there's literally nothing to complain or debate.
Sergio Busquets is a class act and will be difficult to replace. A true gem from la masia
Even though Pirlo spent his best years in Milan and Juve, I, as an Inter fan really miss watching him play.
He doesn't run like a sprinter but definitely feeds passes to likes of Messi, suarez, dembele.
The analysis of these players is superb!
Very good video, roles and differences explained really well
Pirlo was my favourite midfielder of this century
What an excellent job done there by Tifo. However, I'd love to see you guys do a podcast on this and other player roles. Libero, maybe?
Great video as usual. But I'm not sure on Busquets' range of passing. Unless I haven't seen a lot of him recently I don't remember many occasions he's launched long cross-field passes.
Superbly done absolutely bang on! Number 6 role is the most underrated position is world football, finally getting some recognition today.
Pirlo and busi define quality beauty with brain...

Pirlo has to be the only player you can’t dislike. He’s played for the big 3 and oozes class
Some of the most brilliant writing in these videos.
What's scary is Chelsea has arguable both the best players in this position. They will definitely be a huge force next season
Zhe Wei Khor other than jorgi whose the other one because fabregas is gone
@Ayoub Nait kanté is a joke infront of jorginho, busquets and pirlo
A very underrated and my personal favorite role! Thank you for giving the attention that the Defensive Midfielder role deserves.
Is Busquets worlds best cdm in ur opinion?
yes
He made those killer through balls look easy to find. While in reality it is really tough personally for me to do
CDM is tough position to determine the best player since different teams uses the role very differently.
I would say busquets is the best right now .But players like kante and casemiro are better at pure defensive work

He is the best of his type. He wouldn't be able to do Kante's job as well as Kante, but Kante wouldn't be able to Busquets' job as well as Busquets.

If this were part of a serie of videos, I’d love to see an analysis of Arturo Vidal. Not only because of his characteristic polyfunctionalism, but also because of his superb playing style in those positions.
Come here after pirlo appointed as juve coach.
1:15 Pirlo has also actually played in a double pivot. This was during Italy's victorious World Cup campaign in 2006, when they played something close to a 4-4-1-1.

Further proving he can play in multiple formations, team setup etc.

Pirlo outclasses him in my Humble opinion as amazing as they both are
Like this video explained two different players.

Something you would do well to do yourself.
