Ileach is a Vintage Malt product, (same company as Coopers Choice) which Tyndrum have a large selection of. Likely to be a young Caol Ila or Buna. Alastair Walker of Infrequent Flyers, possibly to take the reigns at GlenAllachie one day from his Dad? Good vid guys!

Hey Phil :-) Infrequent Flyers is an independent bottler. Behind it, is the son of Billy Walker. The prices are very high there. Lots of bottles you get here in Germany way cheaper and in the UK also I think. Some standards: Caol Ila 12 (36 EUR), Bowmore 12 (27 EUR), Bowmore 18 (70 EUR), Glenallachie 12 (35 EUR), Talisker 10 (30 EUR), Aberfeldy 12 (30 EUR), Aberfeldy 16 (50 EUR), Bunnahabhain 12 ( 37 EUR), Talisker 18 (85 EUR), Glencadam 10 ( 33 EUR), Tomatin 18 ( 70 EUR), Craigellachie 13 (38 EUR), Glenfarclas 15 ( 42 EUR) and so on. The Old Malt Casks are here in Germany mostly 50 per cent even too. Some special bottlings are Natural Cask Strength but that is not common. Old Malt Cask is from Hunter Laing and Old Particular from Douglas Laing. They splitted for some reason and each brother going his own way now. Since then the design of the box and label from Old Malt Cask is diffrent from the versions which they both brought out together earlier. I think you can find some diffrences with the company name too if you compare the old vs the new design. Old Particular has some bottles with black labels which are Natural Cask Strenght. The regular ones are 48,4% and then there are some with 51,5%. Sometimes you have other strenghts plus minus 50%. And sometimes you have other bottlings with another label in Natural Cask Strenght for a shop or in another series like the Midnight and the Spiritualist series which are from Old Particular too. The Hart Brothers are splitted too since some time. Only Alistair Hart made the Hart Brother Bottles and Donald Hart has an own independent bottler which is The Maltman. Hi Guys. I was in New York last week for a lightning tour to talk about kosher issues with whisky at a Rabbis conference. I was very honoured that they invited me as the main guest speaker. I stayed in Crown Heights but also visited Bough Park and other places in Brooklyn. I visited the Brooklyn Liquor store next to Costco. A large store but I've seen more bottles of Single Malts in my local wine store at home in Israel. It was absolutely pathetic! A few bottles of Macallan, Glenlivet, Glenfiddich and Balvenies. That was it! I actually did buy a couple of bottles to take home, from a wine store in Crown Heights called Eber's on Kingston Ave in the heart of the Jewish area. I bought a Craigellachie 13 and Glencadam 13, each of them $60. (Just coincidence that they were both 13 Years Old as well). I was a bit taken aback when the bill came to more. The owner very kindly explained that the prices on the shelves were all pre-TAX. So, if everyone pays Tax, why don't they state the price including Tax? Anyway, the prices were still much cheaper than in Israel. Shame there was a very small choice, as I found in all the liquor stores I went into. Oh, the other weird thing was that owner insisted that they put each of the bottles in a brown paper bag when I wanted to just put them in my shopping bag. I've opened the Glencadam 13 (I already know Craigellachie 13 very well) and even from the neck pour, was very impressed. Really a lovely example of a pure Ex-Bourbon matured single malt with that typical Glencadam yeasty, honey, yellow apple and milk fudge that you get with the 10 and 15. In addition, the 13 YO has a unique taste of chewy seaside honeycomb confectionery.
Nice video. Yes, there is a tourist aspect to the shop, however, pricing is extremely competitive online. What I would say - is compare these in-store prices to any in Scotland, and we won't be far off them. Ardbeg Wee Beastie for example - we're cheaper than the tax dodgers at Amazon :-) Craig - TyndrumWhisky :-)
oh, and I should also add - online pricing structure is completely different to the shop.. but we're getting closer.. Pricing should not be the "only" thing taken from this video, it should be the massive range in a very rural location, that only has business/tourists for 6 months of the year.
@@craigdearden1687 ...and where else can you pick up a few bottles of non supermarket whisky, stop for a comfort break and pick up a nice pie surrounded by fabulous scenery!
@@williamgullett5911 Too expensive for the experience. Many better choices typically for the same money and Macallan is and impressive marketing machine aimed at a broader public. eg very few whisky fans would pick $350 Macallan 18 over $180 Glendronach 18.
