+windingpath That's a good point but keep in mind, there's always a few bad apples. And all of the people who are believers are still people and sin just like everyone else. I truly believe most Christians and other religious believers would say the same. We are no better than anyone else but I try to live up to the standards and values in my religion to make me a better person. I give those people who are humble and consider themselves servants to others a lot of respect. From what I have seen, that is the majority of religious people.
+ProActive FP It isn't a matter of being a bad apples. Christians are asked to go around spreading their religion. They are basically "salesmen for Jesus". A good example are jewhova witnesses who come to your house and don't declare themselves as jewhova witnesses. One time, this lady and man came and were talking about the problems of the world, wars, world war 3 is coming. I was 18 so enthusiastically, I asked, what can we do about it. Their reply was that there is nothing we can do. What???? So why are you here? They kept on talking and they gave me their pamphlet. Reading it became obvious that it had something to do with the Bible. Over the years, I understood their tactic. They just come knocking on your door to waste your time. Someone tried to pass a law in Montreal to ban these guys but the law wasn't accepted. Well, at least I have my flying spaghetti monster. It gives me comfort and he is going to save me. All shall bow down to him!
Double D "What a traumatic experience ! You have done well to recover from it without permanent scars.I just had a gay rights activist knock on my door. While I was trying to tactically tell her I had little interest in the cause my dog swiped my sandwich before i got a third bite." ==I've never had any gay rights activist come to my door. They have the right to marry in Canada since 2006. But these jewhova witnesses are all over the place. Once every 2 years or so, they come and visit your house. They are in the subways from 8 AM to 8 PM. Is this how they make a living? Imagine if every religion was like this.
There are several 'God' channels. my family thinks I watch them because I am secretly religious. Little do they know that nothing chuckles me like religious nonsense. It's stand up.
you all probably dont give a shit but does anyone know of a way to log back into an instagram account..? I was stupid forgot my account password. I love any tips you can give me!
I've been an active atheist for around 7 years in which i constantly picked on religious people thinking i was so much smarter than them because i figured stuff out..i thought i saw through the lie, but i didn't see shit. That period was the darkest of my life and it ended when i personally realised that God is real and i started including Him into my mental processes and prayers. Yes, i know pray daily and i STILL wonder why He's on my side altough im a lazy ass procrastinator with hardly any use to society. I try and not piss Him off to much and things are going well.
When I worked & lived on a Christian summer camp they made all of us teenage boys read from this nonsensical book every night as part of our "devotional readings" . Ironic how I was brainwashed to believe that the book made total sense. Today, 12 years later I see it as comical nonsense !
PatrickAnarchy It would be comical if it weren't so dangerous. Of course it we could convince people it was comical ... it would no longer be dangerous.
I'm a religious man, and I enjoyed this. I hate it when individuals proclaim to know his will. I hate it when religious leaders promote ignorance, that science is somehow opposite of faith. I hate it when instead of trying to teach their congregations the faith, they prefer to make them into sheep.
Science is opposite of faith. A hypothesis is not faith. You don't conduct science with a conclusion and build evidence to back it up, which is what religion tries to do.
Xanifur I'm a mechanical engineer. I see science as another form of worship; to learn as much as we can about the glory of his creation. God is perfect, but people are not; as are their interpretations of his will. Not everything that happens is a miracle; but existence itself is a miracle by itself. Frankly, I think only a fool looks at the intrinsic system of laws (physics, chemistry, biology) that govern our reality and see randomness. The difference between random and order is perspective, and comprehension. To the ancient man, the changing seasons might've seemed random, but over time he identified a pattern, and eventually the reason for the pattern. I'm not a religious fanatic; I simply dismiss the idea that our existence is an endless stream of random occurrences.
The bible refers to us as sheep and God is our shepherd. Psalms 23 says the Lord is my shepherd... Also science always tries to prove things leaving God out.
David Jones The Lord is your Shepard. Not the guy claiming to speak for him. Being a false prophet is one of the worst crimes in the bible. The problem today with religious leaders (of any religion), is that they try twist the words of the bible to match their political agendas. That's how you get them advocating murder, theft and rape, when their scriptures suppose to be completely against them. As for science leaving god out, that's how science works. God is undefinable, you can't factor him into a mathematical equation. That doesn't mean Science is inherently secular. Scientific facts aren't secular. they're just facts. Is driving a truck secular? Is using a computer? Once you acknowledge that he created everything, including the laws of physics and chemistry, you stop having a problem with science. The fact that there are laws of physics, are proof that there is order in the universe. And order isn't random; if you drop a thousand ton of bricks from the sky, you're not going to get a skyscraper. Someone had to create/define that order. He created in his image, it's our obligation to learn as much as we can about the universe around us. It's not that I don't believe in the bible, on the contrary. The latter parts of the old testament are meticulous in their record keeping, more like a history book than a fairy tale (no offense). But I believe the events described there would've looked a lot different if they had our scientific means.
The Solmanian You are in error on several things because you are spiritually blind...you say you believe in the bible your comments speak against the bible. Don't look at people look at Jesus Christ and base the bible off what Jesus did.
"As I say on the first page of this book, the ultimate truth could be explained without any reference to religion, and some people may prefer that, but most of the human race is involved in religions. Not including religions in an explanation of the ultimate truth, or not revealing the truth in religions, would do the opposite of what the truth needs to do. One of the benefits of the ultimate truth is world peace and unity, so presenting it in a way that causes conflict and resistance from the billions of people devoted to religions is not the way. The ultimate truth must be told from the perspective of both religion and science to be the ultimate explanation of the ultimate truth. It will be resisted less; thus, it is the best way."-an excerpt from "the Present (With Religion)". The ultimate truth is here: read "The Present" and then "The Present (With Religion)". Nothing is more important.
Wow, the first 3 pages of "The Present" are enlightening. Also, can't believe that the ultimate truth is actually in religions; it has just been hidden though.
Most religions have a large number of decent people in them, a great many of whom think that their innate decency is because of the religion. They should give themselves more credit.
"Not including religions in an explanation of the ultimate truth or not revealing the truth in religions would do the opposite of what the truth needs to do" - this is intriguing. What great truth could be resisted or cause conflict among the religious simply by not involving their creation story?
This is too funny...almost made me cry with laughter... '"Noah loved God more than anything else in the world, even when no-one else did!" - Yeah, God had some bad years... it's not all tits and champagne in that business!'
_"God couldn't find anyone on earth who was interested in pleasing him, so he was grieved and _*_regretted making man._* You know . . . because he's God, so he has a lot of second thoughts." Lol.
It's not difficult to demonstrate that Rick Warren is a nitwit. That said, more than 30 million copies of this book have been sold. That fact is even more terrifying than the actual contents of the book.
Most of those copies were "sold" to churches, who then coerced their members to buy copies. Back when this book came out, I was in college. I went to a service with my roomate, and the church had cases of the books up near the stage and the congregation were HEAVILY encouraged to buy a copy.
Ive read this book a few times. You have to approach the book with the right attitude. If you go into a book like this with a closed mind, then you're going to have a closed experience. And contrary to what Mr. Maher says, all of what he puts in that book that is in reference to heaven, can be found in the bible. So, I don't see what Mr. Maher is criticizing when his book is based on another book which is the longest standing document in history. I also find it amusing that so many people who don't know God, and don't know Rick Warren are so eager to judge him. Ever heard of Pascal's Wager? Long story short, it suggests that you gain more by believing in God and lose nothing by believing in God, which by the same token if you don't believe in God, you lose more. The point is, whats the harm in believing in God? If you're right, you gain everything and if you're wrong, then you lose nothing. Whereas if you don't believe in God, if you're wrong, you spend eternity in hell, and if you're right, well you dont gain anything, because you'd be right. The whole idea is that you gain more by believing in God than you do by not believing in God. So, my question to Atheists, why are you so afraid to believe in something if there is no harm if you're wrong?
@@mattt7238 What if you pick the wrong god? Why not believe in leprechauns, while you're at it? And why waste time worshiping and praising an invisible magic fairy who probably doesn't exist, instead of growing up and being rational?
Lemme ask you a question. Out of all the possible information that exists in the entire universe. How much can anyone person know? Not a single person on earth can know more than 1% of the entire information and knowledge in the universe right? Thats a fair assumption right? Okay, now if a person cannot know more than 1% of all the information in the universe, doesn't it stand a logical reason that within the remaining 99% of the knowledge and information, that information about who exactly God is could exist?? I think so. So, if you claim to be a really intelligent person, and you could only know 1% of all the information everywhere, isnt it possible that information of God and knowledge of Him could exist in that 99%? You say its a magical fairy that probably doesn't exist. I would like to see the information that substantiates this claim and I would like to know how much of that universal information you are concluding this assumption from?
I was 8 years-old when I started to question what was god and why do people believe in it. I went to bible classes and after 2 hours, my little innocent me just thought it was all too ridiculous to be true. My family, the priest and the nuns were all hysterical and tried over and over to explain the word and teachings of Christianity. My mom even bought dozens of books filled with biblical stories in cartoon form. Didn't work. Eventually, I did read and studied the bible as an adult and it just convinced me even more that is all a myth, as other religions and mythologies. Religion is poison.
Bill Maher can only dream of writing a best selling book that has touched many across the globe. It is has even touched him, giving him more stand-up material to once again earn a paycheck off the back of Christianity.
Well, it speaks to people who believe in a book with a talking snake. Maher made a good point when he said in an interview that if Jack and the beanstalk was in the bible a lot of people would believe it..
1400 years of murder and torture and christians below can't take a few satirical words, Hitchens once said "..... they come to us today with their smiley faces, but never forget how they behaved when they had the power and thought they had god on their side".
Blessed (happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather. Psalm 1:1
OMG!!! YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THAT NOAH WASN'T PERFECT????!!!! WHAT SHALL WE EVER DO, NOW!!!??? He probably has nothing on how often YOU get bombed and lie around naked! LOL
We all sin so no one is better than anyone! Also, I find that hard to believe, but I will give you the benefit of a doubt! I also haven't heard about you showing incredible acts of faith beyond all natural reasoning to what God asked you to do as Noah did, so, sorry. You can collect your consolation prize at the door, bro! Thanks for playing! ;)
Every single person in the Bible has blown it because they are human, and I like the fact that the Bible points that out! Pretty up front and honest, right? David, Moses, the Disciples, ...everyone!
Laugh if you want, but this book actually helped save Michael Phelps from commiting suicide! If any book can do that, it's gotta be worth reading! It's easy to pick this book apart. I personally wouldn't scoff at the purpose driven life, unless you've read it from cover to cover. My question here for you is this : What is your relationship with the God of your understanding? If you don't have one, read this book from end to end, then let me know what you think.
+clam5103 I often just randomly pick a page in the bible and read it out loud to my wife. It is a riot. The shit is unreal in that book. I have yet to randomly select a page and it not be some sort of crazy.
yoga4me2 My world is a world of the real, the true, and the here and now....not a fantasy land of invisible friends. I have been just fine without a god/gods for most of my life which is nearly 70 years now. Do not proselytize to me. Save it for the gullible.
+Dean Flaten Ah....such a clever metaphor.....just like C. S. Lewis....king of the metaphor! Do not condescend and/or proselytize to me. Just start thinking. Oh yes....if you have the courage, read THIS book: www.amazon.com/Life-Driven-Purpose-Atheist-Meaning/dp/1939578213
"My Christianity isn't 'religion'" seems to be the new religion, or is it just me? If your beliefs come straight out of a book, and you have no scientific way to justify them, it's a religion--i.e., you're taking somebody else on their word.
Relationship with God is greater than Religion. That's the whole point of Christianity. You can say its religion, but thats just you on the outside of the walls with no actual inside experience; judging something you cannot see, and hear or experience. Whereas if you were Christian, or atleast open the idea of faith in God, then I believe you would have a different idea of Christianity. But hey, its cool...I mean if you dont want to believe, thats entirely up to you. But if you're wrong, you go to hell, if you're right, well nothing happens. You should look up Pascal's Wager which suggests its wiser to believe in God than it is to not believe in God. If you choose to not believe in God and you're wrong, well you go to hell. If you choose to not believe in God and you're right, well nothing happens. No reward, no hell. Just death and darkness, nothing. But if you choose to believe in God and you're right, you gain everything. Whereas if you choose to believe in God and you're wrong, then you lose everything. Its smarter to believe in God, but people with your mentality are like sheep lead to slaughter. You can't force a sheep to drink, you can only show them where the water is.
God is Love. And He has given us a choice on how and what to believe. It's just so sad that so many people in his audience found this to be funny. Guess I shouldn't be so surprised. While there's yet life there is yet a chance so I'll just keep praying for all to be revealed before it's too late. Maranatha.
what did you pray for? for the sun to come up the next day? that you will find food soon? that something will happen to someone that is close to you that helps them? that you will get a good parking spot? please. give an example of something noteworthy.
He says he doesn't judge Christian's. That's all he does. I feel sorry for him because he too will have to bow before Jesus one day and claim that he is Lord. I pray he finds out before it's too late.
David Davis you are amazing, first i thought you were a troll. But you seem pretty serious in this matter. You are right, its really ignorant, I dont have the answer, but I rather admit that I dont have it than making it up. Claiming Jesus is the answer to everything is pretty arrogant and stupid too
Is not about religion. It's far beyond that. It's the things you can't see that matter. Words that are said, emotions that turn into action. Ideas that turn into fact. Everything is premeditated. We see it in our heads first.
This Bill Maher is so pompous and condescending, you can tell that he's angry at life for some reason. If religion is ridiculous why is his whole spiel about being against it. Anything else he would just come across as "trying to hard" he's not funny. Just comes across as stubborn, angry and plain stupid.
This is just ridiculous, not funny at all. (I'm an atheist). Maher, when he goes at christianity, he seems to miss something, and (at least in my sensibility - I was raised catholic) his humour does not work at all. George Carlin works for me. He is vitriolic and relevant, and is able to deconstruct every aspect of the religion, attacking its paradoxes and inconsistencies. In this clip, Bill just sounds like an annoying child repeating what another child is saying, but with a nagging voice. (Maybe it's a matter of ignorance, of not knowing, and not caring about theology, about what christianity is about - he seems to miss, and not give a damn about - unlike Carlin - every single point of what he is reading. So he is unable to mock, deconstruct or really attack the religion he is suposed to a critic of.
Hmmm, actually this is a very good, inspirational book. Funny that it's perfectly fine to demean, and disrespect a Christian author but let's give Bill a book by a Muslim author with the same level of insult and the world would call him a bigot. Well no matter. I'm sure Rark Warren could care less what Bill Maher thinks. God will eventually have the last laugh on this one.
+ChrisTuckerexpress Sorry but this is perhaps the most foolish post so far. These men of science are certainly poor philosophers! Hawkings latest book to "disprove" God has been almost universally shredded as absurd. "Philosophy is dead." This is itself a philosophical statement! Dawkins God Delusion contains such awful philosophy that it doesn't even know it's a book of philosophy! Smart guys in their fields, but no closer to truth than the rest of us. So it's scary to see people like you defer entirely to them. Very unwise. Hmm this guys a good carpet layer -- I think I'll hire him to build my house.
***** oh yes of course my bubble has been burst and you have now left me confused and perplexed....NOT! give me a break, youre going to put your faith and base your beliefs on what Hawking and Dawkins think they know about the bible? Do yourself a favor and do your own personal research without relying on so-called smart scientists.
I find it funny that atheists believe in nothing. Why, it takes blind faith to believe in nothing! "I don't believe in God" is still saying "I believe He doesn't exist." Even simply saying "I know He doesn't exist" is exhibiting faith that you're right. Having faith in your own "intellect" is still faith.
+Daniel Owens Wow. I honestly don't have the time to explain to you how 'not believe' and 'believe to be false' are not the same thing, but I bet you probably would not pay attention, so screw it Go look up the 'not guilty' null hypothesis. Saying not guilty doesn't mean you think the person is innocent, dumbass. Just that the evidence has not been sufficient to say they are guilty. That's it. I am an Atheist and I do not believe your claim that a god exists. Until you support your claim and prove it, I won't believe in it. Doesn't mean I think god doesn't exist. That would be the anti-theist position. I'm just here, waiting for the evidence. When you present it, I believe. Right now, I do not accept your claim.
Ah, I love a good challenge. *puts on pot of coffee* I can not make you believe or disbelieve, that's the point of the free will given upon creation. But there are some "signs" if you call it that, and only if you believe they are, like the fact that the donkey is grey haired with a black cross of hair going down its back and across its shoulders, which is the animal Christ rode into Jerusalem on (so in theory no one can tell Christ to get off His high horse, for the donkey is much lower than a horse. Bad pun, I know). But even this could just be thought of as a coincidence and not proof. The anti-venom for snake venom? Snake venom injected with lamb's blood. Given that the "lamb" of God took on sin on the cross could be drawn to an exhibition of injection his blood with snake's venom, figuratively. But again, this could just be chalked up to symbolism and "cute" at best. You know about steel rebar, how it works with concrete? It turns out we have a cellular rebar system, cells that hold our cells together called Lamanim. What it looks like? A cross. So every human is practically held together by microscopic crosses. Some claim it looks more like the medical symbol, but that symbol looks an awful lot like the staff holding two bronze snakes God instructed Moses to make. I don't man, none of this may be solid evidence. Even if I share my encounter you're liable to not believe it. A child at the age of three mauled by a dog comes back to life quoting his mother's prayers, while she's on the ground and he's care flighted by chopper, how he talks of Jesus, how a life long atheist nurse repented that night after hearing a mangled 3 year old talking like this. Sounds like fiction and I can't make you believe. So you just live your life mate. God bless you (though you don't believe in Him)
Hey Bill, I've actually read that book at least a dozen times, and it gets better each time I read it. It is the 2nd best book I've ever read. The Bible being the G.O.A.T. Books, that is. I've been a Christian for over 50 years and never have I ever regretted living for my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Nor will I ever.
Good for you. As for me, God seems to be an absolute unjust and unfair being. He can put rapists and murders in heaven, if they repent & accept Jesus on their death bed. But will put the woman in hell, for losing her faith in him when he didn't do anything to stop those rapist. Or how God and Jesus are the same being and he knew that he would come back from the dead, and yet we are to take his sacrifice seriously? Soldiers in the Army, put their lives in danger, knowing that they are mortals, even though they have families. They go through much worse torture than Jesus (who is actually God) can ever go through. Shouldn't we worship these mortals?
Marx has criticized religion and God....religion has learned a lot from his perspectives. I don' mind having someone like him ridicule any spiritual books. If he is happy with that, why not? :) A Christian like me just need to listen carefully and learned from his arguments. By so doing, we could cleanse our heart. We don't need to be upset :) Those who can laugh themselves are usually much mature:) By the end of the day...while we thank for people who contribute for the glory of religion such as Marx Schopenhauer, and Maher, we reflectively see how they spend the last days of their lives, and compare theirs with the true believers such as Mother Theresa. In such a way, we will feel peaceful in our own faith. Thanks so much Maher
And standing in the middle of the lampstands was someone like the Son of Man. He was wearing a long robe with a gold sash across his chest. His head and his hair were white like wool, as white as snow. And his eyes were like flames of fire. His feet were like polished bronze refined in a furnace, and his voice thundered like mighty ocean waves. He held seven stars in his right hand, and a sharp two-edged sword came from his mouth. And his face was like the sun in all its brilliance. Cool to me!
Yes I have listened to Rick Warren speak at Saddleback Church. I even parked in his parking space, with my 1976 Buick Skylark, and left an oil stain. (That was not purposeful, but it did not bother me when I realized it.)
For the video, possibly, but it doesn't matter if the copyright holder doesn't care. As for the content of the book, it's legal under the law of fair use, and it's a live performance; it's the same principle for artists that cover songs as an additional feature for their concert, since they're selling the performance and not the song itself.
i prefer ricky gervais' take on noahs arc where he reads a kids book that makes it seem like a gay love story, and with symbols like the evil rainbow drowning out all the men and then returning as a sign of peace and love its just too funny
IQ is not a measure of cultured norms. It is a measure of cognition and other abilities of understanding. That is what intelligence is! IQ can rise or fall depending on how you treat your mind.
Firstly, I already answered many questions that you are restating! Secondly, how should God reveal Himself to appease YOU, personally? Does He owe you anything more than anyone else?. Go to a good Bible teaching church and learn something, bro! God exists in a spiritual dimension, because if not, he would be living here among us, and we all could see him in his physical form, right? Just because you can't see certain things, it doesn't disprove it's existence! For eons, man could not see cells and pathogens, etc, until it was revealed by the ability to see them with a microscope! The wind is invisible, but it exists! God WILL reveal himself in a way that all will see him, one day.You will get answers from a good church, all way too lengthy to get from this little encounter with me. Let me tell you, I am THEE most skeptical person ever! I don't swallow jack, until it is has been scrutinized thoroughly! My conclusion of God's existence is based on much scientific fact, along with the utterly immense odds that what exists could possibly happen by random chance, which basically ZERO! (Scientific stats)! You ask what created God? If God were created, then that which created him would be God! Our finite minds know only beginnings and endings, and cannot comprehend how God has existed forever, but I can much better swallow that explanation, rather than to believe all the incredible things of this world and beyond just popped out of fairy dust! I TRIED to make myself believe it, but I just can't! Answer me this. Again I ask, if an animal "needs" to evolve certain appendages, or blinking lights, or whatever "thing" they "need" to survive, and attract their prey, HOW do they, in the meantime, (meantime equaling "millions of years") survive during that ever so slow change, with all the endless amounts of offspring giving birth to MORE offspring, and slowly changing shape, until, FINALLY, they have their completed "necessary goodies" to now "survive"? And again, IF they survived all those eons to finally complete their evolving, did they even need to evolve such appendage in the first place? If they somehow were able to feed themselves all that time and reproduce, what was the point? Was some angler fish way down there thinking, "HMM, I am starving my ASS off, cos I can't attract any prey, so I will just WILL myself to evolve some weird light thing in my head, and then the fish will come and trip out on it, and BAM! I will eat them! Works for me"! I mean, dude! That is the joke of evolution. And, if you can also believe that animals all came initially from one squiggly cell, floating (in some muck that created itself, and pushing aside the fact that FIRST there was Earth and it's massive expanse of water that "created itself" ) in order to support life, that just "magically" came into existence, and then just kept changing shape, and evolving, and making gazillions of different species of insects, fish, mammals, on, an on, then YOU have a "god" I cannot fathom! IF GOD DESIGNED life to come forward in such a way, I could believe it, if that were His will to make it as such, but to believe that all of that happened by chance, you really have to ask, Who has more faith, me, or you!?
By the way, if you can show me a scientific method that will produce the scientific results of life being created out of some muddy water, and turning into a single cell, that then splits into more cells, (do you even know how complex a single cell is?), you will win! As of yet, NO scientific proof of that occurrence being replicated.
***** i suppose that shows just how ignorant you are, those experiments are based on hypothetical s and not actual known facts. you say that those experiments prove that god doesnt exist, i say that they prove that they do exist. after all god is the greatest scientific mind. what you call science i call gods creation
That is an amazingly honest admission from a missionary, and right on point. If you can't get people to hate themselves, they'll never fall for the idea that they need to prostrate themselves before a savior, to avoid a "well deserved" punishment. Just look at Ray Comfort's favorite spiel - "Have you ever told a lie? Then you're a liar. Have you ever taken something that wasn't yours? Then you're a thief. etc." It's all about self-loathing.
Absolutely true! It's like a criminal taking on overweight security guards while running from the police and definitely staying far away from the judge!
Man, I remember when me and a buddy read that book to see what the fuss was all about. I didn't appreciate his book like many others did. I also tend to think that another man or woman's thoughts on the Word of God aren't quite as "on par" with the authority God Himself commands. That includes Bill Maher. His eisegesis of scripture doesn't lend credence to his position any more than a Christian who misunderstands what he or she reads in scripture. If only more Christians and non-Christians availed themselves of the chances to learn something they didn't know before and, until then, utilized those three wonderful words in conversations of faith and God: "I don't know."
I think he meant eisegesis. I looked it up (never heard of it so I learned something today). The term describes religious people. Read and act on what you think it says. Not a good thing when the babble has been translated wrong so many times (and proven a mistranslation). Lots of people might like Bill's sense of humor cause they pay money to see him. However, someone would have to have blinders on in order to read the babble as a "good book".
"the laws of physics do not state that everything had to have a beginning" Go look at the formula for all three laws of physics, and let me know which one is not derived with time as a variable (not direct, but as an underlying). Having time as a variable means everything has a beginning and end, with a limit approaching a certain value. That's fine if you don't understand, it took me four years in a Mathematics program at a university. Feel free to message me if you would like to know more.
In “Occupying Chairlifts” a simple rule tweak on inheritance ends up changing the direction and purpose of modern human life! Here’s a fair way to transition forward to where we’re rewarded for cooperating and creating instead of competing and conquering. It's something specific we can demand. If this isnt the best answer, at least we’re thinking about what might be. Are we really just this close to having it work right? Oh yeah, it's a Ski movie! “Occupying Chairlifts” on UA-cam!
If my 141 IQ makes me a moron then what does that make you "peter"? Hey Pete, the family and I went to Saddleback last night and the guest pastor was the founder of the Dream Center In Los Angeles. What a great message they help 1000's of homeless, drug addicts, prostitutes, runaways, and needy families all in the name of Christ. What have you done lately for you fellow man?
Rick: "Hey, I got a dog!"Friend: "Oh, cool. Why'd you get a dog?"Rick: "To show how great I am."Friend: "Okay, well, Rick, I don't think you're great for having a dog."Rick: "Not to you, to the dog!"
Remind me of a bumper sticker I saw the other day :
I've got nothing against God, it's his fan club I can't stand !

While I was trying to tactically tell her I had little interest in the cause my dog swiped my sandwich before i got a third bite."
==I've never had any gay rights activist come to my door. They have the right to marry in Canada since 2006.
But these jewhova witnesses are all over the place. Once every 2 years or so, they come and visit your house. They are in the subways from 8 AM to 8 PM. Is this how they make a living?
Imagine if every religion was like this.

I have not seen a JW working the streets for many years. They must have got discouraged and moved north.
+windingpath Yeah I saw that one. It said "God please save me from your followers!" Love it
There are several 'God' channels. my family thinks I watch them because I am secretly religious. Little do they know that nothing chuckles me like religious nonsense. It's stand up.
you are liar then
yes. I am closet gay for God
He's like, secretly not secretly religious? His deception is inception.
Woa they are so naive
Oh, MY, the Christers are all upset about DECEPTION.
Christers are the biggest liars on the planet.
The pure mocking tone and smirk of Bill Maher when he says, "This guy brings me pleasure!" Just classic. Perfect.

I was stupid forgot my account password. I love any tips you can give me!
@Gerald Tyler instablaster :)
I am not an athiest but It takes so much ignorance and blind faith to believe in the bible.
The reason for everything.... obviously the second law of thermodynamics.

@@louielouie22 exactly. Foolish nonsense.
When I worked & lived on a Christian summer camp they made all of us teenage boys read from this nonsensical book every night as part of our "devotional readings" . Ironic how I was brainwashed to believe that the book made total sense. Today, 12 years later I see it as comical nonsense !

David Jones
The Lord is your Shepard.
Also, can't believe that the ultimate truth is actually in religions; it has just been hidden though.
amazing shit son
Most religions have a large number of decent people in them, a great many of whom think that their innate decency is because of the religion.
They should give themselves more credit.
"Not including religions in an explanation of the ultimate truth or not revealing the truth in religions would do the opposite of what the truth needs to do" - this is intriguing. What great truth could be resisted or cause conflict among the religious simply by not involving their creation story?
The book should be titled: THE PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE TO INSANITY.
This is too funny...almost made me cry with laughter...
'"Noah loved God more than anything else in the world, even when no-one else did!" - Yeah, God had some bad years... it's not all tits and champagne in that business!'

@@mattt7238 You have no idea about logic, right?

I was 8 years-old when I started to question what was god and why do people believe in it. I went to bible classes and after 2 hours, my little innocent me just thought it was all too ridiculous to be true. My family, the priest and the nuns were all hysterical and tried over and over to explain the word and teachings of Christianity. My mom even bought dozens of books filled with biblical stories in cartoon form. Didn't work.
Eventually, I did read and studied the bible as an adult and it just convinced me even more that is all a myth, as other religions and mythologies.
Religion is poison.

It's easy to pick this book apart. I personally wouldn't scoff at the purpose driven life, unless you've read it from cover to cover. My question here for you is this : What is your relationship with the God of your understanding? If you don't have one, read this book from end to end, then let me know what you think.
It shows how ludicrous the Bible is when just reading out passages can be a comedy routine.

I read that book some years ago. It was in the library, and I was curious. It seemed to be for children because of the way it was written.

I would love to see a stand up special that's nothing more than Bill Maher giving TPDL the MST3K treatment.

That's comedy for you. Sometimes you get a hit, sometimes you get a miss, and sometimes you just get a "huh?"

Sorry but this is perhaps the most foolish post so far.
IW Brown care to back that up?
***** oh yes of course my bubble has been burst and you have now left me confused and perplexed....NOT! give me a break, youre going to put your faith and base your beliefs on what Hawking and Dawkins think they know about the bible? Do yourself a favor and do your own personal research without relying on so-called smart scientists.
I love Bill Maher (:
I find it funny that atheists believe in nothing. Why, it takes blind faith to believe in nothing! "I don't believe in God" is still saying "I believe He doesn't exist." Even simply saying "I know He doesn't exist" is exhibiting faith that you're right. Having faith in your own "intellect" is still faith.
+Daniel Owens Very good point!
+Daniel Owens That's why atheists aren't any better when it comes to claiming a moral high ground.
agreed!
+Daniel Owens Wow. I honestly don't have the time to explain to you how 'not believe' and 'believe to be false' are not the same thing, but I bet you probably would not pay attention, so screw it
Go look up the 'not guilty' null hypothesis.
God bless you (though you don't believe in Him)
I volunteer at the Huntington Beach Public Library, teaching reading to adults who do not know how to read.
I feel like God will strike me for even watching Bill Maher.
Okay. Like idk how to feel about my LOLs 😔

Yes I have listened to Rick Warren speak at Saddleback Church. I even parked in his parking space, with my 1976 Buick Skylark, and left an oil stain. (That was not purposeful, but it did not bother me when I realized it.)
What they did not tell you was that Rick Warren was only six when he wrote this book.
IQ can rise or fall depending on how you treat your mind.
a life without PURPOSE has no MEANING
My physican wanted me to read that book. My doctor!! A supposedly man of science.
That is shocking, truly. Is it reasonable to assume you're from the USA? I just couldn't conceive of that happening here in the UK.
rationalmartian Yes. I'm from the USA.
*****
i suppose that shows just how ignorant you are, those experiments are based on hypothetical s and not actual known facts. you say that those experiments prove that god doesnt exist, i say that they prove that they do exist. after all god
is the greatest scientific mind. what you call science i call gods creation
The Joker: Ooohhh. You want to play. Come on! - Batman The dark knight 2008
He may be a comedian but he does have a point of view.Though he has never come out and said he is an atheist. He leans very much in that direction.
Its nice to see have people having a debate instead of flame war :D
827 people need a reality check.
Absolutely true! It's like a criminal taking on overweight security guards while running from the police and definitely staying far away from the judge!
You ARE Bill Maher aren't you? Can I have your autograph Oh wise one?!
4:40 "...is organized..." LOL
i would call you ignorant, but you're not, you've heard the truth. All i can do is pray for you. God bless you man.
I don't know what it is about his shirt, but I really like it. idk if thats real or not.
Oh gosh... I have this book.
That's good, you never know when you might run out of TP.
"eisegesis " I presume you mean "exegesis". Don't use words you can't spell or don't understand.
"the laws of physics do not state that everything had to have a beginning"
Go look at the formula for all three laws of physics, and let me know which one is not derived with time as a variable (not direct, but as an underlying).
If you use that you have to give me credit.
I didnt knew they make mic stands that short
hate is a strong word with no room for sympathy
Omg this was great! Good laughs ;D !!
