- Gold Panning in the United Kingdom in the stunning Scottish Highlands. There is a modern day Gold Rush in the UK with a new gold mine in town at the Connonish mine site. On this trip we visit Tyndrum where there is gold in abundance ! . If you are into gold panning videos then this might be just for you. .
I am a gold prospecting film maker where my aim is to share my experiences with you, and more importantly to give you a honest account of what I find.
thank you for watching MrDazP1.....

one of the best videos ive watched on UA-cam. Superb clarity. Lovely editing. Straightforward, informative and no nonsense. I work on the west highland railway line that runs adjacent to that river and every year I say to myself I must come back and do a bit of gold panning in the summer time. Your video has inspired me to do that this year (covid depending). Happy gold hunting and once again great video. Top drawer stuff, well done.
Thank you so much for the kind words. I was extremely lucky on this trip to have such fantastic weather and as for the gold. That was a bonus. I never expected to find that much on my first visit to this place. It can take years to learn river systems so maybe the river gods were looking down on me. Best of luck if you take up this hobby and be mindful of gold fever.
It must be frustrating being so close to it lol. You'll kick yersen if you don't have a go 👍

Thanks for watching and passing on your comments. I never expected to find such nice pieces on this trip.
Some of the best videography I've seen, both with drone and on the ground. Amazing gold in the UK!
Thanks for the feedback Conor. The weather was great and the light was really good too on the mountain which does help with things.
Great video. But where's the all important "Weigh in"? Every gold rush should have one. 👍👍👍
Yes I think your right there buddy. It's hard trying to please everyone and to cover every possible angle for such a wide audience. I will weigh the gold soon so stay tuned.
There was no weigh in? Man... Glad I read the comment without wasting any more of my time watching... This video is next to pointless without knowing the final weight! XD
@@snaz27 Thanks for taking the time to reply and share your views on the matter regarding the all important weigh in.
@@snaz27 Trust me this video is far from pointless! The amount of information and tips on how to find British gold was great. It's not all about the weigh in, even though it would be nice to get a final tally. It's your loss if you don't watch it, but i'll be definitely subscribing.
@@Lookoutmedia353 - Why would I trust you? I will trust myself, thanks though... For me it is pointless! To be honest even a weigh in is not enough! I want to know how much it cost to travel there, did he stay in a hotel... Basically, what was the profit for the trip... This is the kind of information I would want to know... The rest is fine yeah (how to find gold etc), no problem, but without that other information I mentioned it's useless!
great vid! loved the drone footage very slick.
Ive always fancied going up to Tyndrum to do some prospecting. looks like you found a great location
Cheers, you could spend all day flying the drone up there it is simply stunning. I was surprised to find that much in one place to be honest.
First class video, thanks
Cheers Magni1, it was a few years ago now but I should a few more videos from Scotland to edit over the coming months
Look at all that bare land, it saddens me the Scots fir, oak and other big trees used to dominate the area till it was destroyed
Zoe P The communities were destroyed 200 years ago it was called the highland clearances.
The ground is too shallow to support trees like oak its mostly rock with a bit of top soil.
@@garethzero Scotland was once almost 100% covered in a vast Forest, some of the ancient Caledonian forest which formed after the last ice age can still be found in areas of Tyndrum, most of the deforestation of the Scottish Highlands was a result of subsequent Wars and the need for fuel and building materials for the British Army and Naval forces.. and also the industrial revolution... When you remove a forest you also remove the soil from the land and the ability for people to sustain a living from that land. Tyndrum/ The Highlands could easily have supported Oak trees, before the deforestation.. but the Caledonian Pine tree was dominant in the Highlands.
@Gers Dallas I know it because I have seen them with my own eyes .. The remnance of these ancient forests are preserved for all to see in peat bogs all over the Highlands.
@Gers Dallas www.nature.scot/professional-advice/land-and-sea-management/managing-land/forests-and-woodlands/history-scotlands-woodlands ...... some info.. some of it common sense and obviously it doesn't explain everything.. but it does explain the basics. Enjoy !
Well done mate I can appreciate all the hard work you put in , keep at it , love your tenacity and enthusiasm !
Thanks for the comments and thank you for watching.
Really enjoyed the video. I live here been thinking of doing this for a while. Also tyndrum is pronounced Tyne drum
Thank you for this. I asked a Scottish colleague of mine (Glasgow) or a (Weegy)? Who said it was Tin - drum. But I stand corrected by you. Thanks again for this.
MrDazp1 Yes. Tyne Drum. From the Gaelic meaning “ house on the ridge’
I only clicked to see if it'd be pronounced correctly. Tbh it took me a good 10 years of visiting the to learn. Nice drone footage!
@@hlund73 There are places all over the UK that have local place names I can't say correctly and I live near them lol. Slaithwaite is pronounced Slouwit ! You can't win.

Welcome aboard Thomas and thanks for watching the videos , cheers budddy.
I am starting to do prospecting because of your great videos where is the best place to find that amount of gold I live in the north east of England in Newcastle eney ideas would be great thank you 😁👍
Hello Gary and thanks for the comments. If you can pop over to Scotland you will always be finding gold many locations like Leadhills, Wanlockhead etc. You could try the river Coquet or the rivers in the Northern Pennines near Nenthead. I would research why the Romans wanted to settle near Vindolanda too (Just a thought) The best thing about prospecting is to try your luck on any nearby river or stream and find the bedrock with cracks in it or where the gravels are covering the bedrock.
hi
Did you jave to get land owners permission etc to prospect
On this trip I did not, gold panning seems to be accepted up here.

Haha great response, what do you mean by renewable planning when throwing the gold back into the water? Hello from Wales btw.
@@martin096 he said "renewable _panning_" -- presumably the idea being that he is panning for fun, not for profit, so the gold is returned to the river so other people can partake in the hobby. The natural processes by which the gold becomes available in the stream bed take much longer than the human processes to extract it so if the gold was not returned it would become depleted at that location and the hobby would be less sustainable.
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures Great video , like the camera work and music

Why the hell would you waste your time in effort in doing this and then throw it back to the river? You could have at least sold it and given the money to a local nature reserve or something.
I enjoy developing my editing and film making hobby and find the gold prospecting a great subject to work with. For me it's about proving it is there or not. I have received strongly worded replies for showing the tiniest of pieces in other films but to me it's never a waste of time or about finding that £50k nugget. This is my prospecting journey so far and hopefully a few more trips to come. I wouldn't even know who to sell it to. Thanks for the comments and dropping by.
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures i appreciate that you are just doing what you love but personally i think if you did sell the gold and give it back to the community in which you found it, it would be such a humble thing to do and people would really respect you for it. If he got all that gold which is in the picture at 33:15 in a day or weekend then its not as bad as it seem's, it look.s to me to be at least 2 to 4 grams but its hard to tell from the photo, if it is, its worth £ 60 to £110, which would amount up to a nice Christmas bonus if he was to go there ever weekend for 12 month's

Hi Daz, love the channel and the videos. Extraordinary to see how much you can find. I'm currently saving my gold to forge mine and my partners wedding rings. I'd love to come with you sometime so you can show me the ropes as I am not having much luck! I am aiming to go to Tyndrum in a month or so. Be great to hear from you.
Hello Jake, it's a great hobby to get into for sure. We all need a bit of patience and some good luck at times. I was planning to be up there as we speak but unfortunately all the best made plans of mice and men springs to mind
Class video
Big thumbs up for the reply. Cheers.
Awesome work bro! You have a lot of the same style when it comes to drone videography as I do! Love it. Sweet adventure and location, and of course the shiny in the pan! Keep it up and thanks for taking us along. New Sub
Cheers Mayhem P, the drone really adds that little extra touch to the videos when you are trying to tell the story. I use a DJI Crystal monitor for the connection to the drone via a clever little mount which looks really neat.
I will check your channel out too.
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures I have never seen that, I'll look into it! But I absolutely agree, not only does it make epic B roll but it lets the viewer really see everything about the location! Heck yeah bro thank you!
Small amounts but nice to have through your hard work. Thanks for taking the time and effort to make this entertaining film for the UA-cam community. Best wishes.
Thanks for watching, UA-cam is the future.
Beautifully shot, very professional
I will take that as a compliment say thank you and cheers.
Nice clean up dude, Great video. 👌
Thanks for watching, yes not bad for my first trip there.
A great little portable wash plant, looks like you found a good amount but there needs to be a weigh in to finish off.
I don't normally find enough to weigh to be honest.
Stay tuned my friend for some extra bits and a weigh in as a part 2.
Brilliant video, definitely like to see more especially in Scotland 🔟/🔟
Cheers for the great feedback it is always appreciated and makes it seem worth the while.
