Hakeem is the complete Big Man.
K.A.T. gonna have problems with those words😂
that`s well said.
Overated
Hakeem seemed to have an effortlessness about him. He was more agile than most guys his size, but never looked like he had to try very hard. He made it look so easy, which is usually a cliche thing to say.
If Hakeem played in this era he would be the Point Center bringing up the ball with crazy handles. He would be the craziest hybrid ever. He'd be averaging a triple double and winning defensive and MVP awards
And he would be shooting 3s too with a high percentage! I mean if Brooke Lopez could become a 3 point threat, when he started his career playing in the low post, imagine what Hakeem The Dream coulda done!
nah.. it would be boring to watch him play this era.. better when he had men that tried to guard him
@@wallieshere lol
And someone said Jokic is a better center than Hakeem Olambiwonnu Olajuwon
I definitely consider him an all time great. I'd take him over Shaq any day because he was so much more versatile.
The twin towers of Houston..if you weren't there to watch it.
Omg! You have no idea how exciting basketball was .
I agree!
My only question. Did you see Shaq in his prime? Fast break... full court dribbling behind his back. Eluding the defense.... monster dunk!
The Dream was amazing to watch.
Miss the basketball i grew up with. But i hear what you're saying.
Much respect
Well he would make Shaq look bad every time they played head to head. So yeah, I'd take him over him too. Hakeem is the GOAT at center and criminally underrated all time.
I think I would take him over any other center ever
Shaq literally said the only person he couldn't stop was The Dream
I'd say most skilled, most graceful big in NBA history.
He didn't dominate with his physique but dominated with footwork, grace, smarts. Cat-quick AF too especially when he was younger.
Hakeem is my personal pick for goat and my favorite player of all time.
I loved Shaq but Hakeem ate him alive... and Ewing and Robinson and Kareem. The greatest, the most complete Center EVER!
shaq actually avg more points rebounds assists and blocks than hakeem whan they played against each other😂
ate him alive huh🤣
When because I saw every game????
And Jordan had a winning record over Jordan's great dynasty with that low budget rockets team

Of all the GOATS on this channel, this one is legit.
Hakeem is my goat
The duo of Hakeem Olajuwon and Ralph Sampson disbanded due to Sampson's injury, but if Sampson had not been injured and the duo had continued, the Rockets would have built a dynasty in the 1980s and 1990s.
Losing Wiggins and Lloyd hurt the Rockets more than Sampson being injured
@@hakeemolajuwon4352 Lewis "black magic" Lloyd
DAMN THOSE KNEES!!! Ralph was KG before his time.
I always reiterate that if my man Ralph Sampson hadn't incurred those horrendous injuries, Michael Jordan wouldn't be remembered in the same way; people look at me askance like I'm the biggest fool of all time.
@@camaradiop3731 I have some memories of Ralph Sampson, but Jordan still would have gotten a couple in. Maybe not six, but still four.
Hakeem my starting center... he was an amazing two way player :)
Top 3 big men ever. Olajuwon fan from Brazil.
The 90s were a golden era for NBA centers. Look at how many of these highlights show Hakeem beating fellow legends like Shaq, Ewing or Robinson.
Totally agree. And amazingly we're not mentioning Mourning, Mutombo and Smits.

A Golden Era for Centers … dominated by a guard😂

I'm a huge David Robinson fan, but Hakeem was built differently. One of the greats to ever play, arguably the best center I've ever watched.

Comparing an all time great to Javale(no disrespect to Javale) is insane, how do you even make that comparison even if you don't particularly like Hakeem, his #'s speak for itself...
What are Javale's #'s like side by side?
Has he even made an All-Star team or All NBA team, 1st, 2nd or 3rd ever before?😏
A big fat NO?!
@@benlagman1🤡🤡
March of 1990, Hakeem recorded a quadruple-double against the Golden State Warriors with 29 points, 18 rebounds, 11 blocks, and 10 assists. Nuff said. :) I am German and hate to say this, but he is better than Dirk (Marginally :) ) with regards to the best foreigner to ever lace them up. Yanni and Luka still coming up. For now Hakeem is still number 1.
And we all never really knew what Sabonis could do outside the NBA. He could have and might be the true number 1. But the Soviets kept a tight lid on him. He destroyed international games, and too bad the US only ever sent pros to the Olympics after 1992.
I'm Texan and they are my 2 Favorite players.
Hakeem was easily one of the nest of all times. He is the only player that Jordan respected a lot. Whenever MJ talks about Hakeem, he really means it and that says a lot
I wished they had met in the Finals, woulda been a match up for the ages
True 😊
He's not the only player Jordan respected alot where did you get that nonsense from
Jordan respected quite a few players back then.

Jordan's pick for all-time pickup game: Magic, Pippen, James Worthy, and Hakeem the Dream. Jordan has complete respect for Hakeem's game because he dominates both ends of the floor.
My all time favorite! I wanted the Rockets to play the Bulls in the finals so badly in the 90’s. That would have been a great matchup!
I agree the greatest Center of all time
Agree, if I had a team not even as good but just close to the Shaq Lakers or the 90's bulls, no one would forget about him, no one
I'm always immediately clicking one of your videos with Hakeem in it!
Hakeem The Dream!!!
Haven't watched your latest input in a while yet I'm a subsriber

My favorite big by far! Silky smooth game, graceful, unbelievable finesse. Footwork the greatest next to Kobe. As skilled and agile as any guard. A defensive juggernaut and an offensive wizard. I can go on and on.
Kobe got footworks training from Hakeem

I'm a huge Hakeem Olajuwon fan. He left a huge mark on the NBA and most people don't even remember his '86 finals run when Hakeem averaged 11.8, 5.5 steals+blocks, and 24.7 against the greatest frontline in NBA history.
I just hope the haters realize now why Jordan didn't want to face Olajuwon.
Who dislikes the big Hakeem? He is an awesome pivot and a grizzly at defense, multiplying humongous blocks and rebounds. He has heart, it's impossible not to like a player as soulful as him, even if he plays against your team!
he's also top 10 all-time in steals. which for a center is unheard of.
U buy the hype hakkeem overated
@@RoBLuv-g6uNo because he wasn't
@@RoBLuv-g6u Ignorance is an ugly thing!!
Most talented Center ever.
Dream was the greatest center I've ever seen in 40+yrs watching the NBA
I think he is the best center of all time.
I love Hakeem despite being a lifelong Spurs fan but people oughta compare him and David’s stats more because they’re virtually identical both are underrated honestly, big men they stole the ball like they did was rare I know Hakeem beat us in the playoffs but that season series we dominated the Rockets that year but we lost when it mattered most I appreciate greatness and ball at the end of the day.
Not even close. Olajuwon recorded between 220-376 blocks and between 100-213 steals for his first 12 seasons! Olajuwon is the only player to record 200+ blocks and steals in the same season and Olajuwon was pulling down 1,100+ rebounds in multiple seasons! Olajuwon recorded 2 quadruple doubles in the same month, and Olajuwon is the closest a player has ever come to recording a quintuple double
Total agreement. Lifelong spurs fan here also. As much as i love the admiral, Hakeem was another animal. Both probably the most athletic centers that ever played, but Hakeems savvy and endless array of post moves were nearly impossible to defend. The Dream would be my no. 1 center without question
@@pick6whodat Yeah whenever I do my all time starting 5 he’s my Center because of his skill set.
when you ask MJ who will be a big man to go to war with him,he always say that will be Hakeem.
Fun fact about Hakeem the Dream. He never really won a championship without another superstar in his prime. In 94, he was the only superstar on his team, and in 95 Clyde Drexler, was still good but he wasn't the Clyde Drexler of 1992. All the other big men that won championships, had other all time greats to help them out. Shaq had Kobe, and D Wade. Kareem had the Big O, Magic and James Worthy. Wilt had Jerry West, Hal Greer and Billy Cunningham. Bill Russell had Bob Cousy, John Havlicek, and Sam Jones to name just a few of his all time great teammates! David Robinson had Tim Duncan! And so on and so forth!
You say the opposite of what you mean….2nd sentence
Hakeem had everything in his arsenal and his footwork is the best any big man ever had, bar none
Agree, I said it so many times, and a bag load of post moves and many post counter moves as the situation asks, defense, rebounding, leadership and the list goes on
Moses and Lanier both had great footwork too
@@HiNRGboy you're not listening, the Dream had all the moves in his arsenal + jumpshot and on top of all that the best footwork that any big man could dream of.
@@HiNRGboy yeah, we didn't say he is the only we could move his feet, just he was the best at it among the centers
@@sergeimalynovskyi1370 I don't need to listen to you, I saw the Dream play LIVE I'll let Hakeem speak for himself. I never said any Center was like Hakeem, all I said was there are other Centers that also have great footwork and could score at ease. You do realize Moses taught Hakeem I hope..
BEEN A FAN OF HAKEEM THE DR34M OLAJUWON SINCE 92 HAPPY I WAS ABLE TO WATCH ALL THEM 🚀 🚀 🚀 ROCKETS GAMES BACK THEN AND CELEBRATE DOWN RICHMOND AND WESTHEIMER WHEN THEY WON BACK TO BACK TWOSTON
people make fun of the blazers for taking sam bowie over MJ. With Olajuwon, they shrug and say, “I get it.”
The 1993-1994 nba finals were kind of boring because they were a mirror match between two similar teams (rockets and knicks) and despite the rockets not having a second scorer as good as starks at the time (they got clyde the next season), they won because Olajuwon was enough better than Ewing to give their outside shooters the space to get hot with three point shots.
an more fun to watch finals would have been if the MJ-less bulls had gotten past the knicks to face the rockets that year. it wouldn’t have gone to 7 games because the Dream would have cut through the Bulls’ committee of Dorks at center like a hot knife through butter, but it would have been fun to watch.
Nope I love Hakeem as much as MJ, Shaq, Magic and Larry Legend
Hakeem better than and Shaq
Hakeem "The Big African" Olajuwon was the only man Jordan feared on the court
One of the best centers to play the game
MJ used to refer to Hakeem as "that African"😂😂😂😂.... Because he knew that Hakeem was just as great as himself
Well, here in Houston we love, love, love the Dream and always will. Fond memories of watching the other team drive the lane and we're like "Don't you know Hakeem is in there?!!?!? No, really, go ahead, try your luck, pal." With his footwork, body control, strength, speed, quickness, agility and intelligence, quite possibly the best athlete I've ever seen in any sport, anywhere, and I'm 61 years old. My buddy taught Hakeem how to play tennis in college and says he's still picking yellow fuzz out of his teeth today after Hakeem figured out how to come to the net on every point.
to answer the title question: NO you are not the only one, hakeem is my top all around center EVER. thanks for showing him the love he deserves.
another great video!
Fun fact. Reggie Lewis was the other player to have blocked Michael Jordan's shot 4 times!
You know all the "GOAT" talk is so silly, it's so subjective. Better just to say who your favourite is; and for me it's Dream
Hakeem the Dream is the GOAT of centers IMO! And Michael Jordan shares the same sentiment!
I think he was better than Shaq. Watched him in his prime live frequently. Unreal. Best footwork ever too.
I loved Olajuwon as well, and even told the barber to cut my hair like Robert Horry, strait up. Loved the Rockets. Still do
Olajuwon is in my top 5. He is number 2 center behind Wilt, I think he is a more complete player than Kareem
Hakeem stats since rookie are amazing.
And on top of that.. he was not selfish.
never forcing for a shoot,
It came naturaly with the flow of the game
To me Hakeem is the total package big man...maybe the best all around center ever. Not the most dominant, the most complete package of skills, moves, offense and defense
How is Olajuwon not the most dominant center?! He was too quick for the bigger centers and too strong for everybody else. His defense is second to none, so he was also dominating on defense, and when it comes to being clutch and having killer instinct, he's up there with Jordan and Kobe. Who else is more dominant than Olajuwon?
@@hakeemolajuwon4352 I guess by "dominant" he just means bulldozing like Shaq. 🤷♂

He's my all-time favorite player. I didn't really get into basketball until 1994, and I watched the Knicks-Rockets Finals. Of course I knew who Jordan was and I had seen how great he was, but he was playing baseball. Seeing Hakeem dismantle Patrick Ewing made an impression on me, and then seeing him beat every great big man the year after also solidified him as my GOAT.
Dismantle? Not so ...he outplayed Ewing yes but dismantle is a stretch.......what Hakeem did to Robinson THAT was not only a dismantle but an outright ass whooping and he totally EMBARRASSED Robinson!
Agreed, he got the better of ewing but not dismantled. For me ewing did better against dream that shaq or Robinson.
@@MrBez007 yes
@@MrBez007 and ppl either don't know or forget that Ewing got the best of Hakeem in college which was before Pat's chronic knees issues.... Shaq, Hakeem and Robinson (although David rode Duncan's coattails) won in NBA but Pat won an NCAA chip which some fans consider even bigger.
@@Todd170
Ewing did not get the best of Hakeem in college. Georgetown won the title and Hakeem was still named most valuable player.
Georgetown had a team of future nba players (Wingate, Williams) alongside Ewing. Hakeem had a bunch of scrubs....once he left for the nba the cougars fell completely off the ncaa basketball landscape in terms of even making the tournament much less being a powerhouse
I still say to this day, The Dream was the best Big Man, though he only has 2 Chips. I know some other bigs (Shaq and The Admiral) had their moments where they got him, but he was an amazing player. And to thing that he was 7'1"......and playing like a shooting guard is just unreal.
Sadly, history keeps the stats. Would he had a team just close to the shaq's Lakers or Jordan bulls, he would be right up to the goat debate
He was just under 6’11”
Nope in fact he’s the center on my all time top 5
I HAVE HAKEEM AS NUMBER 2....KAREEM 3....WILT 4...MAGIC 5....KOBE 6....DUNCAN 7...BIRD 8....RUSSELL 9.....SHAQ 10......JORDAN FOR ME...1...
You Can Make Unlimited Videos For Hakeem Still It Would Not Be Enough To See Him . He Was The Best Center Ever Played The Game In Every Way .. The Dream
If someone tells me they feel Kareem, Russell or Wilt was better, I can totally see why. But Dream is my favorite center. The only knock might be he didn't have great FG%, because he took so many mid-range shots. But having to respect his shooting led to so many defenders getting bamboozled. Plus, he was one of those guys that was also fun to watch on defense. Rare to see a guy that was as enjoyable to watch on both ends.
And I think Hakeem is not even a 7 footer, maybe 6'10, 6'11 tops... My dad has pictures of him besides his teammates Horry and Otis Thorpe and he's far from being way taller than both. Much like a 6'10 Alonzo Mourning beside his Georgetown buddies in Ewing and Dikembe, both legit 7 footers, Dream was just long, lean and athletic. Btw, he's also dominant, Shaq would agree.
Facts💯, the Dream wasn't a legit 7footer, more like 6'11 tops..
He was just insanely athletic and his basketball instincts were second to none, esp on the defensive end.
He wouldn't bite for fakes, that's why he's the all time leading NBA shot blocker...
And he's top ten all time in steals as well, that's unheard for a big, his defensive instincts were otherworldly.

Hakeem, Kareem, Shaq, TD, Joker. These are the top 5 centers from the 80’s going. Sorry Moses, you deserve more but that’s the reality.
Moses beat Kareem, he deserves far more. The '83 Sixers are one of the greatest teams ever

I Just moved to Houston from Toledo Ohio in 93, Toledo did not have an NBA team, so we were split between the Cavs, Pistons and the Bulls. Hakeem and Rudy and the Rockets gave me two Championships, 2024 I am still here! Go Rockets!
No there are lot of people who loved the DREAM ok but he is not revered as the GOAT MJ is, he won 2 rings ONLY CAUSE MJ WASNT PLAYING BASKETBALL
My all time starting 5 - MJ, Magic, Lebron, Bird and The Dream. Flexible lineup. Lots of height. Lots of basketball IQ. Three of the best defensive players of all times, plus two good team defensive players. Best scorer, shooter, and passer of all time. Defensive players that can guard multiple positions. All five can pass the ball. Possibly the two best closers of all times. Five players capable of getting double digit points, assists and rebounds. The best center at stealing the ball. The best guard at stealing the ball. All can carry the scoring load. Can’t really do much better than that…
From a real team perspective. I would replace LeBron with Pippen. Too me, LeBron's skill set would be diminished on this team. Pippen is a full capable scorer and one of the greatest defensive players of all time. Now you have two of the 5 best wing defenders of all time to go with the GOAT Olajuwon. Add two great team defensive players in Magic and Bird and that is a nasty defensive team that can just outscore if they want to.
@@kevinthomes1046 Actually I totally agree. Bills fan here. I love Scottie, but saddened by recent comments by him. I was trying to justify including him and dropping LeBron. No I loved him since UH ! Live in Houston Area. The Dream was the greatest center ever to play probably top 2 in NBA history. He or Jordan then Magic and Bird.
Hakeem the player who could potentialy break any legendary center -like Shaq admitted or Rodman trying... Actually now Jokic is the second same type of offensive force that can use timing so well. I only wonder how Hakeem would play against Bill Russell. In history he is the only big man who could possibly press that dream shake... Beautiful what ifs, indeed Hakeem is top2 defensive centers. Not only blocks and rebounds but style of defending greats like Ewing, Robinson, Shaq. I dont care if he greatest, he's also my favorite in history, maybe Jokic will get that... But always been Olajuwon :)
If you really think about it, we got to see 4 unicorns play during that era (the greatest era). MJ, Olajuwon, Barkley, and Rodman.
Seem to recall MJ putting Hakeem as the 5 in his personal all-time starting five (alongside Magic, Worthy and Pippen, if I recall correctly)
You always hear Jordan haters talk about how Jordan had an unfair superteam b/c of Rodman, but they don't talk about how a front line of prime MVP David Robinson, Dennis Rodman, Terry Cummings, and JR Reid got smoked by Hakeem with a sf playing PF and a sg playing sf. I'll take that Spurs front line vs Longley and an older Rodman anyday, but Hakeem was just that damn good in 95 and 96 unfortunately is when his knees would start to bother him after carrying putrid rosters for his best years.
John Stockton running my offense with Larry Bird and Hawkeem and i dont care who else and i like my chances against anybody's "dream team".😂
Hakeem is the greatest center of all time and a top 5 player all-time. When the casuals that run ESPN or SLAM magazine put up their top 10 players, I get so embarrassed for them. They really don't know ball.
No you're not...i also love him and MJ choose him as center on his dream team (MJ, Pippen, Magic, James Worthy and Hakeem)
😭😭😭😭 I want to go back in time!! I fell in love with basketball in 90s the game right now you can't even compare to what it was it is a joke Steph Curry ruined the game!
The craziest thing is that we’ve seen people emulate the once novel moves and abilities of past icons. Moves that changed the game.
