My family has been breaking slashes left and right in 2 weeks on an indoor course. It needs multiple upgrades, right out of the gate. Specifically, shock caps, and the tires are useless indoors, so there is another 45 bucks. I'm into my daughter's brushed 4x4 for 500 dollars already. I just picked up the brushless Caldera 4x4, with batteries, for 219! That's what I call a great deal. I would get a Team Associated any day over a Traxxas.
I swapped that servo saver out right off the bat then the servo, but I noticed the entire steering linkages were tight without connecting it to the servo. Lots of issue with this rig but after a bit of parts swapping, I got it to shred very nicely.
durability is everything when comes down to it most people want drive them rather than fix them all the time.with some extra cash you could make anything pretty durable.Nice vid
I have a blackout xte pro and have had it for about 7 months a bash the hell out of it and have not had to replace anything had it completely submerged in water still runs strong
I'm hard on my R/Cs so I sometimes crash them hard. I've had to only replace little things on my Redcats, but not moreso than my Traxxas or Team Associated. Any hobby R/C will break if you're hard on them.
I just got the blackout SC Pro brushless RTR kit and mine came with a nice lipo 2s 3s charger and I love my truck handles really well and pretty fast and there's upgrades I can do to it to make it even faster I'm going to get the metal hop up kit I'm going to get that Proline Badlands and I'm also going to get the WTF(fan) and a new ESC so I can run 3s lipo and it'll be faster than crap. Thanks for the great video
most RTR need some up grades right out of the box... that radio you can take it or leave it.... have the same one came with my exceed a few years ago...
my buddy blew his steering servo out and also locked up the radio all in one battery charge. he replaced it all with traxxas stuff. he's now in it 260 bucks plus the tires are poo so another 40 for those. with 300 9n ebay you can get a used mint slash ultimate
Redcat has one of the best warranties out there. He should of got Redcat to replace it for free. By the way, I bought a brand new 4WD Slash brushless ultimate years back and I stopped running it because not only does it not stay on the road well with 3s, it also breaks nearly every run when I put 3s pack in it. So you will have problems once you try to get any high speed out of your slash. It also doesn't stay on the road and likes to fly, so good luck with that.
How does one "lock up" a radio? The redcat radios are flysky. I like Traxxas stuff but have had nothing but failures with their TX/RX, which are also expensive - I'll take the pack-in radio from a redcat / exceed anyday over traxxas. If the flysky receiver fails, replacement is 6 bucks and works with any flysky radio (most pack in radios). plus the radios are just way more user friendly.
Flyboy Guru of your going to sell shit r/c' s you better have good customer service. They make the majority of their money on parts. I bought one and returned it, after opening the box to find a broken center linkage. I got my money back and got an axial.
