There's a moment at about 1:50 where Rachel's eyes lock onto Allison's fingers, and you just see them open wide with an "oh wow!" kind of look. Considering Rachel Eddy's one of my favorite old time banjo players, the obvious appreciation on her face really drives home just how good Allison DeGroot is.
I keep coming back to this video jam along on my banjo (clawhammer) and every time I play I start piecing the melody and notes to hit and keep getting better. Thanks for posting this video for us all to better ourselves in jam!
I keep revisiting this video too, as this song has many positive memories and lifts my mood on any given day. Thanks for playing, jamming, posting good videos - best wishes to all.
😂😂😂 I was just thinking that! This happened to a buddy of mine at another picking circle. He just rolled in and my friend almost lost the tune he was playin.
Allison DeGroot, the banjo player in blue with her back to the camera performs with Bruce Molsky, primarily with Molsky's Mountain Drifters. And the other players are no slouches; all stars in their own right.
It is awesome to watch how much the blond lady gets into playing the song . I have clogged to this and many m a ny other bluegrass songs and when the members of the band are feeling the song and they really get into it it brings out the best I'm my dancing . This song is awesome

How does this kind of music have names chosen? There seems a whimsicality that frequently goes with the feeling of the music. Would be nice if the names of the creators were somehow preserved though the overwhelming sense of community in this culture for all the ages that this music has existed might just not need that. The more I hear the music and see the dance the more I believe I’m starting to experience the ancient foundations of this. We are fortunate this continues and is not lost

My fav old tyme fiddler Bruce Molsky smiling at the table and nodding along probably hearing harmony in his head

The best music is played in a kitchen or around a picnic table, well done 👍
This is oldtime at its best, and with a star based audience . . . WOW!!! Thanks to you all. :-) Trip
You never lonely when you can play a musical instrument
Funny you should say that, every time I drag out my 5-String, fiddle, or mandolin, there are screams, puffs of smoke, and everyone has gone :)
I keep revisiting this video too, as this song has many positive memories and lifts my mood on any given day. Thanks for playing, jamming, posting good videos - best wishes to all.
Even harder if Bruce Molsky was sitting behind you like this...
I'll never forget Bruce trying to help me out when my banjo skin burst - he used Duck Tape - bad joke, I know...
I thought that was him sitting at the table.

I don’t think Bruce realizes that he’s actually famous...

I wish i could see Allison's hands while she kills it on the banjo, so I can try to replicate it. Everyone is top notch here, even the crowd!

This tune is so well played I don't think I am even worthy to say so.
I know Im kinda randomly asking but do anyone know a good site to stream new movies online ?
I feel the same way. It's almost a sacrilegious for me to listen to it let alone write a comment.
Bass fiddle has mastered the D note haha

@@pappyfiddle I'm pretty sure they're playing in D, I could be wrong though

That's just it, folk music isn't *written* and has no *creator.* It has no more a creator than say, a bird song, or these words.
Bruce Molsky unsuccessfully trying to suppress a constant grin... critical acclaim indeed.
so good
Believe I could play bass on this one.
This can't be Clifftop. It isn't raining.
Brilliant...
WOW WOW WOWIE!!!!! WHAT FUN!!! WHAT FUN!!!
Bruce Molsky casually appears in background. Nice.
