- The tune "Brilliancy" played at an end of the year fiddle jam session hosted by Jeff and Eileen in Portland, Oregon on December 28th, 2013.
The fiddlers are...in order of playing... Starr McMullen, Tabby Gholi, Cynthia Bartlett Hamm, and Eileen Walter. The back up pickers are Bob Heinith, Andy Emert, Jeff Walter, Ricky Selman, and Jonathan Trawick. Tail wagging by "Latte".
Starr is the 2014 National Senior Fiddle Champion. Tabby is the 2014 Oregon State Champion.
I love it that the ladies switch so effortlessly. Very well done all of you. Bravo!!
Wow, what a great session. All musicians are great and look like they're having a great time.
Thanks, Maria. We all feel blessed to be able to play together regularly. (when we don't have to socially distance, of course)
The dog's tail is literally wagging in time! How cute!
lol, the dog is wagging his tail to the beat :D
That was the first thing I noticed too.
What a fun time y'all had.
We sure did, baldy. Good friends, good music, good dogs...what more could you ask for?
Poor doggie - now HE'S gotta listen to the human folks howlin'...
yeah, i noticed that. lol :)
Good boy
Love it. Even the dogs tail is keeping time
OH my gosh, I wish I was at Jeff and Eileen's house - that looks like so much fun - great job everyone .... lol even the dog likes it hahahahaha
A more wonderful night I couldn't imagine-brilliant talent!
Nice fiddling, my friends. Love the idea of using the dog as a metronome.
I didn't know the dogs tail moving
That's one timely dog.
I think this is fabulous...... and I see that you were all following the dogs tail as it kept time..
While a lot of domestic pets will run in the opposite direction whenever a fiddle comes out of a case...(and who could blame them?)..."Latte" is a dog who loves fiddling. You will always find her in the middle of any jam session circle.
Takes some serious talent to do this
Amazing ! Just added this piece to my favorite playlist.
Appreciate that, Abu Norman M. Atahar Ali, PhD. There seems to be something about this video that appeals to a wide array of folks. I'm glad that you found it.
We humans probably do not know ONE PERCENT of what animals in general and especially dogs know. I'll bet he can hear frequencies coming out of those beautiful instruments we WISH we could hear.
If the fiddle players just all picked this up by ear then just wow. Either way impressive.!
I enjoyed that. A great little tune.
Just loved it. Fantastic.
outstanding, truly outstanding!!
one of my favourites....love this gal...and this tune.....
life goals! that was amazing
What a lovely musical family :3
This looked like so much fun! Great music, thank you for sharing!
It was indeed a great evening of music and fellowship and I can't think of a better way to end a year on a high note. Very glad to be able to share part of that experience with others via this video. Appreciate you stopping by, WPCM.

This music is heavenly and Tabby looks like a Goddess!
Dood old america family doing what they are born to do im so jealous 😫 love it
I watch this Brilliancy so much, feel like family... hehe- great entertaining, too good for a sitting room only, but the most fun ever:)
@SPEAKout, that "family feel" is what you get when you're a member of the fiddle family.
Jeff and Eileen's music sessions seems to be fun as hell... Thanks for sharing such cheerful music, I really needed that...
They are indeed and practically a way of life at their home. The front door is always open to friends who feel like stopping by to play some tunes. Glad you found us, deadWu. And gratified to hear the music meant something to you.
Made me smile , thanks.
Glad to hear it, Opie. Comments like yours make me smile. Thanks.

Great work, thumbs up!
This is how family and neighbors should get together loved it great job
Well stated, Colton. Just like everyone around the world, the fiddle family is comprised of many different ethnic backgrounds, political leanings, religious beliefs, etc. But when we get together, it's all about musical fellowship . Nothing else matters while we are sharing the music.
Viewing from Canada and I must say....some fine fiddle play right there, along with the mandolin and guitars of course!! Thank you all for the great listen!!
Greetings Canada. Honored to get a note from our neighbors to the the North. Thanks for dropping by the Joy of Fiddling channel.
oh i love this 😍
thanks😘
Beyond wonderful
Love to listen to great jam sessions. I need to do some dancing, maybe play like I can clog.
Good Fiddling.Love that tune.
I saw this video several years ago and it keeps me practicing. My goal is to jam like this on this tune someday.
Love to hear that, Rebecca. In the meantime, feel free to hit "Play" on this video and jam along with us anytime.
Truly Live and Real. I love it.
Well said, Sahmadi. Glad you found us.
Beautiful.
Love this!! 👍🏼 🎻
Love that you love it, Mari Anne Souza!
What the heck is in the water there? Best group of fiddlers at a jam that I can remember. Great job!
This is the most swinging version of Brilliancy!!! The fiddling is phenomenal, and so is the guitar playing! It's a wonderful recording. Thanks so much for posting this☺
Very kind words, Mr. Seagull. The gang sends their regards.
So great! You guys sure had fun... wish I had been there in person. Thanks so much for posting!
My pleasure, Joe. Sorry you couldn't be there. If you ever feel like hitting up a jam session but there aren't any musician pals around at that moment, please feel free to grab yourself a cold beverage, turn up the volume on your speakers, and press "Play" on this video. (Or any other video on the Joy of Fiddling channel.)
Fantastic.....enjoyed
Just LOVELY!!!!
That's some dam fine fiddling.
Biscuit, my 15 year old Chihuahua, digs this tune - eheheh
Thanks for keeping his Spirits up:) - he is Geriatric, and this type of Music in my Home, keeps us all Active!-Cheers!
Well, @SPEAKout, you tell Biscuit we said "Hey" and that he's welcome to listen and howl along anytime. There is no question that playing the fiddle (or any instrument for that matter) will not only add years to one's life, but will add quality to those years.
Very well done. Thank you all.
Glad you found us, Patricia. Stop by the Joy of Fiddling channel anytime.
@@joyoffiddling Love it.
Best metronome ever, who knew dogs were so versatile.
Latte's (the dog) seemingly impeccable sense of timing is perhaps attributable to her growing up around fiddlers and fiddle music and the fact she never missed a jam session. On the contrary, she was often smack dab in the middle of it, as seen in this video.
Makes me really want to learn how to play, great job!
Well, Adam, the Fiddle Family is always accepting new members. All are welcome.
Great job guys, and the dog even kept time with his\her tail :)
Beautiful I love it just playing awesome music God bless you all

Greetings Abel from Argentina! Hope you are able to return for a visit someday and maybe get a chance to experience this kind of music in person.
Amazing!
Go ahead young lady! She has a smooth bow and blended in beautifully ❤️
The talent in that room is effortless 🤗
Wow amazing! 😍❤
Phenomenal! !!
Your music channel made my days. So nicely played with full of joy. You guys are happy and talented persons. Salute from Bangkok, Thailand.
ทักทาย +Pakasit Chanvinij. I have received wonderful comments on this channel from around the world, but I never imagined I would hear from a fiddle fan in Thailand. I traveled around your beautiful country several years ago and have wanted to go back ever since. Very honored to have you visit the Joy of Fiddling. Your comment made my day. ขอขอบคุณ.
WOW GOOD TOUNNE GUYS AWSOME LOVE IT THANK YOU FOR SHARINGGGGG
Glad you found us, Raymond. Thanks for checking it out.

Raymond, it's comments like yours like make my day and make all the work worthwhile. Get yourself around some fiddlers and pickers and really bring those good old days back.
oh yes my friend me its country or nothing lol cool guys
Wooow, that sound just great. Love that style of music!!! Please make some more music!!👍🏼👌🏼❤️
Glad you enjoyed it, Annalena. Because this is one of the most popular videos on the Joy of Fiddling channel, I've been hoping to get this same group together again for some more jamming. But trying to coordinate fiddlers and pickers can sometimes be a lot like herding cats. This was a special night to have all these folks in the same place at the same time to play music together. But I'm going to keep trying to make it happen. In the mean time, I hope some of the other fiddle jam session videos on this channel will tide you over.
Thank you, it was a pleasure to listen to it. Espacially Tabi Gholi. She plays so pure. But for sure, the other ones too. One of my favorite country songs are the Gardenia Waltz and the Tennessee Waltz. It would be sooooo great if they could play these songs. They could come up as a band if they are not already. Is there any opportunity to see them playing live? Thank you very much.
Tabitha is a wonderful fiddler. Eileen was her teacher and Starr, Cynthia, Andy, and Jeff were sources of inspiration and support over the years that Tabi was growing up and learning her instrument.
While Tabi, Andy, Cynthia, and Jonathan all individually perform shows with various groups from time to time, the folks in this video are not an actual band. Just a group of friends bonded together by their mutual love of this music. For the most part, the only places we play are at fiddle contests and jam sessions like this one. I have said before that I believe some of the finest live music experiences you could hope to have do not always take place on stage...but in living rooms, garages, back yards, camp grounds, and parking lots.
I will be sure to pass along your request for Gardenia Waltz and Tennessee Waltz the next time we are together.
Yes, Tabitha had a very good teacher. It's awesome. They all play very phenomenal. Aww, thank you very much for telling them my wish. Maybe one day, when I'm in the States, I want to try to hear the live.....that would be great. Thanks again!
I can't tell you how many jams we've had from my great grandaddy's home in blue ridge to the southern most tip of Florida.
I'm grabbing my fiddle right now...yeah, it's daylight and the rooster ain't crowed good yet but it's time for him to get up.
Little Orange Blossom Special ought to get him moving!
(How to get even with a rooster😁)
Amen to that, Deanna! Give that 'ol rooster a taste!
Love it!
beautiful
Thanks for the video!
All the performers were so tuned together.
Wish there was a second camera so that we could see the strummed instruments together and watch how they got those interesting bass lines!
And a great time was had by all. fun times
coast to coast on the radio
Lovely! And note that the dog's tail keeps time through much of the tune!!
Great music
great job!
Wow, that must be at least 5/8ths of America's fiddlin' brain trust gathered in one place and at one time. And probably around 1 X 10 to the minus 23rd of the guitar pickin' brain trust. Enjoyed much! Thanks!
Well, drahow, I've always been terrible at arithmetic, so I won't even attempt to run your numbers there, but I do know they equal a compliment to the players. I can assure you there would be red faces all around at hearing such lofty praise. Thank you for stopping by.
Love this🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Glad to hear that, Cathy. More jam videos from Jeff and Eileen's are compiled here in the playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PL-7sGqQweHSjs-V2Bxy_cV_zIaQawUkjS.html
keep this up. we all need inspiration.!
Will do, Lynette.
I love this
We do, too. Glad you found us. If you like this, I believe you'll find at least a few other videos on the Joy of Fiddling channel that will be right up your alley.
This sounds so cool! Greetings from Mexico.
Saludos, Joshua! Great to hear from a fiddle fan from south of the border. Bienvenido!
Joy of Fiddling Thank you!
Indeed! Brilliancy!!
great tune
Watch the dogs tail around the 58 second mark. He has good timing! Haha
Omg so true.
That dog tail metronome technique.
Also looks like he's conducting lol
Once had a dog who did not like violins or accordeons! But I like your music fine!
Hi Diane. I don't think anyone would blame a dog or cat or any animal if they headed for the hills whenever a fiddle came out of the case. We were just lucky to have a jam dog like Latte' who really seemed to enjoy being with fiddlers and pickers. Thanks for stopping by!
Very nice guitar back up ! Nice Fiddlin too !
Nice of you to notice and say so, H.E.M.
BRAVISSIMI!!
Ive seen it many times, snd Im learning to play it in that way
Keep at it, @Oswaldo De La Rosa. When learning a new tune, repetition is key.
Thank I will
all playing together is fun
All of them are extraordinaries violinist I said I like what Tabitha did because I love the sound of double stops in violin but no doubt, those ladies knows very well how to play that style and make it in the right way
so good, never missed a beat .
It pays to play with your friends on a consistent basis.
great crowd , just had another view.
Have all the views you like, Bill. They're free. Or check out some other group jams at Jeff and Eileen's here in this Playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PL-7sGqQweHSjs-V2Bxy_cV_zIaQawUkjS.html

The dog's tail like a metronome, too funny!
