I was 6 when match game started in 73, by 74 i was watching it regularly after school. One thing I have noticed after re-watching this show as an adult is noticing how much genuine fun Gene / celebrities' / contestant's & the audience had. There was a mutual respect among all of them. It was great to see another side of the celebrities' that you didn't see on TV. None of them were DIVAS, they were just regular folks.. unlike todays entitled elitist's celebs.
Match Game was the best,,, I would make it home from grade school and watch it.It was fun filled always,,, along with being a Game Show... Still watch it on GSN,and it brings me back to the times when things were all so good. Glad I had that then,,, Because those days are so long gone.

Did anyone ever see those two episodes of All in the Family where Archie had given mouth to mouth to a drag queen who had passed out while driving his cab?
That was Lori Shannon, who appeared three times on the show between 1975 and 1977. The character's name was Beverly LaSalle. Lori Shannon was a star performer at a San Francisco drag club called Finocchio's.
Amanda’s the only blonde I liked in the blonde seat in this game. She was smart and not always relying on her blonde hair and food looks to get her over! I heard her voice and knew who she was and Richard confirmed in the episode before this one. Ms Kitty! Famous woman who could only make a woman of the night look classy. Marshal Dillon treated her like a lady too!
I know it's nearly 50 years later, but I feel a little sorry for Gary. He really wanted to be funny, but his humor was very esoteric. That's why his jokes fell flat most of the time.
IT was easy for him to guess the answers because he didn't need to write the answers. No wonder the program stopped being on the air. I think some people complained about the questions. Some of them didn't make sense at all.
It was all about being imaginative and tuning in to each other's wavelength, that's the kind of sense this show made ! It stopped being on the air because the producers and network programmers kept messing around with its time slot, not because it became unpopular. When it was in the mid afternoon spot they got some of the highest ratings of all. They should have let it be.
@@Zeuszgrl The problem was that Richard Dawson left to concentrate full time on "Family Feud", and the ratings took a slight dip. That's why the producers started messing with its time slot. Had they let it alone, it would have rebounded and might possibly have joined the ranks of the other long-running game shows: "Price Is Right", "Family Feud", "Wheel Of Fortune" and "Jeopardy".
Pat seemed like a quiet, stand-up sort of guy, a gentleman, and he was a gracious loser. 14:30. I'm hoping that when his kids and grand-kids check out this video, they can ignore the hate and just enjoy seeing Pat's reign as Match Game champion.
I love Brett, but why in the WOLD would she write an answer that she positively KNEW wasn't gonna match! I am SO SICK of these panelists giving ridiculous answers JUST to get a laugh (saint Richard does it all the time and it's SICKENING)!
A bit sexist. What would I think if I saw a photo of you? Maybe if you grew a few inches, lost 100 pounds, grew some hair, and took a bath that you would look like Brad Pitt? Why is it that the most ordinary and even ugly men think they have the right to judge women on their looks?
