Driving the Texas Hill Country Loop

- Late one Friday evening we had the wild idea of getting up the next morning to go drive the Texas Hill Country Loop. Thankfully for us, we have some pretty rad friends that love spontaneity as much as we do. It was about a 3.5 hour drive to the trail head, about 5.5-6 hours on the loop, a drive through Luckenbach, and then a 3.5 hour drive home. We had a complete blast, saw some amazing back-country, and just enjoyed the ride with some amazing friends! We've actually planned an event to drive this route again in October. You can find all of the details in the "events" section of our Jeep Around Texas Facebook group (link below).

Mayne I need to get another Jeep to go off-road with lol
Jeep Girl Unlimited it’s addicting!
Love it! The wife and I are heading down there in two weeks with our dogs to make the loop in our Wrangler JK. Beyond ready!
It’s a fun drive, beautiful and relaxing. If you need the Gaia map for the trip I can send it to you. Hope y’all have fun!
@@JeepAroundTexas Thank you for that! I use AllTrails and have it pulled up, and ready to go though!
@@johnsukey9944 nice, are you or your wife in our JAT fb group? I was commenting back and forth the other day with a woman that said basically the same thing. Lol
@@JeepAroundTexas Lol, that was actually me on my wife's FB page. I deleted FB around 5 years ago. I use hers for the Jeep stuff. Small world!
@@johnsukey9944 that’s funny, I knew the stories sounded familiar! Y’all will definitely enjoy it, we love the area.
Nice looking rigs!! Looks like a fun loop. Love the water crossings and clouds. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! Very pretty drive for sure! Thank you for watching.
I can't wait for October!
I'm so glad you're coming!
Reminds me of Rock Solid Rig's vid AND Life on Back Forty's Jeep vid. The filming technic of Jeeps at James river's river crossing and driving on the river's frontage river bank.
Back Forty was with us on this trip.
@@JeepAroundTexas did y'all watch Rock Solid Rig's vid? Y'all filmed and did very identical things there. They went in May, I went in May as well, back then Sandy Creek wasn't dry, James River, and Llano River level was bit higher.
71502 yes, we are friends with them also. We just kinda hit the highlights of the trip.
@@JeepAroundTexas really? So you know them (Rock Solid Rig) in person too? Y'all Jeeps UA-camrs.
71502 yes. We were friends on Facebook and then wheeled with them in person a few weekends ago. And yes we pretty much UA-cam all of our Jeep adventures.
Planning my trip right now for the first week in June! Just bought my first Jeep and gotta put it to use! Thinking of staying in Fredericksburg for a night maybe two since we live in the SW Houston area 👌🏼
It’s a great drive, there are three off road parks in that area also. Two in Mason and one in Marble Falls. I definitely recommend the one in Marble Falls (Hidden Falls adventure park) it’s great for beginners.
Is this channel from the Facebook group?
Yes sir, my wife and I just lost our wheeling trips and Jeep activities on here. We founded the Jeep group a couple years ago.
@@JeepAroundTexas oh nice. I just recently joined the group thanks to my buddy Jared, and found this video. I've got mine just before the snow storm and had to use 4x4 on a few occasions just to get around town. I haven't been wheeling yet, but I pop of the doors and roof every chance I get.
If you don’t mind me asking, where is this located exactly?
We started in Marble falls and ended in Luckenbock. It goes through Mason also. Here is the Gaia map if you’re interested.

@@JeepAroundTexas thank you very much, just got a xj and looking for awesome places to go trail ride.
@@johnhebert8147 while you’re down there check out Hidden Falls adventure park. You can cruise around all day and learn your rig.
So much fun! Glad we were able to join y’all!
Awesome to see the difference between us doing it and you guys making the run. We also did it the opposite direction of you guys. Y'all have anything planned in September? We're thinking of hitting Barnwell.
Rock Solid Rig nothing planned yet for September. My brother is getting married October 10th so we will be having some stuff going on but keep us posted. We really enjoyed the drive. We have done the Mason portion before when we camped there but it was nice seeing more of the back country.
Did you guys do the trail in 1 day? I’m a semi off-road newbie and wondering if it would be doable in one day (I live in Austin) or make a weekend of it and camp at Dos Rios or Oxford Ranch.
Yes, we did it in one day. It’s a long a drive but not bad at all. When we pre-ran it we drove the three hours there did the whole route and drove the three hours home. Long day! Definitely doable in one day.
