Thank you for this video. I had figured out that my TMJD symptoms are very much linked to how my neck is feeling and how long I've been sitting at my laptop. Lifting heavy items like furniture didn't help much either when I moved house.
I think I might have a problem with my right nostril due to breathing and an dramatic increase in sinus issues since a fall (to the face) 2 years ago. I guess I’m mouth breathing at night due to symptoms I wake up with and Im slouching w head forward a lot when I use to be complimented on my posture. Unfortunately doctors in my area either have no appointments available or not under my hmo. It’s like from sinuses to jaw to neck/traps I’m in so much discomfort+pain 😩😩 Your videos have helped me get some relief and a lot of information! ❤️
I am doing PT and it is slowly helping. I need to work my serratus anterior to work my upper traps, to work my neck to eventually work my TMJ and maybe vice versa. I've had this problem for 1 year.
I find all your videos helpful for our TMJ issues because of the way you recapitulate your explanatories to make us understand, anyway I have a query concerning my TMJ problems. I have wisdom teeth pain and TMJD, what have I to do ? 2 weeks ago, I have been using antidepressant drugs but still there is no improvement
Hi Doc, Thanks for the info. Been having problems since August of 2021. Physical therapy starts next week. Already been fitted with the mouth guard which has helped but I want to clench down on it. Popping and clicking has decreased unfortunately the crunching sounds remains and occasionally now feeling of rubbing bone when bite down to chew . Fingers crossed PT helps and continuing to watch your videos thanks so much
hallo Doc, thanks for your videos, you are the best on UA-cam who talks about TMJ, I have one question, do you think there is a relation between Covid and TMJ ?
Hi Doc. I have two questions. I sometimes get out of nowhere these flare-ups where I can feel pain in my ear joint and get muscle spasm around my eye. It lasts no more than 2 seconds. Also, I can feel pressure around this joint or when I yawn. I have been dealing with these symptoms for over a year and I always thought its just my anxiety. But then I saw this video and that Forward Head Posture is totally me. question 1: Could these symptoms indicate TMJ/TMJD or rather anxiety. question 2: I also noticed with my symptoms that when I'm turning my head to the side it sometimes causes a flare-up of these symptoms so can head movement cause TMJ/TMJD flare up or something else that can cause that? btw love ur vids and greetings from Czechia ❤
I am breathing through my nose and I am already taking physical therapy, is there any back belt or anything else that will help my posture? Thank you! I love your videos!
Can poor posture cause excessive muscle contractions in the mouth, head, and neck? I have been suffering from excessive muscle tension for 17 years. Breathing also became unstable. In this case, do I need treatment to correct posture as well as find the stable position of the dental occlusion? sorry. I'm Korean, so I used a translator.
Yes, poor posture can cause all of this! I would recommend working with a physical therapist to correct your posture as well as a skilled and experienced tmj dentist.
Could a forward head posture be caused by a malocclusion ? I am watching you from France. I really like your videos, it's amazing. Thank you for your work. Here, it's almost impossible to find a dentist able to treat tmj.
Hi Priya, new subscriber here. Not sure if you have covered any of this in previous videos, but I have been dealing with on and off tingling in the face, more so on the left side from the jaw up to the eye brow and some in the cheek, right side more or less is fine. My jaw cracks when I rub near the joint and sometimes have pain when chewing, but this happens more on the right side. I've been to multiple doctors with no luck on why this is. Is this a tmd thing? I just shoveled part of my driveway and afterwards my left side of my face was nearly numb, thinking I was going to have a stroke. If this is tmd can you please send me in the right direction of one of your videos which may help alleviate these symptoms? There isn't a whole lot of pain, just anxiety and panic and it's really becoming a detriment to my mental well being. Thank you!
I would also like to mention I am a mouth breather (have had a blockage in one nostril since I was a child and have trouble breathing through nose) and I do have a forward head posture, along with more postural issues as well I'm sure.
I’m sorry to hear you’re going through this. This could be related to TMJD. We treat this successfully with orthotic therapy. Unfortunately there are no exercises or muscle releases that I’m aware of to easily alleviate your symptoms.
Thanks so much for a response, it is really appreciated. I will look into orthotics and see if I can find treatment near me. It's been off and on for nearly two years now and it's such a hard thing to live with. Appreciate all the great videos (I've been watching all that may help understand my situation) and I hope you have a great day!
Thank you very much, very informative! I have a question, if you'll excuse me. If a person is engaged in some kind of physical activity, for example jogging, we have always been recommended to inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth. How do you think this is correct?
Dear doctor, im in a fix. I have a forward head posture and TMJ disc displacement issue. But as i do the chin tucks to improve my posture, I get terrible TMJ Pain and when i do not do the tucks, im fine but my forward head posture tends to progress. How can i get out of this vicious cycle? Please help
I'm sorry but I really can't help you without further questions and discussion. if you'd like, you can email my office to set up a zoom meeting with me. patientcare@tmjdentaldoc.com
Hi Dr. I have right DDwoR but not left side. Frm then I started sleeping on back and sometimes on left side but not on right n stomach side. Can I sleep on left side Dr?
yes, it likely will but I would definitely recommend seeing an ENT to see if you have a nasal obstruction that's preventing you from breathing through your nose.

Hi there! Thank you for your kind words. Yes these symptoms could indicate tmjd. Head position and posture can affect symptoms.
Forward head posture will also put pressure on cervical discs and over time cause herniation.
Yes

Thanks Doc for sharing this video. So if I correct my head posture I could relief my TMJD ?
If that’s one of the main causes then yes
