I don't wear glasses (yet) & just now thinking about some vision helpers for the shop for tedious tasks. I haven't been to an optometrist since childhood. This is a big help in getting the journey started, thanks.

If I was anywhere near MN, I would switch to this eye doctor immediately! Great explanation, I've been searching all over for an explanation, and this totally explained it for me in a few minutes. Thank you!

Great explanation. Got cataract surgery done on right eye with long distance lense. Getting left eye done later this week. Checked out some otc glasses but I might check into the gradual ones that was discussed at the end.

    Plus lenses are great.
    20/20, on Snellen.
A +3 Diopter lens, 12 inches. If an emmetrope, vision blurry at 20 inches. If a hyperope, could read at 20 inches.
If you are personally confirming 20/20, on your Home Snellen, why would you ever get a bifocal?
    This is an excellent review.
    Thank you!

Great explanation! I am wondering, however, if there is any significant difference in the optical quality of the various brands of ‘cheaters.'

    • @stevenreinders898
      @stevenreinders898 6 років тому +3

Hi Vegasgeorge, Yes and it usually has to do with price similar to prescription glasses. Better optics cost more money. You will probably get a better frame with a more expensive reader also. However, the 3 pack of cheaters for $7 from walmart will not hurt you but will not be very durable or give you as comfortable vision form other readers which will cost a little more. As there are so many brands of readers, I don't have any personal preference. To get the best quality vision which will work more visually demanding tasks, I would suggests one nice, prescription pair of readers that would balance your eyes perfectly, have the optical centers of the lenses line up with your pupils, have much better optical materials and coatings on the lenses to give quality vision for extended reading and computer work. Then, have your cheaters laying all over for short term, less visually demanding task. Hope that helps. Steve Reinders, OD. Please call our office with any questions. 952-562-8116 Happy Thanksgiving

Wow, thanks for the information. I was getting a little worried my doc may have gotten the wrong prescription, mostly out of a lack of knowledge about the field, and have most of my anxiety satiated by the fact that the order of magnitude must be real small if the prescription is off, and cannot really hurt my eyes.

I think the ADD +2.00 on my prescription for reading is too strong
(from ADD +1. 50) seems I've lost some midrange vision in my progressive glasses. I think I will get a seperate pair for reading at night. Thinking +1.75 is plenty for my RX

I’m only 55 and need +2.75 in left eye and +3.25 in the right eye. Yet some people my age stare at fine print or a computer screen with no problem with no glasses. So unfair!

They're real for me! I have near sighted vision of 950/20. I wear contacts to see far. But my glasses/contacts, only allow me to see distance. I struggle to read daily, without my eyewear. I can see AMAZINGLY with my contacts on, up close.

    • @Bogglydoo

  • @birhandensisa1496

Doctor, I have a question. I am 30 years old. I have nearsightedness problem. My right eye is -2.50 and my left eye is -3.00. I accidentally changed to a job related to computers. 1, I need computer glasses, can computer glasses correct my vision on the computer? If yes, how does the answer help me? Will it completely fix my view on the computer? What kind of computer glasses should I use? For more information, I am using the sight glasses even though I don't use them all the time, but the sight glasses are not helping me on the computer, that's why I wanted the computer glasses. I hope that your advice and recommendations will help me and fix my computer vision once and for all. Thank you

I've had progressive lenses for about 2 years but find them difficult to use because I have nystagmus so it is very difficult for my people to stay aligned at the exact point to be able to focus clearly it seems the further down I go hololens there is much increased movement with my eyes. I've had nystagmus since birth. So the only thing my eye doctor recommended was two individual pairs one for distant one for reading prescription lenses. However I noticed that my prescription under the section where it says ADD it has the member 2.50 no plus no minus just that number. Would it be okay to cheat and just match up that number with a + 250 over-the-counter pair of glasses? I also do have a cataract that is developing my eye doctor does not want to remove it at the current time due to the risks and the fact that I could only see out of one eye the other eye is totally blind.

Great video. This man had to be a professor at one point. I found myself shaking my head “yes” to him a few times. That explains why the weaker ones allowed me to see a bit further and my blind bat friends reading glasses I could barely see my hand when extended.

Hello, I haven't found any info on what cheaters are, just a brand of reading glasses. So, are "Cheaters" a brand of reading glasses, or are they a type like "bifocals"? Thanks.
