Thank you for this awesome video! I went to Joann’s today and purchased fabric. Came home and made the skirt. It’s so cute and easy to make due to your easy to follow steps. 😊
I always try to find another sewing instructions on the website or youtube, but I always come back here. You are really amazing! Easy, step by step and beautiful smile!
I found what works for me when sewing slipping fabrics are to hand sew a basic stitch first and use a walking foot in my machine. I love the skirt! I made several projects of your videos and all came up great! I'm gonna make this skirt for my daughert
Happy new year, I love your videos and you are an excellent teacher. I have done quite a few of your projects for my grandkids which has given me confidence in my new hobby. I hope you have more time to do more video's this year as I look forward to trying new projects. Again thank you
That's really cute, but I would highly suggest finishing the edges of the satin with a serger or zig-zag stitch, or use French seams. Satin typically frays a lot, even if the seams are enclosed in the lining (since the lining has room or the seams to snag and fray). Top stitching along the hem and side seams would also work (although top stitching sequins is a PITA). I've had a skirt come apart after a couple of washes when I neglected to do so.
I’ve been on the fence about watching this vid let alone attempting it! I assumed (correctly) that as soon as I watched I would feel the need to make a couple for my girls. I got almost to the end without giving in and then the dancing and twirling got me. Too much cuteness!!! Now I HAVE to make some! LOL
Awww that makes me so happy! Yay! You guys make me want to make more videos, so thank you for sharing that :) Have fun with your sewing adventures! - Dana
Hi from Australia...just stumbled across your videos..love this and you explain everything so well, especially for a novice like me. I have made this skirt for my 12 year old and she loves it. I used a rainbow sequin and made a matching vest. I’ve subscribed to your channel..keep creating you are fab. Thanks jowo
I was looking through your playlists and I found a video that I didn't watch about the freezer paper painting on shirts! But it was an unlisted video and if it was on your uploads I would have watched it a million times already, since it was uploaded a while back!! :)
Oh whoops. I'm actually making that video "public" this week. I sometimes have to upload a video earlier for my sponsored clients so they can see the content. :)
Can you make a video about Shirring like you would on a toddler dress?? Ive been trying to learn how to do it but I have a singer sewing machine with a top loader bobbin, and I still can’t figure out how to do it. :) I love how easy to follow your videos are! Thank you in advance Dana!
Love your tutorials. I am also enjoying your book on Fabrics. Very useful. Did you use special threads for these skirt or the same threads as the ones we use with cotton fabric projects?
I just used a standard sewing needle, prob size 70. If you want to attached a sash at the waist, you can find that tutorial here: www.madeeveryday.com/2014/09/tutorial-skirt-with-a-sash.html/
Lovely skirt, one I'll definitely try. Question...Is this the same method for making a bubble skirt ? and if not, would you do a tutorial on making a bubble skirt ?
I watched your great, easy to follow, video and made a purple sequin skirt for my 6 year old niece. I am a beginner at sewing, but the skirt came out beautiful and my niece loved it!! Can you do a pattern for a girl's easy to make dress? Thank you. Your videos are great; you are very talented.

I'm unsure if you have done this before but could you possibly do a tutorial on how to make a peplum shirt and or dress for little girl? I love your videos btw, they're so easy to follow. Because of you I have created a few skirts for my daughter, shes 6.
Your videos are just so excellent! I live in the UK and always watch your videos. I have made so many designs from your videos and want to thank you for sharing as I know it is not just making the video, it is all the other time consuming tasks that goes into them. They are so easy to follow and you make them so much fun. At the beginning of your video, you you show a hot pink skirt with a sash and lace overlining. How do you attach the sash? Is this done when the skirt is finished and the sash goes on last. It is so pretty. I would love to make this this for my 11 year old daughter when we are in Florida for the summer!
Thanks Marcia! Yes, you can make the skirt with a sash by following this detailed tutorial on my site: www.madeeveryday.com/2014/09/tutorial-skirt-with-a-sash.html/
Wow, thank you! My daughter loves the idea, so I have to go and buy some more fabric :) And, btw, my daughter just said that your daughter was cute :) Greetings from Banja Luka :)

Thanks! I used standard thread and a standard sewing needle. If you want to make the lace skirt with the attached sash, you can find that tutorial here: www.madeeveryday.com/2014/09/tutorial-skirt-with-a-sash.html/
If you want to make the lace skirt with the attached bow/sash, you can find that tutorial here: www.madeeveryday.com/2014/09/tutorial-skirt-with-a-sash.html/
Can you please tell me the model number and company name of your sewing machine I love it and really need to buy it Your way of explanation is just great I never liked sewing but after watching your videos I am looking forward to it thank you so very much
You can make an attached tie or sash for your skirt with this tutorial on my site (the tutorial is for the exact pink lace skirt you see in the video): www.madeeveryday.com/2014/09/tutorial-skirt-with-a-sash.html/
Sure! You would sew it a little bit differently, but the concept is the same. AND the nice thing about a circle skirt, is that it takes care of the hem for you :) I love that.
hi , I just wondering if this project would be ok to work with just overlocker and topstitch coverstitch machine? my sewing machin is in the service at the moment and I really want to make this project for my girl's school disco night. Thanks
Hi, I really like your video. Can you please share brand name n model of your sewing machine. I want to buy one for me so preferred asking you. If you help👍 thanks
Thanks. You an read all about my sewing machine on my site (the machine is called Lyric, by Baby Lock) www.madeeveryday.com/2014/11/my-new-sewing-machine-and-how-to-pick-your-own.html/ And you can watch a video about it all here: ua-cam.com/video/MRE4TABLswU/v-deo.html

Thank you for this Dana. Granddaughter will love this. You are a delight to watch - your exuberance and joy of creating is contagious.
Thanks Mary! I appreciate the kind words :) Have fun sewing! Your granddaughter is lucky! Dana
I always try to find another sewing instructions on the website or youtube, but I always come back here. You are really amazing! Easy, step by step and beautiful smile!
haha aww thanks! :) Dana
I love that your video used a fabric that is difficult to work with and how you dealt with the problems. Great tutorial.
Love the skirt! So glad that you showed the mistakes/ difficulties with the materials. Gives us novices hope!😍
I made a midi skirt this weekend out of matte pink flip sequins using your tutorial, and I love it! Thanks so much!
Yes! I am always so excited when you come out with another video, I cant wait to try and make this!
I just made a skirt for my granddaughter following your other video

Awesome! Thank you Tanya :) - Dana
Love it! Beautiful! Your daughter is so adorable.
Love it. So glad to see your uploading more videos. Love to see more items for my 6 year old girl and 3 year old boy. Also for baby shower presents x
I love watching your videos
It's so much fun
Thank you Dana!
Cute skirt! I can't wait till your hold it bin video. I think it's a very nifty bin!! Thank you!
Thanks! Yes, we're currently editing the Hold it Bin one! :)
If you follow the instructions in the video there are no exposed seams, so everything is enclosed and will avoid fraying.
I’ve been on the fence about watching this vid let alone attempting it! I assumed (correctly) that as soon as I watched I would feel the need to make a couple for my girls. My almost 3 year old daughter would love this. Her only wishes for Christmas were lip balm and a dress that sparkled.
haha. Love that.

What a cutie!!

Which baby lick machine is the most basic and easy to use for newbies?
How did you do not be tie on the lace skirt?? Loved it
You can make an attached tie or sash for your skirt with this tutorial on my site (the tutorial is for the exact pink lace skirt you see in the video): www.madeeveryday.com/2014/09/tutorial-skirt-with-a-sash.html/
Thanks for the toturial
KAI micro serrated scissors will not let slippery fabric slide when cutting. I love them and only use them. About 16.99 a pair on amazon.
Can you make a circle skirt with a waistband?
I like your videos
I would like to know, would this technique work for a circle skirt? My granddaughter loves the circle skirts.
Sure! You would sew it a little bit differently, but the concept is the same. AND the nice thing about a circle skirt, is that it takes care of the hem for you :) I love that.
@@MADEEveryday Thank you and thank you for replying so quickly. I am just a mediocre seamstress but I am trying!! LOL Thanks again.
15:20 use the extra satiny/silky fabric to make an adorable bow to put on the side, just under the waistband, at an angle.
You should do a shop with me video!
Love yr videos 😁👍🏼🌹
Would a walking foot help with the slipping?
hi , I just wondering if this project would be ok to work with just overlocker and topstitch coverstitch machine? my sewing machin is in the service at the moment and I really want to make this project for my girl's school disco night. Thanks
I haven't done this on a serger, but I would think so....as long as your overlock machine can cut through the edges of the sequined fabric.
Yaaaaaasssss I love it SO CUTE
For a shirt to go with it, how about black lacy, like what you are wearing in this video?
Heavy needles are best to use and you can remove some of the sequin from the edges to make it easier to sew
Awesome Val🇨🇦
12:40 I always do that first before even threading my elastic through
Beautiiiiiiful😘
How did you make that top you are wearing???
Thank you!
omg yaayyyyy 3rd comment
i love u so much u are so talented and amazing
WHAT SIZE NEEDLE DID YOU USE FOR THE SEQUIN SKIRT, NICE HAS PARTY TO ATTEND THIS WOULD BE ADORABLE ON HER AN HER CUSIN 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Just use a standard sewing needle.
Can you make a video teaching how to make rompers for girls please!
Can you do a tutorial on how to sew in a straight line?
Can you do a tutorial on the first skirt you showed us with the lace and the waistband please.
Sure! I have a full tutorial for the skirt with a sash here: www.madeeveryday.com/2014/09/tutorial-skirt-with-a-sash.html/
