- Jay returns to California for the weekend and drives to Golds Venice for a back training session. Golds has been making some heavy renovation and we give you a glimpse of the work that has been done. We run into some familiar faces. It is always good to go back to the Original Mecca of bodybuilding. Next stop - The Masters Olympia in Romania.

its so cool that Jay takes time out of his workout to interact with seemingly every fan that wanted to chat and take a pic. legend
He would do the same thing 10 years ago when I first moved to Vegas. Would see him all the time at the LVAC on rainbow and lake mead. Always stopped to talk and take photos.

impressed how long Jay takes time to talk to those 3 young fans at Golds, like legit, talking to for a few minutes, that's really cool, what a down to earth guy.
Jay is one of the most humbled men. Guy really takes time out of his day to make somebody else's. Class act and a great role model.
The vibe from this video was off the charts. From greeting fans, the laughter, talking about old times and all. Great stuff Jay and Dave, when you two laugh, it cracks me up. Fan for life!

Always magic to see the Mecca again !!! I was there in 1997 right before the Long Beach Mr olympia !!! So many memories !!! The place has changed but the vibes are still there
1985, I was 27, lifting in Gold's gym in Venice Beach, I noticed many stopping first at the Rose Cafe for Expresso, so at 27 I had my first caffeine buzz, never had a bad workout since.
A true inspiration Jay. I'm gonna be 50 next month. I think about these videos when I go to the gym and they motivate me to keep going.

I have visited the Firehouse for the first time in 1988, great place! Visited again in 1995, and in 1999 together with my wife! Great times! Happy birthday Jay, actually today is my own birthday, 67 years of age, and still going strong!

The Golds Gym today is so low key compared to the original when the intense Ken Waller was around.
Outside equipment so different from the gym area on the beach in the 70’s. Some pull-up and dip bars and Olympic sets to what is available now- incredible.
What about Serge Nubert? For his era.

You can tell Jay is really down to earth, super cool that he takes time to ask people questions about themselves. It seems like there are a lot of people out there nowadays in general that don’t do that at all, let alone someone of his stature. Kudos to you man. I’ve lifted at the Mecca and it’s an incredible place. The Weekend that we lifted there we saw Dexter Jackson multiple times when he was preparing for the Arnold classic. Brings back a ton of memories! Crazy how they have the whole outside area in the front now. I need to make my way back there one of these days!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope it was great. Always look forward to seeing new videos. i was so happy when I got to travel to Gold's and train there for two weeks. Charles Glass , Will Harris, Joel Stubbs, Silvio Samuel were all so friendly. They all took time to chat, it was awesome. Maybe I'll do a fit for 50 and be there on my big birthday next September. Hey Jay! I’m no body builder by any means, but I do have to say that I absolutely love lifting and keeping my body in shape. Back when I attended high school I weighed 145lbs. No more, and no less, and I was one of the strongest kids in my class for my age and weight. I benched 300lbs for my first real max! I still remain proud of that accomplishment. Since then, I’ve reached the age of 35, I have 4 kids with my absolute amazing wife and I still try to lift as much as I can between the Kroc center in Coeur d Alene Idaho as well as my own home which includes my wifes bow flex adjustable dumbbells. Moral of the story is, you have been a great inspiration and motivator for me to keep pushing to better not just my body, but who I am in general as a person. Thank you for continuing to do what you do and even know we have never met, I want you to know that you have my word that I will continue to follow you and support you in this life. I hope that one day I will have the honor and privilege to at least introduce myself in person and express my gratitude to you. Keep on keeping on jay🤙🏼🤘🏻
