I have three different packages, but I just started. $150 for run-n-gun, one location shoots, $350 for 1-2 locations & $500 for 3-4 locations with SFX & transitions. 6 day turnaround on the edits & 5 revisions.
You will change thst real quick. Once you start color grading and doing more higher quality video. Hours of shooting and days of editing. You’re definitely under selling yourself
I live in Costa Rica and my base price by now is $1200 for a very simple music video. I charge from 3500 USD to 5000 USD and even it could be more if its something bigger. Nice video!
My base price as of now is $850 - $1000 but im "looking out" for an artist in my area and shooting it for $300 this weekend, BUT I look at it as a win/win. Yeah im taking a hit on the money, but i can add this project to my reel, and im gonna do spin off BTS video based on shooting super low budget music videos.
The thing is while you up your price, sometimes yes you’ll lose some clients but you make up for lost clients with the extra income. Like charging $1,000 I can work less than when I charged $500 but 2x less. If I worked the same as when I charged $500 I would make 2x the amount. So I make more with less work.
Lol one time I waited almost 2 hours for another artist that was featured on the main artist song who paid me to shoot his video pshh my price went up after dealing with that nonsense
@@Minhute I'd like to watch the last video you showed with the guy with the braids sitting in the dark back lit kitchen. whats his name and name of video? did you use Komodo?
Thx for sharing man, my story is somewhat similar. How do you about collecting? Is it half up front and the remaining when you finish filming/edit? What about contracts? Thanks again.
I usually do 30% deposit! Contract etc depends on the total amount and if I feel like I really need to have one haha. The remainder of payment has to be given before delivery of final.
Hey David, what if you do a music video on consignment? Like you don't free to get payed a percentage of what the video would make in the future, is this a thing ? Or am I speaking to the air
@@Minhute right understood, I asked because in today's world everybody is an artist and there's so many who are on a low budget, I've been editing videos and pics for a long time now just never actually did my own stunts (camera man) and now I got into videography to widen up my income 👍
I price my videos from $350-$1500+ with an A La Carte menu for add on. These packages are spread across 4 packages to choose from. All are subject to change depending on the wants and needs of the artist.
Honestly, I ask whats most you'll put in your budget. Then I see if we can from there. Because you never know how much money someone is willing to put in.

Nice packages!! My 1000 is up to 2 locations, and I do a $500 for a one location up to 4 hours : )
This is a good starting point for me.

Definitely! And its all about whether or not you want to do it haha, sometimes theres artists who expect that but are just so disrespectful lol.
My starting price is $300 for a basic video and it goes up from there depending on what they want .
How did you start getting yourself out there to do your first music videos? Where did most your clients come from?
My first couple were with friends tbh! And from there my Instagram got discovered and went off from there
Similar route I’ve taken as well. Keep grindin’ 👊
Thank you! You too
THANK YOU DAVID!!
YA!!
Awesome info 💯
Thank you!
Super helpful. Thanks for sharing.
Of course!
Thanks for sharing 👍 😊
How much would you charge for someone to shadow you for a couple days and learn
Personally I don’t think I really got the time to do any shadowing stuff, I get asked all the time
This is a great video very helpful!!!
Thank ya!! Glad you enjoyed itt
Am in Africa /Cameroon how do I charge my youths complain of les budget income tot their personal hustles
But when you upped the price to 750, did the amount of inquiries decrease? I’m nervous about not getting enough cliental if I up it to that much
I answered this right? For some reason its not showing I responded LOL

@@Minhute great insight. Thank you for the reply🙏🏽
how do you price a new artistes that reachout to you
I usually have my minimum pricing and packages! I just hand that to them and if they cant do thst we see what we can negotiate on
how much would you charge for regular street music videos 1 - 2 locations?
I would probably just charge my minimum because those are minimal effort tbh haha. Depends on the locations and how far away they are
How much gear did you have when you started?
I ran with a GH4 and an 18-35 sigma haha
Lol one time I waited almost 2 hours for another artist that was featured on the main artist song who paid me to shoot his video pshh my price went up after dealing with that nonsense
Happens ALL the time haha, waiting 4 hours for them to show up then 2 more to start shooting
No back log. I'm shooting for that lol.
Its a dream haha

Young Moe - Soul Bleed, I shot it on the 1DX III

do you require a deposit? does the artist cover the studio bookings if a studio is required?
The artist has to cover all the misc fees yeah, and I do sometimes! Depends on artist history etc.
Where would you find these clients ? Is there somewhere specific where you’d post ads or something?
Personally I'm at a point where they find me, but starting off I would cold DM people asking if they needed videos
The fuck, i did my last video for 85 bucks. Maybe I could get more money than I thought
85 is way too lowww haha
Hey David, what if you do a music video on consignment? Like you don't free to get payed a percentage of what the video would make in the future, is this a thing ? Or am I speaking to the air
It depends! You can definitely make those terms but it also depends on the client. Most of the time people don't end up doing this though.

Welcome to filmmaking!
When they book you for the music video, do you have to make the arrangements with the location and extras? Or does the artist take care of that?
Just subbed by the way, thanks for sharing the knowledge 🤙
It really depends! Sometimes they have things prepared sometimes they ask me to, each clients different. And thanks so much for the support!!
@@Minhute the budget would increase accordingly right? Cause location and extras can add up quick :0
Of course! They pay for those regardless if they decide or I do, it comes out of their budget not my fee.
whats the tracks name for the kevin gates vid. looks fire

Hi there, great video. What would you recommend as the best lens to shoot music videos?
Really depends on what you like! The Sigma 18-35 is a great lens that covers a pretty wide range of lens sets that I used for a really long time
@Minhute I'm using a Fujifilm X-T3..would this lens be compatible with my camera.
Also thanks for replying you really helping me out 🙏
Youd have to check! They might have fuji nount or you can get an adapterr
Do you require deposits?
I do!
I swear I going Thru the same an price my craft the same method u did.
Great minds think alikeeee haha

That's a very nice range! Kind of generous at the bottom haha
Honestly, I ask whats most you'll put in your budget. Then I see if we can from there. Because you never know how much money someone is willing to put in.
That definitely works too!
What Cameras You Use For Music Videos?
it varies! I use the Canon 1DX3 or the RED Komodo/Red Gemini. Depends on the video and budget!
Where are all the video producers at comment so I can see what you got I NEED 2 professional music videos
$60k a year is only $45k take home if you don’t have your taxes right. Do your business right folks, and you’ll take home closer to $55k.
