    If you would like a cheap good version of this you can't beat the stabilo m80 works a treat and won't dint your pencils. My plastic m80 cost around 30 auDont forget to run graphite pencils through after your coloured pencils to maintain your blades on the crank shaft

      Great Tip! To Maintain the blade. Thank you and great alternative for most pencils, but I have used the Stabilo M80 on pastel pastels and it doesn’t like the Hexagonal shape of the Caran dache pencils and tends to break easily.

    I watched this video and it convinced me into buying one (the red edition). I bought it in a shop in Switzerland for 97£. I am in love with this machine. What convinced me to buy one is, that you can replace the cutter-unit once it gets dull - so it's really a sharpener for a lifetime. And I love I can sharpen pencils sharp and coloring pencils blunt. I have the option to change it continuously adjustable. No other sharpener has this option. You would have to buy many different one to get the same results.

      Wonderful! Glad you got your hands on one. They are a joy to use. And as we both said will last a lifetime.

    To me, that is the perfect pencil sharpener. The down side, is obtaining one. The pluss is that it is Swiss! Very precision engineered. Hope you will get lots of use from it. I like that its got variable point feature. Thanks for showing it! Wish i had one! Enjoy!

    Mitsubishi sharpener is wonderful. I don’t use pastel pencils, but it’s fantastic for colored pencils and makes the points both sharp AND long. Since I like to use the side of the pencil, I really love the longer point.

    Thank you for the video. Please tell me what kind of glass bottle you have as a sharpener, size, shape, brand??? Is it a reagent bottle or something else? 300ml ? I know I’m a pain, ;)

    I bought a small set of Caran D’Ache Neocolors on sale and also some Swisscolors, which are marketed as children’s’ supplies, but which some UA-camrs have said are the same product, with a different target audience. The big difference between the artist-quality and supposedly kiddie-quality was that the kiddie crayons had square ends, So, how to sharpen them?
    None of my rather large collection of mostly-useless pencil sharpeners (including the special ones for pastel pencils, which do work for that purpose) would work on the Neocolors. However, by determined browsing on Amazon I found a highly-recommended beauty crayon sharpener. My experience with this kind of sharpener (for sharpening lip and eye pencils) has generally not been great, but I didn’t like the art supply options for the Neocolors, either. Happy ending: the beauty pencil sharpener works perfectly on the Neocolors: sharpens even the blunt-ended kiddie crayons to a nice point without damage, unnecessary waste or any great effort or skill. Cost: £2-something, shipping included.
    Moral of the story: you don’t have to spend a two-figure sum to sharpen these crayons.

      I haven’t and wouldn’t sharpen any of the Neocolour (oil, wax, or water soluble) with this as they are too soft. Am rather confused about you comparing Neocolour (crayon like) to swisscolours (pencils) in my experience two very different products. Glad you found something that works for you. I still use and enjoy using my sharpener for pastel pencils.

    Thanks for the video. Is the only difference with the normal red version the green color? Or is this edition bigger or heavier?

    • @studio.spirit
      @studio.spirit  4 місяці тому

      I can’t say for sure as I don’t own the red one, but from what I can tell they are the same, they just released the green one as part of a Christmas collection a few years ago.

    I have a question how is it holding up with pastels...someone commented it began to sharpen less and less with waxy/oily

    • @studio.spirit
      @studio.spirit  Рік тому +2

      Hi thanks for watching, it holds up fine, done so many pastel pencils, I would imagine if it does to that, you could clean it as it all comes apart.

      although soft pastel pencils are known to dull pencil blades very fast and it's recommended to just cut it with a knife, no matter what brand sharpener blade. for that reason I avoided to use pencil sharpeners on them.

    What happens if you just pull the golden screw in the back, not all the way in and not all the way out? Can you technically get a third angle then?

      Not a different angle per se just not as pointy. Thanks for watching!
