Seems like a bug turned into a feature, which you love to see in a puzzle game. It looks like the code is: Steps -= 1 If steps = 0: die (obviously with other logic in between or after) Having the comparator being less than or equal to would have been the fix to this, but utilising it as a feature is much nicer.
It's incredibly funny to see that Tyler is obviously very smart, being able to tackle these kinds of games... But then he gets some exposition about dogs being the cats' enemies and it doesn't click for him that the characters that want to destroy the cats' flags are dogs.
Its like if you watch someone else play horror game didn't scare you when jumpscare But if you play it yourself you get scared just by a random ambient noise :v
18:05 Reminds me of the adventure game Tunic. Lots of times it expands the world simply by explaining something that you technically always had access to.
This video is great. I really think the game did the best it could with its simplistic/limited aesthetics. That small room where you're being flushed down really shows it. It's pixelated, I love it so much. It keeps being smart while delivering a story that is more than just 'there', it's pretty funny too. I really don't think bad aesthetics is really a downside anymore. Also the editing is still perfect, as it always has.
That click in the head once Tyler knows that a portal is created if he passes through two adjacent barriers is so wild Cannot wait to see more of this game because the amount of content inside and the puzzle innovation is so big and so excellent
This game officially reminds me of other insane meta games like baba is you. I live for this type of game and am now very much looking forward to 2 days from now when I can actually understand the wormhole stuff. Keep up the amazing content!!!
10:00 In this level, I don't think the solution you found was intended, because the solution I saw online and the one I found myself used the rocks and blue flags. It could likely be fixed by simply shifting the 5-flag, kitten, and teleporter up by 1 square, since the solution I found had an extra move to spare at the end.
The fact that this game still teaches you new things about the mechanics it introduced at the start without it it seeming unfair (for the most part) is absolutely wild.
Seeing Tyler understand a new mechanic is as satisfying as unlocking a new traversal ability in a metroidvania game. Impressive how such a simple game can impede progress in so many unique ways with no other barriers besides a lack of knowledge
10:24 objects fighting over a square, that both try to be pn at the same time. Pretty sure same happens if in different directions, such as the rock above it and to the left of it entering at once.
The main thing I learned in this video: Tylers eat other Tylers to sustain themselves, thus we will never know if the Tyler in any video is the same Tyler as any other video. They're all Tyler!
Ah, yes, the very familiar talking on mute problem. Made worse when your mic also has a mute button... so there are three places it can happen: mic, OS, app. Or, you can go the really old fashioned route and have the cable unplugged by a pet, like a cat, to be thematic. ;p
As someone who already beat this before tyler started his playthrough, I am simply waiting for him to realize what the two-doors all over the map and seemingly unobtainable stars are actually about. Spoiler alert!!! It's the chain. It starts in the room where it was mentioned briefly.
What does it mean by "spaces with two barriers in between"? The only interpretation I can think of doesn't apply to either wormhole on the screen that says that, but Tyler seems to think it makes sense somehow.
Two cats...? I mean, that would explain a lot of the two-wide hallways... But what is the missing link? I don't really see it, this puzzle might be as tough as steel. Maybe we should be looking for the origin? Hmmmm... Could you spawn two Steves from a split flag or something? ( sorry, i couldn't help myself, at least i didn't spoil anything, i'll see myself out for the next vid )
For the one star you had to come back to: what direction do you face when you respawn in the level above without having touched a flag? (I have no idea if this will work, just a guess.)
@@big_numbersare you sure it's constrained to that area? I'd hope the dev keeps it consistent and make every wormhole be unlocked by 2 barriers around a tile.
holy crap the purple 0 flag is nuts, it's insane how this game is STILL innovating on its core mechanic
Honestly
Got to love negative moves
The fact that you can obtain the same thing from a blue one is something.

the editing on the lost audio is amazing, actually honestly the editing of your videos always absolutely knocks it out of the park
Wouldn't he spoken in past sense and didn't say he didn't recorded I would have probably not noticed it. (This sentence was complicated 😂)
I am loving these N-step Steve videos since these are cool puzzles but I lack the brain capacity to solve them myself lol

The transition between present Tyler and future Tyler and back is so smooth that I never know who to trust anymore
this is definitely one of the most entertaining to watch puzzle games in a while
This is one of my favourite series. Seeing Tyler surprised and stumped this often is amazing.
This game just gets more and more insane

I love this puzzle game, creative use of elements!
“Help me N-Step bro” is the greatest joke in the history of this series.
Bravo, editor!
I saw it but I didn't get the reference lol. What is the reference?

This game so much fun to watch, Im glad you arent close to finishing it, probably, idk
Not close at all, there’s around 30 cryptid puzzles and 5+ more stars that he hasn’t done yet
-1 made it such a unique thing and i couldnt wait until the video came out and here it is!
“Help me n-step-bro” is certified the best joke the editors have made, which is saying a lot
mirabussy

The negative steps are a weird sense of "anti-softlock"

This game is so clever, I'm shocked how they can still come up with new interesting interactions
The craziest part is all this works from the jump. But the game does a very good job hiding it and saving your ability to solve til “post game”
The negative moves mechanic is probably a good example of an ascended bug.

0:06 Dear god.
This game is officially as meta as that Worm game
Which one?
Can o wormholes?
Love your content, keep it up!
9:50 the intended way to complete this level is to slowly push the 5 pip flag over to the edge and make a run to the purple flag when close enough

Loved the "sextuple advantage" joke at 1:35, stupidly funny

This, bunny game, and baba. How could these cute puzzle games contain so much
Simplicity to complexity at its finest
This game mechanics are so simple but they are able to bring out soo much from it this is one of my favourite Tyler series
1:48, excellent dnd joke editor. You have my nerdy respect.
Pet named N step steve
I can't wait to read Tyler's review on this game, I'm so impressed with the depth and complexity of this game's reasonably small set of rules
This game just becomes crazier and crazier by the step!
18:07 so, how many wormholes are there then? And it seems they also need a lot of white space in front of them.
I k ow it was an accident but sometimes narrative Tyler is refreshing.
YES! more N step Steve please
Oh god tyler found a splitter and 2 flags. We have 2 at once!
yeah, I think that's one of the last interesting mechanics.
Looking forward to finding Steve in the background when ever there is an update.
15:29 is this the popular puzzle mobile game reference 🧐 iykyk.
Matpat gonna make a theory on this wild Steve lore
this game has gotten more episodes than chants of sennaar and i can't wait to see more
There is a decent chance that the negative moves was a bug that was turned into a feature when they found it
Man, this is the real crack game for Tyler
There's still a MASSIVE part of the game left. Keep it up!
More puzzles! What a nice Christmas present!
reliving this game is such a delight
these videos are always so exciting, absolute highlight of my morning!!!
Great video 🔝
The only complaint I've got is that I have to wait 2 days for the next episode 😂😂😂
I think this might be my favorite series on this channel since baba is you
ℂ-Step steve when

Every episode of this slaps!
Thumbnail “cat go brrr”. lol
It's the "oh fuck." for me.

This game has some absolutely absurd depth to it!
Finally more steve videos
This is such a fascinatingly strange game. Really enjoying the series!

Split flags only make a single cat, because after you respawn the flag is only one again
honestly loving these puzzles lol
How many hours have you played this game so far? There's puzzles and more puzzles. It's a matryoshka doll of puzzles!
For the one star you had to come back to: what direction do you face when you respawn in the level above without having touched a flag?

i love this game it has steve in it
Pretty sure the 2 spaces inbetween is a Jojos reference.
i love having negative moves
"R Step Steve"
I wonder if there are any levels where you can take two different exits at the same time. What would happen?
there was near the end of last episode
When you show the map, can you show us where you are so that we can follow?
I've watched every episode but have no clue how the map works xD
The map tile that the player is on is marked with Steve's Head. You should be able to see it
this is so great. i love this.
Everywhere i go...
I see Amogus
I wonder if we get decimals anytime soon
So excited for post game!
This game is amazing!

Hey I don't know if you'll see this but I think you might the game Jusant that realeased recently.
could someone explain the wormholes discovery that he made at the end to me please?
It’s only in that specific area that it works in so he didn’t actually discover anything. (2 barriers on a square spawns a wormhole)
@@big_numbersare you sure it's constrained to that area? I'd hope the dev keeps it consistent and make every wormhole be unlocked by 2 barriers around a tile.
