    Great video Brian. Where I have found that these "spray and seal" type products absolutely excel are on the hard to protect areas. Your vehicle grille for example. Very difficult to get into all the intricate areas of a grille and apply a wax, sealant, or coating. These type products excel in that area and are an absolute must for your arsenal if you truly want to protect every area of your vehicle. What about waxing your wheel arches? People would say, "nah, you can't do that". Well, yes you can with these and I do. These also excel at protecting plastics and provide a hydrophobic effect on plastics. They are superior for rims also. Most people don't want to take the time to wax their rims. I do coat my rims once a year or so, then use this type product after every wash for a "top up" for the coating. Works BRILLIANTLY in that application. Another often overlooked area is your undercarriage. You wouldn't want to spend a month trying to wax every part of your undercarriage after a good cleaning. Simply spray one of these type products on your entire undercarriage and you have now sealed and protected your undercarriage. Sealing an undercarriage may seem extreme to some but these products are in fact capable of doing it. The two BIG pluses to these type of products are: #1) Ease of application. It doesn't get any easier than spraying the surface liberally, rinse off with a strong stream of water or pressure rinse. DONE #2) SPEED. These products are the absolute fastest way to apply a sealant.......PERIOD. I do find that using a pressure washer yields the very best results but using a garden hose is perfectly acceptable also and provides good results as well. Just use the strongest spray pattern available on your hose. These spray and seal products are a game changer in the world of vehicle detailing and an absolute MUST HAVE product for any person serious about keeping their vehicle fully protected. These products allow you to protect areas you never dreamed possible before, basically allowing you to fully envelope your entire vehicle in a sealant if that is what you wish to do. These products are not going to give you months and months (or longer) of protection. They just aren't. BUT, they are so easy to apply and use, just apply them after every wash, or every other wash, or once a month...whatever....and you will have indefinite protection for your vehicle.

    I've been playing with a few of these spray and rinse sealants recently. If I level the product with a mitt before rinsing off, the water behaviour is much more even across the whole panel and it seems to improve longevity also.

    I just used this product on a new-to-me vehicle that definitely had no protection on it. Very pleased with the results! The effect was immediate while spraying, and it seems to have migrated well to coat the whole panel while rinsing as I feel it even behind the door handle pull for example. I didn't notice any spotting or blotchy effects and I didn't towel dry afterward so that's impressive; it's a white car but I'm sure I'd have noticed on the windows. It was applied in mid-high 30*F so pretty cold and it still worked well. I also found the spray nozzle fine, ensure to keep your arm moving while spraying to help distribute evenly, don't have your arm stationary while pumping, I think that helps. Good initial impression.

    Brian with all the new (or new to me) spray on sealers is there a reason to say use the more labor intensive like Sonax Net Shield vs this easily spray on rinse off product?

      Actually...the spray and wipe sealants like NS are a bit more durable. I see that when cars return for maintenance

  • @WaxMode
    @WaxMode 5 років тому

    Brian this is awesome, great testing! The marker idea is a gem, this can be used for a lot of different tests to determine an LSP's cleaning ability on the surface. For example, if I put the marker dot down and apply Zymol Titanium on top with a foam applicator, I'm not able to remove this spot even with some good pressure applied. This tells me that Titanium has no cleaning power, whereas if I wax over the same spot with Pinnacle Souveran, I'm able to remove the dot easily underneath of Titanium. And then testing Meguiar's Gold Class paste that they classify as a "polishing" wax, I'm able to remove the marker dot even faster. Put Turtle Wax Ice Spray Detailer on the dot, no effect, put Turtle Wax new Ice Black Polish spray and it's able to remove it as expected.
    So you can link this concept to the ongoing question of layering. It can answer the question of "What products should I really be worried about completely ruining the base layer of protection if I apply them on top?" Even Souveran which I would have classified as a pure wax easily has the cleaning ability to work through Titanium and the dot. If you go through all the trouble to polish the paint out and apply a durable sealant, with the intent of topping with a wax to try and get a combination of protection and gloss as many guys are doing, is the wax they're trying to top with truly going to be soft enough to maintain the sealant underneath without destroying it?
    Keep up the great work on the videos!

    I found a bit of a trick when applying this stuff but you need a pressure washer with a wide fan nozzle. You basically stand way back and mist the panel you just applied to then slowly get closer to the paint. Then once you see it fully dispersed in the milky white appearance take your nozzle close and blast it off. This just gives it a minute to evenly disperse across the panel before fully rinsing...

    Great test. I've just gotten my second bottle of this, I mainly use it on mates cars I don't see every month. It's good for them as they'll not clean their car till I see them again and it gives impressive beading. I used it on my own car, to top up the sio2 sealant on it. I'd say you'd get two months out of an application if you wash everyweek. The ease of application was what made me get another bottle. This spring I'll go down the route of sonax pns and maybe use this as a topper after a few months.

I had no issue, but I am not sure the paint really needs the Sonax sealant if I use this wax. It left chemical stains in my clearcoat when I used with plenty of water but I guess it was too hot out and when it rinsed down the sides of my truck from the roof it baked into my paint in streaks. I didnt realize this until the sun hit the truck a certain way and you could see all the stains. Took me awhile to finally get to the correct level in the clearcoat to remove stains.

      Detailers Domain posts a lot about this product on their Instagram stories. They use this like crazy and all they do it wash the car, spray it on, rinse, then force dry with a metro vac. Afterwards, they normally follow up with a gloss enhancing "quick detailer" (I'm assuming to remove any residue) so I'm sure if you did force dry, there would still sadly be some residue left. But for how well I've seen it work and how inexpensive the product is, what more could we ask for?

      Wetcoat is more durable...but repelling water is a draw.

    Can you use this or ceramic waxes on wheels? I'm asking because this would be getting on the brake discs. Thanks!

      You sure can...would not last very long. Those areas reach 1400 degrees.

      Maybe I am old fashioned but I have a hard time thinking these spray and rinse give a good coverage. I am like you Brian I would want to wipe it on with a pad. Another great demonstration Thank you .

    I know what you mean by “milky” water. Happens with wetcoat. Video unrelated question Brian, what dilution do you recommend for cleaning fabric seats with MultiX? Their label has very vague information.
    Edit: I’ll try the 1:20 dilution and go from there but would still love to know what has worked for you. Thanks!

    • @apexdetail85
      @apexdetail85  5 років тому

      interiors....10:1 for lightly soiled. 5:1 for hammered interiors. 20:1 just to freshen up a bit.

      Apex Detail Thanks for the reply! Tried it at their recommended 1:20 and didn’t like it. I’ll add some more and try again tomorrow.

      Yes you can! If you dont have any other selant or wax, spray and seal will last about 2-3 months. Atleast here in Finland, were winter is pretty rough 😀

  • @johncover3103

    I just don't know where a sealant fits in for me. I would much rather go with something sio2 or tio2 that gives more protection and enhance gloss. If I'm going to put the time in to correct and prep why not to spend a few more bucks and get a more durable product. Anyone care to share their opinion?

      John Cover I’m a dad with 2 young active kids and a black car. If I can do anything quicker and still protect my car while touching the black paint less I’m all for it! I used this on my wheels so far but not the car yet as the pressure washer is put away for winter. Looking forward to testing this out in the spring.

    • @apexdetail85
      @apexdetail85  5 років тому +1

      Yeah...it is subjective. Some go for durability...some for the speed of application...some for gloss...beads...and on and on.
