*Without a doubt, it is the best movie I have ever seen, congratulations to the actors and the director.
In the book, it was stated he was a bit naive to think Germans and France could get along after everything. He also believes it would be all right towards the end.
Because she didn't immediately tell Werner what she saw 3 people died and it was almost 4. He figures it out by her playing the music and pulling him towards the piano that she knows. After the sound of the dinomite that she could have saved his 3 friends.
Jeanne's conflicted/torn because it would be treason/forbidden to engage with the occupying enemy - Werner. But if there wasn't a war they're certainly made for each other with shared commonalities of piano/music, love of the sea and both their fathers dying in WW1. I need a sequel set 15 to 20 years after the war since it has been around the same time since this movie was made, with a happy ending of course.
Celia your interpretation is so much better than adding a subtitle ourselves - I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I adore this movie Thank you so very much!
Also, If she had enough courage to run up to his room to warn him, why didn’t she keep trying to reach him and talk to him? That part makes no sense at all. She is conflicted obviously, but what was she trying to accomplish by sleeping by that window? Murder is murder.
If she had told Werner about the bomb, she would have committed treason against her own people. She was a patriot, she couldn’t do it. At the same time, she is in love with him and can’t let him die in a car she knows is going to explode. She has never spoken to him so she stayed by the window so she could know when he was ready to leave. She ran to the piano to play the Bach piece she knew he would recognize in an exciting tempo that would draw him to her. As he turned to leave you can see her look directly at him and almost mouth the word no! A very dramatic scene!
Sharyn Carr I wonder what he was thinking when he realized she saved his life, but his “friends” were killed. He too, must have been conflicted. This movie tore my heart to pieces 💔
Oh Cindy, their story is so haunting. It is difficult to imagine the dangers that surrounded both of them, he a target of the Resistance and she subject to reprisals for collaboration. She couldn’t save his friends anymore than he could save Marie and her husband. So tragic. 😢
Sharyn Carr your so right Sharyn. This is the only movie that I can’t stop thinking about. So many emotions and so much sadness. It’s easy to forget the horrors of war until you see what people went through. 😞
I don't think the first movie was as special as this one. The original had more dark shadows and not quite complicated about the relationship between the girl and the officer. This was shows romance. The only problem its a different version of the first movie so it doesn't follow the story as well. Just some parts of it.
The war was far from over. He volunteered to go to the Russian Front. He was very disillusioned with the destructiveness of the Nazi regime and he was willing to accept whatever fate had in store for him, most likely death or a Russian prison camp, same outcome. She joined the French Resistance.
Still blows my mind that her cousin attacked her. I think he thought that the Captain was in a relationship with her for reason for car bomb. He didn't know he was staying at the house. Other thing that bothered me is she got upset when he was looking at her mother's picture. Sge went into the room and read his letter. Invaded his space
Not until the end when they realize he is leaving they understand his questioning what's going on. It is very sad for him because he's alone in his thoughts. Wish she would open up to him.
It is pretty unrealistic, because it is inconceivable that she would be silent after she was in his room. That was a definite indication she was enormously attracted to this man of such good character. Of course, there was a chemistry of incredible intensity. She certainly would have spoken to him when she dropped those fish. She knew her feelings at that time, and it wasn’t for that boy in town.
@@bookwormdoe1522 i think if she didn't see that girl's photo in his letter, she might have spoken to him. She might be confused by the relationship between Greta and Werner. And that is the reason Werner tried to explain to her in the living room when she caught him hloding her parents' photo.

Totalmente de acuerdo con usted.

Werner is an idealist.
Quiero hacerme for the war. He was a pacifist.
@thomasphillips96 exactly. He was a pacifist.
He sounds sexy speaking german!
He is Swiss, so he speaks Ger m an & French perfectly.

He's cute and everything but I would be so mad if someone else takes over my house or walking around my house.
That's the point of the whole movie.
This guy could eat crackers in my bed anytime 😂😂

She could have wrote letters in silence atleast instead of watching
♥️♥️♥️
German officer is handsam
💯
Very handsome!
😍😋
No, I just added those subtitles on Windows Movie Maker, is not a ".srt" nor a ".sub" file
Thank you very much.

It was war,

Se eu tivesse 17 anos eu ia procurar vc no mundo inteiro até té encontra!!!!!!
Somebody got their wine's mixed up. Chardonnay is a white wine.
I thought that was wrong too! LOL
I think the 'goof' was intended. It was a subtle way of showing how ignorant these German officers were of the country they were occupying.
What's your point?

I don't understand the end? Is the officer back? The war seems over. Who is she seeing? I need to know the answer!!
As my understanding, he left to Russia, and she joined the French Resistance.
The war was far from over. He volunteered to go to the Russian Front. He was very disillusioned with the destructiveness of the Nazi regime and he was willing to accept whatever fate had in store for him, most likely death or a Russian prison camp, same outcome. She joined the French Resistance.
I believe she joined the "Resistance." Remember when she was asking questions to her grandfather about them and wonder what he knew?
@@sharyncarr4279 That's what I believe too.
Remember the child is still small so the war is still on. I believe she joins the French Resistance.
Do you have the english subtitles of la silence de la mer?
UA-cam has it.
