Hello Lenora, I remember the Prune cake also. It was the only wedding favor back in the day. I recall it was also referred to the Groom's and ordered on a sheet cake. . Usually the night before the wedding they bridesmaids would get together with the bride and wrap individual piece of the cake in foil than a piece of netting was tied up with ribbon. One piece was never enough. Thank you for sharing Popo's Prune cake.
Born and raised in Hawaii, i remember my parents returning from two very fancy Kama'aina weddings and bringing my sister and me little boxes with what Mommy called "dream cake". We were supposed to put it under our pillow and dream about who we would marry. Yes, the box contained delicious Prune Cake which we were allowed to eat with breakfast in the morning. One wedding had the names of the bride and groom printed on the beautiful white boxes. I thought it was a lovely tradition, so did the same when I eventually married on the mainland in 1970. Maybe this was an old fashioned tradition in Hawaii, because none of my friends were familiar with it. I loved the tradition.

Since then I have loved dried fruit & only recently became aware of how versatile dried fruit really is & love baking with it & creating Turkish dishes with it. Add a little more water if dough is too dry. Flour work surface lightly with mochiko. Roll out dough in small batches. Dough must be very thin, almost paper-thin. Use a knife to cut into 1/2-inch squares. Heat oil to 375 degrees. Fry crackers in batches until golden brown on both sides. This will take just a few seconds. Remove with a slotted spoon or strainer, tapping the sides of the fryer to remove excess oil. Drain on paper towels. Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Place cooled rice crackers on a cookie sheet. To make glaze: Combine corn syrup, sugar and soy sauce in a pan and bring to boil over medium heat. Cook until sugar dissolves and mixture begins to thicken, about a minute. Do not overcook or the glaze will be difficult to spread. Pour glaze over rice crackers and mix to coat evenly. Work quickly, as glaze will harden as it cools. Spread crackers into a single layer and separate pieces. Bake 15 to 20 minutes, until glaze is set and crackers are dry but not quite crisp. They will harden and get crispy as they cool. Do not overbake or glaze will burn. Makes about 100 rice crackers.

Plain.
Don’t mind can I have the full recipe pleasssse with measurements in grams, ml., tbsp. & tsp. on wet & dry ingredients & also the oven temperature & baking timing. What’s the oven temperature 350F = ???C. It will be easier for everyone to have universal baking measurements & the wet & dry ingredients too. Thank you so much & very sorry for the inconvenience caused. Your prune cake looks yummy!!!😊
The recipe is on my website, hawaiispicklelady.com under Desserts.
I love prune cake - how much sugar do you use? I am going to make this as soon as I get the sugar measurement. Thanks so much!
Look in the description on youtube. Its on my website under cakes.
@@HawaiisPickleLady Before I asked you for the sugar measurement, I looked at your website and couldn't find any recipes. Right now I looked again, but just found how you started UA-cam, etc., but no recipes. But I found two wonderful prune cake recipes on-line so I won't need your's any more - both of these have exact ingredients so it will be easy to make.
You have to go to my website, Hawaii'sPickleLady.com and look under cake. I guarantee the recipe is there. Let me know if you still have trouble.
Finally! Awesomeness.

@HawaiisPickleLady I I didn't see a section for Deserts. I wanting to know how much sugar you put in your Prune Cake.
I just checked my website under desserts and the prune cake is there close to the bottom. It's 1c sugar.
