Mate, The bread is not fresh. It's pre-made in a factory then put in the oven for a few minutes at the shop before serving. Look at the underside and you'll see the telltale signs. Just a heads up.
My Bahn Mi place puts mine in the toaster oven to crisp up the bread for me brings it back to life comes out crunch warm outside and soft inside love Bahn Mi. Price for that with all that pork is ok. 😁😜✔
What a shame they've closed. Was going to check them out. Have you tried the Vietnamese restaurant on Main St Kangaroo Point, near the Pineapple Hotel?
Competition improves the breed. In Albury we have a couple of places doing Banh mi but not enough volume to match the price and quality of my favourite pre-football place on Victoria Street, or the Springy usual suspects. Crikey Greggo! Haven't you ever had Banh Mi before?
Bahn Mi Thit is the best. Should have given Kim Thanh down at West End a run. Never knew about old mate there at East Brissy. Maybe that’s why they’ve closed down 😂 regarding your comment about the buns, that’s about the only thing the French taught the Viets, how to bake baguettes…..
@@timanderson2493 Well no problem i hope you're not being sarcastic though because its kinda neat to know. Bread is not a main staple in many Asian countries and yet the French influence allowed the Vietnamese to master some great break making skills . Love the intro tunes and suspense it caused in me waters here GregO…! Looked like a great offering… Hope you dropped in to the Shafsto for a schooner to wash it down… Pity she’s closed shop as this wooda been a good cricket feed! Cheers Gibbo
My favourite Banh Mi is classic pork. The most important fillings to me are the pate and the coriander. Crackling is excellent but I’m not sure it enhances the sandwich. You could have some on the side and be just as happy.
In my opinion, the best local bakeries are run by The Vietnamese. The were colonised by the French for a long time, which wasn’t terribly ideal for them but certainly taught them a lot about bread. The Banh Mi roll is essentially the Vietnamese take on a baguette.

$11? Wtf. Do they put bits of gold in it? My local vietnamese bakery sells them for $6.
$6/$7 every Viet bakery in western Sydney Livo/Cabra
For a hotel restaurant, $11 for a sandwich sounds about right!
@@scmac5155 it's a freakin 3 star hotel.
Covid tax
$6.50 at my local Sydney bakery.
Used to go the Vietnamese bakery every day until they banh mi.
clever
Had one of these last week at a great little Viet bakery in sunshine Vic... paid $7.50, it was yummo and very filling. 👍👍
I think thats the 1 opposite the sunshine plaza,if so i know that place, its pretty good, just like it's sister shop in St Albans.
It's next to the news agency on the corner on the main street.... It's been there for ever...30yrs+ I think...
Not the chili hut near corner of of old plaza and JB HiFi across the road at new plaza
Crackling pork sounds nice, but as far as I'm concerned the basic cha lua banh mi can't be beaten.
Sad that they closed down just after you've done your review. I hope the cooks the best of wishes.
any idea why that happened mate?
Mate, The bread is not fresh. It's pre-made in a factory then put in the oven for a few minutes at the shop before serving. Look at the underside and you'll see the telltale signs. Just a heads up.
This place is permanently closed. I can see why.
Lol you're right that place didn't last long
37 deg... this video must have been filmed 4th October as that was the last time Brisbane got that hot.

Banh mi.
Good post, don't worry about the spelling.
$1.50 worth of ingredients sold for $11??
Now we know why that place looks so fancy with no one it!! 😃
Petrol for Greg's ute: $1.60/litre
Banh Mi for lunch: $11
Greg's expression when he gets the dentist bill: Priceless!
Did he really break a filling thought that was a joke
That music in the beginning was awesome sounds like going into a medieval battle of sorts. Perfect for a quest of the banh mi
holy shit that’s expensive, only 6$ each in Adelaide some places even 5$
Gosh, you made that crackle sound so good!!
half the "crackle" was his filling remember
Love you Grego you have made me reconsider doing something drastic personally. Thank you mate
As a Vietnamese living in Sydney, I’ll guarantee you will never see Banh Mi store looking as fancy as that place

Anything more than $8 and you're overpaying. They're $6 at my local.
Agreed. Standard is $8. I’d be lucky to get anything cheaper in my area and still be good.
What a shame they've closed. Was going to check them out. Have you tried the Vietnamese restaurant on Main St Kangaroo Point, near the Pineapple Hotel?
An cafe Vietnamese. Good pho. West end has a bowl of it the size of your head too!!
Same Banh Mi in Saigon costs about $1. Got to love Australia.👍
Yeah, but 1aud = 16400 dong.
I imagine the overheads are the same...
I think wages might be a bit lower. You volunteering?
That roll looked "filling" lol. I'll let myself out...
Wtf i literally live next door to this place.. wonder when this was filmed lol what a suprise
Damn i was just about go jump in the car and go there, anyway might go to the one at Nundah Village called Mr Bui Banh and see what that's all about.

11 bucks crikey, Maybe I’m just getting old i remember buying a paddle pop from the school canteen for 15 cents lol
Dw this is just really overpriced - full sized Banh mi in Sydney for $5.
Sometimes the banh mi's you get don't seem to have good enough bread but this one clearly does!
Close the shop down GregO? tell em Greg sent ya !
Looks like what we wish we were ordering when getting a McRib
The yellow mayo color = authentic hand made mayo with egg yolks 💯
So sorry that it closed.
The Vietnamese learnt their bread making skills from the French colonial period.
Thanks for the history lesson
