Sometimes riding bitless with a hackamore is much more severe! It puts pressure on the sensitive nerves of the face, and in a heavy handed rider can be very painful indeed. A good, well fitted bit , suited to the horse for the activity required is often the much gentler choice.
@@impunitythebagpuss FINALLY someone who in that. everyone’s always like “oh bitless is so good and non abusive” even when the rider has heavy rough hands
I prefer bitless. If they can't ride with soft hands they shouldn't be jumping at this level. If a bitless hackamore is put on correctly it is much more comfortable. Vet documents state "Bits have been associated with mouth, lip and jaw-bone lesions [3, 4] High rein pressure on the bit can lead to the restriction of head movement during riding, resulting in uncomfortable postures and/or movements as horses attempt to avoid the bit pressure" If used correctly bits can be a great tool to help give a horse clearer signals but you can also use other things such as your legs and leaning to provide the signals. My preference is bitless and I don't have an issue with bits as long at they are not being used by a heavy-handed person. I believe lesson horses for new riders should always be bitless because new riders rely way to much on the reins.
Weather was perfect for the Royal this year, attend Friday evening jump performance and it was great. This November has been warmer then usual. As always the show was well organized and very entertaining. Looking forward to next year.
Lived in Toronto many years! Visited the Royal horseshow several nights every year! Now I'm in Newfoundland and miss this competition every November. Thanks for posting these classes! Well done everyone!
these horses are beautiful! nice looking jumps and quite well-built horses. i respect the women on this show, a lot of the time its only men. Well done riders!
I love this sm! I watched all of it, its so awesome, I absolutely love and I mean *love* horses! They're so awesome..so magical! Just everything about them is awesome
although she needed a little more air on the jumps to make it over without a fault. But overall well done. it would be nerve racking getting in front of a crowd and jumping.
I know nothing about horses and equestrian stuff so im asking this purely from a place of curiosity, but i feel like the horse Austria’s rider was pretty harsh with her? Or am i getting that wrong. I just kinda got bad vibes
@@impunitythebagpuss world of difference !! I watched a rider switching his horse because it balked at the water. You would not want an “aide” used on you, I am sure.
Correction, horses don't ,over jumping, hey have absolutely no choice, plus in the realm of physics, it's no beuno on their joints. Why bars fall? Because the animals are obviously tired and worn. The older the get, the more their joints are worn very quickly because of sports like this. I've come to learn a lot and still learning on the dynamics of equestrian disciplines and horses in general. I USE to enjoy these disciplines in the prospective of ignorance. Doesn’t always mean the bits are harmful

I tried bitless and my horse hated it, she actually preferred the bit 😅

Spunky little horse
Those kicks!!! won't touch anything! Never seen a horse do that so dramatically before

Don’t understand the ones who carry a whip ! Whip should not be necessary…..
You obviously don't ride seriously.
@@zarziamirah1936 are you saying that a serious rider must beat his or her horse ? Someday, they will be outlawed. Shamey on you.
They know their horses. There's a world of difference between "beating your horse" and using the crop as an aide.

"Worn very quickly"? Then explain why a 19 year old horse is jumping and jumping very well in this competition.
