Hi Sir/Madam, Tannoy Gold 8 or Genelec 8010a? I have a small to mid-sized room, but I've been using Adam A7X for years for listening mostly and playing guitar through amp sims as a hobby. I want to try a Genelec to hear what's so good about them. But I'm also afraid of losing the sub-bass extension from the 8010a. Should I just go with the Tannoy Gold 8? Or get a Genelec 8010a and get a subwoofer later in the future? Any advice?
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does someone know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account?? I somehow forgot the account password. I would love any tricks you can offer me!
@Hudson Ryan Thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im trying it out now. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Speakers -> Microphone -> Audio interface -> DAW -> Video editing program -> UA-cam sound compressing algorhytm -> Your audio interface -> Your Speakers -> What you hear :)
The Gold 8s are really impressive for what they do; yes, there's a bit of a bump in the low-end (easily tamed by room DSP or onboard EQ), but the low-mids have more clarity, and the mids are neautral. The thing about the highs is, they're so clean and defined, WITHOUT sounding harsh, which is excellent at this price point. Because of the power output and clarity throughout the entire freq range, it makes monitoring/mixing at low levels not only doable, but an absolute joy. Which is something you don't really find at this price range. And any mixing engineer will tell you how important it is to mix at low volumes. The Presonus are good, but I'd easily spend my money on the Golds for the reasons stated above. On top of that, the Golds are also great for general music listening. And one thing these sound comparisons cannot do is give a clear indication of the stereo field and imaging, which the Golds should win, because of their dual concentric design.
My two favourite 8's, if they would borrow bits from each other, it would make a perfect monitor(s). I'm leaning towards Eris, slightly more to my liking.
Well thats a hard one... The Eris E8 XT's are very nice and sound very good overall and have a nice stage, you cant go wrong with them, especially with just 500Bucks a pair. But i'd say the Tannoy's win this, especially for the enjoyment of music, as they have twice the power, get a bit louder and are better balanced from the mids to the highs, which gives them the edge over the E8 XT's as they sound a little warmer and brighter, but i think they are also a bit more tight stagewise. Especially good are they around the 4KHz mark, which gives some instruments and female voices more clarity and detail also they dont drop of at the higher end, combined with a slightly stronger bass (apart from the hard drop to the low mids, exceeding even the E8's, followed by the big spike, which sometimes comes in a little strange, here the E8 XT are more consistent imho), they are the better choice for music listening from my perspective...but also cost atleast 300bucks more.
That large bump around 4kHz on Tannoy completely ruins the character of soundscape for me (some will sense it as more clarity). I'd say Presonus wins (for studio work).
Studio monitors are used with the room audio profile loaded into its source, so they have flat frequency response. Tannoy own frequency response is not much important. But still its phase rotation does not look nice despite dual concentric speaker structure, while THD is OK. But still dual concentric may be helpful for near field monitors because they sound consistent from closer distance than regular woofer+twitter monitors.
Good good good, thx for so much new Speaker! Welcome back Tannoy, i really like the new Gold Speaker. Little bit to much Bass but with Wall Filter is that no problem. Rooms and Halls so good to hear (for me really important) and overall sounds this Speaker for this Price really nice. I prefer Tannoy more, yes a Presonus User say this but in Comparison i hear more Room, all another details and it sounds better on Tannoy , less 2D, more space for Instruments and so ;) greetings
The Tannoys are a bit more dynamic and punchy, the the PreSonus' vocals are a bit more accurate. Tough choice. Tannoys for rock and pop folks and PreSonus' for the jazz/classical folks. Both sound great for the money.
Golds are not bad but their lower mid bump is a bit "hairy". Presonus really surprising over all with more flat sounding response. Great vid thanks :-)
Digital Stereophony, Which of these two speakers is more interesting in your opinion? Previously, you wrote your own conclusions and thoughts about comparisons, it was clear what was happening.
Wow very close. On some tracks almost, indistinguishable. However, on the classical track, the Gold 8 is better at instruments separation. I am subscribed. Any plan to test the Gold 7?
The most important part of your monitoring setup is your acoustics, that is 80% of being able to trust the sound you are hearing... after that can you hear what your speak shows and speaker will also not differ as much in the same price range. What is import and what I have found is after you have found a choice of speakers that can show you enough detail... clearly be able to hear things out of phase... how separated things are... etc etc... the next important thing is "WHICH SPEAKERS SOUNDS LIKE HOW I WOULD WANT TO MAKE A TRACK SOUND" which is a odd statement because we often think that flat means lifeless. The thing is, listening to this, I would be trying to make the presonus speakers sound like this and would be trying to draw blood from a rock and actually be adding too much. The upper mid seems to suck in on the Presonus speakers and I would be constantly trying to put that in when it's not actually doing that. With this test, I would go Tannoy... neither would be a good choice without good room acoustics done properly first. Would be paying 4 times as much for the acoustics than the speakers at this price, but that money would be worth it. You can not do this for a living without proper acoustics.
With this being said... I find KRK go even more in that direction and add too much of the sound I'm looking for and so the mix always sounds a little thinner than with other speakers... this is not a easy choice or one size fit all quest
For instance... the last track, would be easier to mix on the Presonus for me... some producers need more than one set of speakers for this reason not just the fact some tell them different things
Hello, thank you for your video and the quality of the recording. Is it possible to use the Tannoy 8 as Hifi speaker for living room (40m2) ? and eventually plug a TV ? Do i need a pre-ampli or other ? Thank you in advance.
Yes to both questions. You can use them as HiFi speakers and you can connect them with a TV via the headphone jack in your TV without the need for a preamp, just proper analog cables
@@DSAUDIOreview Ok, thank you very much for your answer. I like the sound of these Tannoy in your videos, for you they are the best for the price categorie ?
@@nicoschlosser unfortunately they are not the best nor the worst. I personally use Yamaha HS8 and prefere it over Tannoy. I also regard Kali LP8 as a superior speaker to Tannoy. Both are in the same price range
Gold 8 gives more power in punch due to higher output (300watt Vs 125watt). However, E8 XT with more natural and spacious sound field, in terms of C/P value, E8 XT wins. Good job!😉
The 300 watts only happens when u utilize the bi ampliers by Connecting two reference sources! Really only 150 watts when used ing the single amplifier!
I think not. maybe at the back of the monitors. No bass trap too, we have a huge did a 90hz on all calibration he makes. At home I have a huge 100hz dip. so when I listen to the sound comming out these video on my home studio.. bass is weak haha. So I use earphones when I watch these videos
Tannoys sound richer but the woofer and tweeter seem better integrated in sound on the XT to my ears , which makes the guitars sound better on the XT and overall I think the XT sounded tonally more mature BUT the Tannoys have better soundstage and separation. amirite?
Hmmm I’m confused now I was thinking about getting the gold 7 but it sounds like the low end of the 8s is a bit exaggerated compare to the e8 even tough it’s more close to the source track but it makes the mids to get less forward and overall the e8 sounds more flat. Would really love to listen to hs7 vs gold 7 vs e7 xt plz

Pretty amazing how good cheaper monitors have gotten! I think I prefer the Presonus.

For me, Tannoy for listening and PreSonus for mixing

Tannoy Gold. I'm hearing more bass and the whole sound is more detailed and full. I never realised how thin sounding the Presonus actually was.
Correct.. 👍👍
More natural and close to the original Presonus without a doubt. And cheaper.
Tannoy sounds good .If buying one of the two brands would be a hard decision.
Well thats a hard one...

That's his room resonance not the speakers
very similar level speakers - i hear the tannoy brighter, somewhere it is good, somewhere not.
I think the best comparison would be Tannoy Gold 8 with Munro Egg 150
Tannoy gold 8 good for mixing..eris good for recording
Touché.
Since how long can you record with a speaker?
Oh I see you started to play with the big boys!!! :) Do you plan to put these Tannoys Gold 8 vs the Tannoy Reveal 802???
802 still beats all of them in therms of electronic music :D
PreSonus= not bad. Tannoy= detail. If you can't hear the difference, don't spend the money.

PreSonus Eris E8 XT. Definitely.
Digital Stereophony
how far was the microphone from the speakers?
gold 8 for music, E8 XT for work!!!
Presonus edges out on top 👍
Tannoy are so good. I take them over Vocal 80. What a speaker. Can u compare to M Audio BX8?
Please can you do E5 XT vs E7 XT ?
有8不要7和5
Thanks for these videos. Could you share the REW projects just to check time response and delay? Bests.
Tannoy play Very Audiophile and uniqe.
Damn, they need to get to 8" in order for classical music to sound full and not thinny.
the Gold 8 seems to be more accurate to source at times, but the E8 always sound better to me. the E8 definitely has a high bias for sure

Presonuses sound overall much truer to the source, but I'm not sure about details, looks like they get a bit overwhelmed sometimes.
yes, the mids are a bit more dominant in the Tannoy-Sound
:)

Tannoy Reveal 502 (802) vs other speakers and Behringer Nekkst k5.k8 vs other please! THX!
Hi! What did you buy? I don`t know which should i chose Reveal 502 or Eris E5 XT (my room - 8.2 m2)

tannoy wins hands down, the eris are scooped in the mids but still sound nice, although the tannoys are way more revealing and neutral
I'm listening to this video on my Gold 8s, does that bias my experience? LOL
Same here, paired with a SVS SB2000.
Have you tried to acoustically treat your room at all? Looks like you would benefit from a ceiling cloud.

12:48 What happened with 80Hz region? Looks like they don't 'Rock'.
The tannoy wins with the coax setup...it's in a league of it's on. The stereo width and depth and smooth mids
Tannoys sound richer but the woofer and tweeter seem better integrated in sound on the XT to my ears , which makes the guitars sound better on the XT and overall I think the XT sounded tonally more mature BUT the Tannoys have better soundstage and separation.
amirite?
Yes but u can turn the brightness down on the tannoy to suit you same with bass
Please can you do E8XT Vs Krk Rokit 8G4 :)
PreSonus is very underated! Wow.
I share your feeling, the 8's low end is a bit exaggerated and boomy.
But also note that you cannot hear the advantage of coaxial design from a sound demo AT ALL.
How can you make camparisons? Here you are listening to the microphone you use not the monitor!!!
You cant compare speakers like that. only in anechoic chamber and be present or in a room you already know
4:00 METAL HEAD ← Who is the Music?
Tannoy wins just edging out the Presonus!
Anyone know a pair of small monitors so I don't go with a 2.1 setup?
ILoud Micro
Recessed low mids in the personas for me gives it to the Gold's yet again
Please! Dynaudio Xeo 10.
Tannoy shows you more things than the eris XT
Gold with more detail and metal plays better.
Eris E8 XT - 9 Tannoy Gold 8 - 8
PreSonus Eris 8 XT better than Tannoy Gold 8 which means it is also better than Kali Audio LP8! WOW!!! FUCK ME!
please test presonus e44
Any of these regular monitors against the MTM Eris E44/66 would be so interesting!!! Init?
@@rockfella27 E44 can show a more balanced sound (of course, the bass will need to be added with a subwoofer)
as an eris 5 owner, tannoy is far better than presonus !
I own Tannoy System 800 and eris and they both sound great the difference is in the tone
tannoy win
Only Dynaudio. Eris damn cheats. As concerned Tannoys it is comeback with dual concentric but i didn’t work with them.
Cheats how? But for the money Presonus Eris series is great!
e5 xt vs e7 xt
Both of these hit good bass but a muddy mid and high is all i hear..
Presonus sounds more 'right' to my years. Tannoy's frequency response sounds inferior.
Oh if only the Tannoy would be as fast as PRESONUS
Gold 8 bass sounds unnatural, that bass is loud enough but not deep enough as 8'' woofer
presonus is a bit nasal sounding imo
Presonus
Tannoy BY FAR
Instead of Metal Head try Gojira next time
I think it's a matter of copyrights and money made by watching these videos, if you use Gorija video, the profit made in these video will go to gojira
instead of making a useless comment learn how copyright works next time.
Wow, so I guess for someone who is not a hardcore audio engineering pro, this video has got to be like totally boring, right?

Zawiodły mnie te Tannoye niestety.
