To the guy with the criminal record, I think I can answer his question since an old friend of mine was able to visit despite having gotten arrested once. The answer is it would depend on what you did. Just having a criminal record doesn’t ban you from visiting the country but be prepared to be taken aside for further questioning and to answer the questions as truthfully as you can.
8:27 Fun Fact: Alfred Wegener was the man who first discovered and theorized continental drift. He was never academically recognized in his time, and it was only after his death that his work was given its deserved recognition and accepted by the scientific community.
When I mentioned that I'm from Denmark, the only famous person the Japanese mentioned is H.C. Andersen and that's about it. I've never met anyone who's obsessed with Vikings, but I'm sure there's at least someone in Japan who can list off every ancient warrior and king who ever lived 😅
@@hyuduthinkur I've never heard him mentioned, but for a fictional Danish character he ought to be known. It's been far too long since I went to Japan, and I didn't really go out of my way to tell anyone about my country unless they asked. Maybe more people would mention Mads Mikkelsen these days since he played a character in Kojima's Death Stranding game a while back.
The BnB in Air BnB literally is bed and breakfast. The founders initially rented out air mattresses in the third bedroom of their apartment to cover the rent. Indeed it's AirBed and Breakfast because that is what was offered.
This is accurate- I hung out with friends and one of the co-founders in college at RISD in Providence, an art university interestingly, I went there too. They were broke when they decided to rent a room with air mattresses to help pay rent.
Yes, you should leave a bad review for the AirBNB (assuming the account isn't under your known name - I suppose that could be why you were hesitant) It still seems rather questionable by the host - I would be really annoyed if I were told all bedrooms were for me but had some random stay - did the host even know this person was staying (were they hired only to do a hand over but are staying there without the owner knowing?). Sounds sketchy and would not feel very safe personally.
It's funny how sometimes you get a wacky story sent in and the response is "I've never encountered that". And sometimes it's like the German enthusiast, when I can distinctly remember Chris talking about a similar encounter with someone who was very enthusiastic about talking about the UK
I wonder what is the implication of how women are more satisfied with relationship than men. Something about how men expected _something else_ from the relationship than women…
Or maybe the woman goes out with a guy, drains his bank account a little, ghosts "Yeah i was happy with the relatioship" You have to look at all possibilities
@@sirBrouwer That kinda was the case, the bar was soft opened for Patreons (at least Chris's, don't know about Sharla's) because he announced it on Patreon before he announced it anywhere else. I would love for you to a video on the post in Yokosuka. I grew up on the basei in Yokota. And would visit there often. It’ll be a nice stroll down memory lane.
There is homeless in Japan Shinjuku station has lots hanging out. They give out meals in the station. Oriental Pearl who works with a homeless organization covers it, her and her husband bring them food even. Nomad Push is a homeless person who supports himself via UA-cam in Japan.
6:53 "A root that does nothing." Reminds me of a beauty cream/hand lotion that we have here in Colombia 🇨🇴. It's called Theatrical and when It appeared some years ago, they promoted that stuff with "It has mother cells from an Asian Flower" without especifying what "Asian Flower". 😂😂😂
10 years and at least just as many relationships in Japan, I've realized that the concept of companionship nearly doesn't exist here. Everything is transactional with one of two goals: The man single-handedly supporting a wife and kids, or the man spoiling the woman and appeasing her insecurities. It's all take and no give.
JAPAN IS AMONG THE WORST AT ROMANCE but only in the past 50 years. Post-World War II they were better. 45 thousand Japanese women married American military guys. I would recommend watching the 1957, beautifully in color, movie, "Sayonara," starring Marlon Brando, about a romance between an American fighter pilot (setting is post-war Japan) and a Japanese woman. The novel of the same name was out a few years before the movie. Then, compare the novel/movie to the updated, 21st century novel "Sayonara Revisited," about two zany American teachers who go to Japanese to teach English but mostly to find Japanese wives. It is satirical and comically reflects the difficulties of dealing with 21st century Japanese women.
My Japanese ex wife had 2 emotions. Angry and “depressed”. She drained my happiness and soul and bank account for many years. I just wish I escaped her much sooner. She was a parasitic narcissist. Oh…. And Sex life was zero.
From the nicest members only bar to one of the dirtiest locker room, always have a drink in your hand or get kicked out bar Gas Panic... fond memories of there 10+ years ago in my early 20s hanging with some 30+ nurses haha.
There must be an odd literal translation for "creatures" that in english we normally call "insects" because my japanese sensei was teaching us about the words for animals and bugs and he directly translated it as "beast" too....I cannot remember the japanese word he used rn
And yet, India has been ranking in the 130-140s in the world happines index for years. Whereas Japan has been in the 40-50s. So maybe let's stop focusing on the romance and sex so much because I feel the Japanese are always being somewhat shamed when the subject of romance is brought up. I would say overall happiness with life is much more important.
In my experience: yes. Woman in Japan don't care about romance. They only want to pose with a foreigner for clout and ghost you as soon as they got that. It's not so bad with Japanese woman abroad, was far as I can tell, but for some reason within Japan, never had a good experience. Korean woman are much more romantic. Again, that is, of course, only my experience, so don't take my word for it.
