Great video! Looking forward to being able to upgrade to the My Side at some point. Saw a used one on eBay, but I don't like that sketchiness for something like a carburetor. For now, I decided to rip out the Hitachi and put in a 3K from Certified Machine. Better safe than sorry! My Gunson Colortune did not like the colors of the Hitachi at any time of the day...
The CV has an excellent rep for even burning and difficult to be responsible for running rich. Very tunable to any pumper type engine with good compression
Now this is a great explanatory video. I have a 16v and would be great to have the visual explanation like you did to the 8v. Are the plungers located the same? Once located can you test them the same way for the 16v? Thanks!
Awesome video as always. I’ve been trying to fix an issue with my 93 efi samurai for several months now. It runs very poorly and the warmer the engine gets it sputters and wants to die. The spark plugs ate soot black and Ive noticed the injector dripping fuel when the key is just turned on. Is that normal?
@Zuksoffroad I have an issue with idle. When cold, no issues. After the engine is warm and I turn the motor off, it will not idle ... RPM drops and kills it. Sometimes I can get it to catch again. Usually, I need to wait a while for the engine to cool before idle works again. 96 Geo Tracker with 1.6V. Suggestions??
89-90 is the bastard year half efi half non. Yes there was an injector however that one year was Suzuki l’s disaster the first six months of 89 the first sidekick. It had a carbed 1.3 and the lowest axle gearing they had to use to make the car get above 55 mph on a flat. The first 1.6 had the popcorn system. Thus named because of the sound made on deceleration. The 89-90 had a trumpet air horn that enhanced the sound. Nearly all owners went to the Suzuki USA* dealers repeatedly. Complaining the engine was bad because of the noise. There were not a lot of affordable efi cars back then. 91-95 the next efi was smarter. Which means more sensors and gadgets. It had a smaller air horn with an insulation hat to cover the popping sound. To me the popping makes me smile then laugh. So what’s the difference between dumb and smart? Popcorn had vacuum advance distributor 2 wire vs cam sensor third wire and ECU controlled timing. Basic Bullet Proof round coil vs Ignitor triggered Coil pack. Basic 1 wire O2 sensor vs three wire preheated O2 sensor Weirdest relay set up with combined Main and Fuel Pump relay (I have yet figured it out because I know electronics and this looks like voodoo magic wiring) vs two separate Relays controlled by the ECU by grounding and ungrounding the coil (small pink wire-fuel/small blue for main relay)closing and opening the switch. No VSS vs Smart wants more gadgets like how fast you going boy? Vss is vehicle speed sensor. There’s a little more but thats the best answer you will get.
I currently own an '88 efi Vitara. Runs like charm with no weird sound you're describing! Wired in an afr meter and shows good oscillation between rich and lean (new o2 sensor obviously). Changing the caps on the ecu today just for precautions. Lovely car!
Skiing snowboarding sounds fun until my knee bends up and taps my cheek or shoulder say hey Paul u don't know how to ski or snowboard. Yelp should have stayed ur big a$$ on lift. Lol
I needed this video! I bought a 94 8v and it’s had a high idle. I’ll be going through all the things you touch on. Thanks My!

No actually totally different system. Explained very well at fixkick.com
makes so much more sense, what is the difference between the 8v 1.3 and 1.6? injector size?
The same size, the 1.6 sprays more.

Once you text me I will ask you some simple questions.
What "still shot" (photograph) were you referring to?
If no still shot in our dozens of videos what specifically would you like to see.
