I was frying shrimp and reach around the corner to answer the phone and when I turned back there was 6 ft flames hitting the ceiling and when I went to pull the pan back I spilled all the hot oil on my hand.. imagine when I showed the maintenance man when he came to repair the damage why there was damage on the ceiling and floor but no damage to the wall or counter and I had 3 rd degree burns on both of the thumb areas of my hands.. they fixed the apartment for free and I did treatment for months and now no scars.. I am so glad no one was hurt in your case but fires are scary and it helped you move into a peaceful place now and your repair skills are getting better each day.. you are showing women how they can learn to upkeep the home in more ways than cleaning

Oh Valerie! I am so sorry. So thankful you are all okay! That is so scary. I am glad insurance will be taking care of all the clean up and repairs. What a big job on top of trying to move. The laundromat was a blessing as well. Where else could you knock out all of that laundry in record time. Not at home for sure! Never leave anything on stove alone. Never leave small appliances plugged in if not in use.
Truth is after a friend's fire I no like longer leave even my countertop microwave plugged in.
I don't trust anything plugged in if I am not in immediate attendance of it.
Always have smoke alarms( not direct wire but battery ones)and carbon monoxide detectors.
Direct wire don't function if power goes out.
And keep flash lights by each window to find a way out.
That had to be so very scary.
My friend's fire scared me good.
