I've always been a big fan of Glen his animation. He's also a very inspirational talker and i had the honor to attend one of his talks at Annecy. Even though he might not be as technical or precise as a James Baxter or Eric Goldberg, he has a way to make somethinglook so appealing and visceral that totally ads to the magic of animation. You just keep replaying his work and the emotion he manages to evoke. What a master of his craft!
@@reginaldforthright805 he's still my favorite one, his animations are unarguably astounding and he's behind some of the best animated movies ever made
Glen Keane is a Maverick. I Love The Great Mouse Detective, Oliver and Company, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Pocahontas, Tarzan, and Tangled. Now He's Directing a Movie for Netflix and Pearl Studios.
I sometimes think that the Glen Keane style became the Disney house style for all their new 3D animated films, Tangled and everything else after it looks the same but there's a Glen Keane influence because I think he designed the characters of Tangled.
He is one of the best people to ever work at Walt Disney Animation Studios after Walt Disney passed away, along with one of Walt Disney Animation Studios' best animators they have ever had (especially in the Modern Age of US Animation).
I notice that there is an inordinate amount of footage of Ariel, Marahute, and Ratigan, plus some of the Beast, Sykes, Fagin, and John Silver, but very little of Tarzan, Pocahontas, and Aladdin. Frankly, I consider this a major insult.
Jordan Briskin I tried to represent Glen Keane's whole career, but it wasn't easy to identify his animation in those last three movies. Any information on which scenes he did would be most welcome!
ibcf Well, I know for sure that he animated Pocahontas in the scene where she met John Smith at the waterfall, and during "Colors of the Wind". And he animated Tarzan towards the end of "Son of Man". That's all that I know for a fact.
Listen to me, fellas. The ultimate design for Ariel is from the great Glen Keane. Glen's mermaid always be THE TRUE ARIEL, not the current Ariel. Period.
I think I figured it out. Glen's work is best defined as major complex movement through 3Dimentional space. Not neccessarily full turnarounds, but more like constantly changing cameras angles, of constantly moving characters. No wonder he has so many iconic film moments.
Henry Selick also animated the bear in The Fox and The Hound, under Glen. Henry drew him without a head because he liked it better and obviously Glen didn't like that.
Glen's animation is god tier. That company might as well call him The Godfather, because if you want animation like Bill Tytla for modern Disney, Glen is it.

I'm pretty sure Keane has animated the "My Mother" scene from the Chipmunks movie, or at least the Jeanette's part - the overall cuteness is, to my eyes, too Keanesque! Someone can confirm this to me?

Even though the renaissance Disney animators aren’t as smooth and consistent as the nine old men, the staging is a lot more dynamic. So they both have their charms - the old animation has a stately and refined elegance, the new style has power and drama
Glen is one of my top favorite modern Disney animators, my other modern ones include James Baxter, Andreas Deja, Nik Raineri, and Eric Goldberg.
Same here, my brother.
Likewise! 😉👍
Those guys need to get together and start their own animation studio. James Baxter did for a while.
@@RachelDeRosier010894 All but Nik Ranieri has had a studio at one point.
Glen Keane, Eric Goldberg and James Baxter are my favorite Disney animators.
Glen is the best. I miss hand drawn animation.
I miss 2D animated movies in general. They had so much expression.
Oh so it was *him* who made Tarzan look like a badass. 😦

Glen Keane is like the best Disney animator so this was a nice way to see all of his work in one video
James baxter: oh that's cute
@@videosdrive469haha thats a joke right. He’s not even the best belle animator.

Interesting enough, he would direct Dear Basketball and Over the Moon.
Amaizing!!

Glen Keane and Mark Henn both cheered up ariel?
Glean keane is better than every bleach and naruto animators
Glen should've done mulan
Mulan was done in Florida. If Keane were chosen as Supervising Animator on Mulan, he'd have to move to Florida.
Glen Keane tries so hard to be a Milt Kahl, but the forms and solidity just isn't as strong.
James Baxter was trying Milt Kahl. Not Glen Keane, I think he was trying to be Frank Thomas I guess IDK.
@@lukeperkins1024 The way Keane does that "eyes looking inward" effect makes me think of Frank Thomas.
