And he's a really nice guy in person as well, who can also do great voice impressions of many cartoon characters. I once asked him why Disney never asked him to do any character voices and he sadly answered, "Because they never asked me."
Eric Goldberg is one of my favorite Disney animators of all time that can do wacky cartoony style of slapstick animation this is why I like that style of the animation ever since🩵💙❤️
One of my most profound inspirations on animation, along with drawing style I've been developing over years. The sheer charming character and jolliness imbued in all of his animations and creations are nothing short of legendary in fun form.
That test shot for Roger Rabbit 2 was animated by Tom Bancroft (Eric was the director. Eric did contribute some very strong character layout poses). The version shown here is "rotoscoped" CG animation over top of Tom's hand drawn animation of Roger. There was more animation done for the Roger 2 test footage , but none of it has escaped on to the internet.
not enough people are talking about how well you synced up these clips to different parts of this song, i love this video sm lol great song and great animation, love it love it
The way I see it THREE people brought the Genie to life: Robin Williams for playing him, Eric Goldberg for animating him, and Howard Ashman, as Genie's three songs (if you have the "Genie's the merchant at the beginning" Headcanon) were his only songs that weren't cut. Sure Robin's improv was hilarious, but somebody had to put that improv to visuals. Somebody had to make a ton of wacky forms and celebrity caricatures to go with Genie's impersonations.
You know, when I look at Eric's animation, especially with his animation of hands..those expressive hand movements he gave the characters, I felt like I was looking at Milt Kahl's animation. There is a such a parallel between the two when it comes to hand movements, I very much wonder if Eric studied Milt's animation reels and sketches.
Fantastic! But some points: the Superman segment (3:24), the black cat (12:37) and the commercial of 14:01 were done by the another great animator: Richard Williams. Also the Roger Rabbit of 12:47 was done in CGI
The Roger Rabbit animation at 12:47 was "rotoscoped" CGI over Tom Bancroft's hand drawn animation of Roger (Eric directed and contributed some character layout poses). More animation was done for the Roger 2 test footage , but only this CG test (over the original hand drawn animation) has escaped on to the internet.
Here's a list of characters I want Eric Goldberg to draw Principal Tezuka Hooty Hop Pop Plantar Scratch (The Ghost and Molly McGee) Major Monogram Grandpa Long Genie Ludo Professor Dementor Soos Ramierez Fred Frederickson Reuben (Lilo and Stitch) Cannonball (Lilo and Stitch) Phantasmo (Lilo and Stitch) Jumba Jookiba Phil (Hercules) Roger Klotz Principal Prickly Lydia Pearson Kurt Blobberson Rabbit (Winnie the Pooh) Krusty the Clown Sideshow Bob Boomhauer Rocky Hammerhead

Eric Goldberg Should've Animated SpongeBob and The Cuphead Show !
At least he’s voiced Tweety in “Looney Tunes: Back in Action”
His animation is the best. So funny and expressive
Eric Goldberg is one of my favorite Disney animators of all time that can do wacky cartoony style of slapstick animation this is why I like that style of the animation ever since🩵💙❤️
Fun fact: Goldberg was credited as Claude Raynes when working for Chuck Jones’ shorts and sequences
why?
@@desvendandoaculturapop5516 So Disney wouldn't caught him.

In the Aladdin DVD commentary, Eric credited the Genie cookbook scene to animator Dave Burgess.
I like also the Looney Tunes animations he made.
It's like he got the touch after Ken Harris. And maybe… he did.
This guy was one of the best animaters on Richard Williams team. If your wondering why he’s so good, thank Richard Williams.
Richard Williams wasn’t any good himself though
I'm shocked he was able to make such great CGI animation for the Roger Rabbit 2 test
Tom Bancroft actually animated that, I'm not sure if he did the CG over top but the handdrawn original wasn't done by him

15:01 i like how ypu can see the anger in his eye's for a split second.
That was a glorious tribute to an amazingly talented and versatile animator! My favorite!!
His animated creations have so much heart, Genie and Philoctetes are two of the Disney characters I love the most
greatest goddamn animator who ever lived. LOVE goldberg's work.
Eric loves animation! It shows in his work.
This was synced beautifully with the music
If Only There's A Bendy and the Ink Machine Animated Series with Animation by Eric Goldberg !
Great! Love Eric Goldberg!
Aladdin is just on another level isn’t it
Bang up job on the editing
He was also on camera in Fantasia 2000, I think in the introduction to the flamingo with the yoyo segment

I miss his work
this guy is a monster holy hell
8:40 lol nice edit there hahaha
*Louis the Alligator was my uncle’s favorite character before he died from diabetes he loved the Princess and the Frog🩵💙💐*
I Love This Animation
Wow, quite a resume.
I want to honor this guy.
The "Ziggy's Gift" animation is Dan Haskett's.
Goldberg animated the little girl giving Ziggy a kiss in that film.
Man what a legend
14:03 where is this from?

You can tell because it’s nowhere near as good

He worked on Son of the Mask?!?
Unfortunately, yes.
How do you know all this shots were animated by him?
7:33 What is the name of that film or short, please?
Ms. Doubtfire - it’s an extended version of a small scene that appears in the film
