Obviously A LOT of Japanese and Korean words are translated based on the pronunciation of English, but Chinese adapts free translation for most of the loanwords which leads to a totally different pronunciation compared to other three languages.
+Sparkling Harmony Names are certainly translated based on the English pronunciation if using it in an official way, but if you are talking about their nicknames, that depends on the characteristics of the celebrity. Like we usually call Miley Cyrus "the tongue bitch" (舌婊), if you know what I mean. As for Britney Spears, we go for "Sweety Britney" (this is my own back translation) something like that.

Actually the Chinese pronunciation of Spain is closer to the Spanish name of Spain: España ~ Xibanya The only difference is the first syllable , they used "Xi" meaning west .
Chinese version sounds so different is because we actually translate them, but no just pronounce the english words in our own language. There's mainly two ways: one, we use words that sounds similarly(they usually don't mean anything together in Chinese, but not all of them); two, we translate them to the actual Chinese words. Or it can be in both, like Britney Spears, xiao tian tian is our nickname for her, means sweet, and we translate her name Britney using words that sounds similar bulanni(but we all know they are different, this is not chinese accent, we don't say the english words in this translation). I hope this helps. Intresting video:D
In Chinese, most of the words from other different languages are translated by the exact meaning except the name of people, unlike the Korea and Japan, they are likely to follow the original syllables of words. So there are massively different.
In case nobody has already pointed this out, the Chinese word for SPAIN is actually more "authentic" than the Korean or Japanese version. Why? Because the Japanese and Korean words for Spain are copied from English ("Spain"!), while the Chinese copied directly from the Spanish word for Spain: "ESPAÑA" (Es-pa-ña = Xi-ban-ya = 西班牙). So, actually, the Chinese guy should be the one laughing. ;)
I study Chinese. Many country names are translated using the original language. España, Hellas (Greece), Deutchland (Germany), Kâmpŭchéa (Cambodia)...and many more. Im costarican. And Chinese name for CR is extremely beautiful and elegant. 哥斯達黎加 (ge si da li jia). Sounds like costa rica.
the reason is the girls are pronouncing the english word in their language's pronunciation while the chinese boy is translating the meaning into a chinese word, that's why there's a huge difference
I agree. "Dock" is chicken in Korean . Unless fried chicken it's " dock-tee-ghim". But now days I guess they all use English but with Korean accent. ;). And for Japanese isn't it "toriniku"? I don't know Japanese that well but I am a pretty regular at Japanese restaurant and love the language. ;)
not really. Say 司邦奇鲍勃(spongebob), 卡普给克(cupcake),海德风(headphone),您贪兜(nintendo) to Chinese ppl, no one will understand. We didn't use transliteration when importing the word, there's no other way for the boy to say it.
It's half and half I think. There's a lot of words in Japanese that sound like English (e.g ケーキ [keeki] is cake 、ペン [pen] is pen、ドア [doa] is door、アイスクリーム [aisukuriimu] is ice cream、ホワイトボード [howaitoboodo] is whiteboard, etc.) It really just depends what words are chosen I guess.
Coca Cola's Chinese translation is excellent. Not only does the pronunciation sound similar, but the Chinese also explains the drink's characteristics. Coca is pronounced kekou(write as 可口 in Chinese which means cool and tasty .cola is pronounced (write as 可乐)kele in Chinese and it means to be very happy. So cocacola's Chinese word for coca is not only a good transtranslation of English but also an explanation of the drinking is cool tasty, and made people happy .
A lot of times Chinese don't translate the entire foreign word by sound coz it would be meaningless in Chinese, and would also sound like nonsense in Chinese. So we would rather create names that are both meaningful and still carry parts of the foreign word's sound. 星巴克 is basically 星buck --> Starbucks Coca-cola could have been 扣卡扣拉. But it's just nonsense and it's probably never gona sell well. So they went with 可口可樂, which means delicious & cheerful. 小甜甜布蘭妮 is basically sweet heart Britney. Probably coz she's America's sweet heart!? 艾薇兒, like they said in the video sounds like eyewear --> Avril. Many Asian people can't pronounce V so they pronounce it with W. Plus 艾薇兒 sounds prettier and like an actual Chinese nickname. 波派 = bopai --> Popeye. But more often times 大力水手, meaning the mighty sailor. Never heard of pie-pie. 海綿寶寶 means sponge baby, in which 寶寶 (baobao) sounds moderately similar to Bob. Spongebob is obviously not an innocent baby but it just sounds cuter.
Thank you for this comment, it's very interesting. I'm currently learning chinese for my girlfriend's family. She's chinese and I wanna be able to communicate with them.
Can I ask u , what is the beat way to learn Chinese !! Best app or site or anything, which Chinese should I Learn?? I am willing to start but I can't find the way to it
+imBloodyDove I think it depends where you're from. I've heard it called Joker in Chinese. They usually used the English proper noun rather than just calling him a joker/clown.
+pianomusician4life I'm from Shanghai and I know that people like mixing Chinese with some English words. It's their fashion, but not Chinese. And "joker" is not found in a Chinese dictionary.
I do know that, but I think they were referring to the name of the character. His name the Joker. If they were referring to the noun as someone who jokes, they would maybe use "clown".
+The World of Dave데이브 Pls pls pls pls. I beg you with all my heart, can you make more videos no matter what kind of if at least Erina is there? and Chae Heesun? People wanna see Erina a lot! All my friends fell in love with her, but I fell in love with her the most! and i've never seen any beings cuter then her. And most people fake being cute, but Erina is so amazing. So real . So Funny. So interesting. SOOOOOOOOOOO DEADLY CUTE !!!!!!! UGH Using youtube for almost a decade and this is the first time I've found a person here...... no no... on the whole internet. who is so cute! GAAAAAARRRRRR It drives me crazy that I fell in love with a being that I will never see in my life with my own eyes :'(
The problem there is that...the localization in Japanese and Korean of English words is taking their pronunciations first, like Chicken = 치킨(Chi kin) = チキン(Chi kin), while in Chinese, we take the meanings first, like Chicken => Fried Chicken = 炸(zha2, Fried) 鸡(ji1, Chicken), leads to a strong divergence from Japanese, Korean and English. Also we have similar words as well, like McDonald in the video, 麦当劳(Mai4 Dang1 Lao2) was actually firstly taken in Cantonese from Hongkong with 麦(Mak)当(Dong)劳(Lau), does that sounds more similar to McDonald?
It's true that Chinese, except some Cantonese words are localized correspondingly from their pronunciations, localized most of the English words by their meanings, yet, I believe that for most of Chinese, especially with a logosyllabic writing system, will understand the concept of a word better if it's translated according to its meaning rather than its sound. In Chinese there are already characters representing the meanings of "fried" and "chicken", then why in this world shall Chinese people come up with a new whatever phrase just for translating English word "Fried Chicken"? Doesn't that sound strange instead? Yet like you say, "Shauteintein Bulaini" is really what the hell even for Chinese people, but those are really rare examples, and it shouldn't be judged by those whatever minority words.
+Tashi Scarlet right! I thought something big different what chinese guy saying is came from the meanings. like sponge>海綿 . it's really interesting. korean and japanese letters express the sound. but chinese letters were made to express meanings of something, so I think chinese are accustomed to changing foreign expression more than two others.

+pianomusician4life I thought that was the joker in the pokers. What ever. Never mind.

Actually most of the Chinese translations are based on word meanings, so it's quite natural to pronounce differently.

Shuo Cheng chiken 就是炸鸡啊
김금봉 炸鸡是一道菜,一种鸡肉的做法而已。鸡肉是鸡肉,炸鸡是炸鸡
炸雞的英文是fried chicken
在韩文炸鸡是chicken
I just realised that they were playing Boy in Luv in the background when they were pronouncing BTS.
Jesslyn Wu thank you so much, I just looked through all the comments to see what the song was!
DarkAlix1 It's fine! 😁
Jesslyn Wu They were playing I Got A Boy when they're pronouncing Girls Generation. Also there was Toxic when they're pronouncing Britney Spears.
I think they're playing the songs of the singers they're pronouncing

Edit:
Y’all I don’t understand Japanese- 💀 THANKS FOR THE LIKESSSS
不理解很正常,因为汉语有独特性,外来语有但是不多
@@苏卡达-o9c 应该说中国的外来语都在地化了,因为我们不是拼读文字,我们必须做出改变
@@zhangxiangmiao6962 为何要改变??我们是意译,同样的翻译,比如那个韩国快餐店,我们翻成【赛百味】,你品,细品,这种翻译是不是特别不错。
でも中国語は文字が多すぎて他の国の人が習うには難しいです。
I had stroke seeing Chinese letters
+Tashi Scarlet you are hong kong guy?
+yuen tung cheung actually, nope. I'm not from Hong Kong.
