That looks delicious! A very interesting take on a traditional Nova Scotian dish! I'm from the Valley/South Shore and the hodge podge I'm used to is actually a soup 😶 and not a chowder or stew consistency, but I know of the controversy surrounding the dish. I will certainly have to try this out! 😊 Pairing it with the Haddock is a nice touch.
Perfect timing - I was scrolling for a new recipe 😊 and great to see Douglish without his ball cap 🥰 the last time I was in the restaurant, I wondered who the tall handsome man was - it was Hatless Doug 😍
Renee - that hodge podge is absolutely fantastic - I made it tonight with the haddock and omg I don’t think I have made anything soooo good - used your lemon trick and kosher salt when needed and could hardly stop saying how gorgeous it was long enough to eat it - the radishes are a touch of brilliance. Yum yum yum. Thank you. From Lunenburg cottaging in Shelburne. What a treat!! Incroiable!!
I made this yesterday, and it was deeeelish! I usually add lemon to everything, but I used a generous amount of bobal wine from Spain, which was so zingy and fresh, I felt like it didn’t need it! I added a bunch of fresh dill in at the end. SO good
I love seeing the regional cooking that you do. I have only had one visit to the Halifax area but I felt a real affinity for NS and this recipe felt like coming home (even though I am from North Carolina.) Looking forward to the next video already.
I'm dying here, as a Maritimer - the quintessential hodge podge fancied up! Absolutely love this modern, simple take and paired with the haddock. I will DEFINITELY be trying this and battling my sister against her recipe of HP!
Love your idea of this Hodge-Podge vegetables…..at the Truro market many years ago I got a recipe for Hodge-Podge Soup…seasonal vegetables in a milky soup base which I add fresh Dill…a staple in my home
There’s absolutely nothing to debate over your hodgepodge. The word hodgepodge means jumble. Using the perfect collection of ingredients changes by season. A recipe is merely a starting point and changes with our creative nature to keep dishes from becoming boring. This version of hodgepodge is so not boring. To this there should be no debate. Cheers from a growling tummy in Vancouver eh!
Your hodge podge (my keyboard typed hidge pidge which funnily enough works too) looks amazing and I am going to go and get fresh veg immediately and have it for dinner tonight!
Tried it and loved it. Fresh haddock and the rest from the garden. Best meal ever.
Looks tasty I’ll have to try this at home.
This lady is cool 😎. Wish I'd known of the restaurant when i visited Nova Scotia.
I like this version, I want to make a hodge podge now

Lol 😂 It’s not often that he’s hatless outside of the restaurant!
Love your hodge podge, time to mix up a classic and reinvent, love it. Can't wait to try my own version

Thanks Eric! Hope that you get a chance to make it back to Nova Scotia soon!

Let us know how the battle goes! We'd love to here who's victorious!
Parsnips are nice in it too.

I am definitely going to try this recipe! (I've never heard of Hodge-Podge before - it's kind of like a vegetable chowder).
That’s a great comparison. It doesn’t feel quite as rich as chowder but lots of the same characteristics.

Have fun and let us know how it turns out!
Incroiable!!!
I can never get nice thick haddock fillets like that at the supermarket
🙌🏼
I was wondering where you’ve been 🤣
We are back!!
Zero seasoning 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
