      Thank you. These unique craft most probably can be practiced in just few regions where the grow condition for this mushroom is the most suited - kind of trees, mountain elevation, climate conditions etc.

      @thecakeredux 2 роки тому +1

      @@virginiacojocaru I sure hope the climate conditions offer a little bit of wiggle room. I'm cultivating mushrooms and thought it would be a nice addition to also grow some F. Fomentarius.

      @@virginiacojocaru I just got done with basic preparation of this fungus, both to create Amadou and to cultivate it - tomorrow the first clones are going to be put to agar plates. I went into the forest this morning and got myself a range of differently aged and sized specimen to experiment with. I'm letting you know because maybe you'd like the thought that this is happening. Have a nice day!

      @@thecakeredux Thank you for sharing, Isnt takes years for muschroom to grow?

    • @thecakeredux
      @thecakeredux 2 роки тому

      @@virginiacojocaru Yes, usually those fungi grow really slowly. I don't have any experience with cultivating Fomes fomentarius yet and literature is quite scarce, but there are a couple of great resources on the cultivation of Fomitopsis betulina - another parasitic polypore with birch as a host - and they grow very fast in a controlled environment on enriched pasteurized birch dust blocks. Biggest reason why wild polypores grow so slowly is because they only get very few opportunities to actually grow over the year, meanwhile they're in perfect fruiting conditions 24/7 in a controlled environment. And if it doesn't work, there's always the option to obtain birch logs and inoculate them with lab-grown mycelium (growing the mycelium is very straight forward for almost all fungi and can be done with a couple of household items) and let nature work its slow wonders.

    "Amadou.. do... do.... two pineapples shake the tree........"
    Seriously fascinating! I ordered one and it arrived today.... I will never take it off.
    I also have in mind seeing if I can collect some myself and make material out of it - at least some tinder, but, hopefully if I can improve my skill to make something useful.
    I'm visualising a little baggie for keeping a flint & striker in it, but I've got broader ambitions - however, I'm not very optimistic that I will succeed.
    I've got a sneaky suspicion that what you boil it in makes a difference. I don't think one can simply buy the ingredients in my country, but I am still researching.
