Without negotiations? How do u think we got Pak to sign the Shimla Agreements? And I hope u know the significance of Shimla Agreements, if not, in short, Kashmir today is a BILATERAL issue due to Shimla Agreements.

@@jitbanerjee5538 first create a mess by going to un then making an agreement again to make it a bilateral issue. But not solving the issue permanently and in '71 war we were at advantage of fixing the issue forever, even in 1965 war we got the same chance. I'm saying again we can tell stories of glory but with empty hands. Learn from China, no empathy towards enemy nation that's all.

@@jitbanerjee5538 the question again is why to keep Kashmir a bilateral issue when you had the capacity and capabilities to integrate it fully at that time. Think realistically. If Kashmir was solved that time, we wouldn't be having problems of terrorism, LOC ceasefire, killing of innocent kashmiri civilians, narco terrorism, China's CPEC, etc. Only a visionary can think about this, rather than singing we have kept Kashmir as bilateral issue? What's the use of keeping it a bilateral issue ?? What have we achieved by keeping it a bilateral issue ?? You need to go and learn geopolitics properly, which our founding fathers of this nation failed to understand

@@indranildas5821 I pointed out the factual error in ur comment. Whether the decision was right or wrong is not what my comment upholds. I don't let my political inclinations change the history of my nation. But if u hate Indira Gandhi, u must also know that she was the one who signed the pact with USSR that ultimately prevented US and UK from attacking India in 1971 war. No govt can take exactly correct decisions all the time and we must keep that in mind.

Pakistan wanted to repeat 1967 Israel strike on Egypt and take Indian air force (IAF) out of the equation in the war. This is strategic thinking and first strike advantage, however intent is different and execution is different and enemy is different and PAF is no Israeli airforce.

    • @MadChad1640

Pakistan implemented the preemptive strike concept in 1965 against pathankot, amritsar and anbala. A textbook strike on the pathankot base was conducted by the PAF which the isrealis studied and perfected it in 1967. Israeli and PAF have almost identical training and tactics since they were always outnumbered. Except pakistan did not have an ally like the US which would fly in resupplies. Not to mention pakistani air force fleet had poor availability after the US impose sanctions on India and Pakistan after 1965. There was only 1 f-86 squadron in East pakistan.

The most uncomfortable part of the book is Kao's time in China. It is the only time when he seems out of his league - dealing with the Chinese. Seemed like Zhao used Nehru & through him Kao to publicise Taiwan's "heinous terrorist activities" before the globe. The entire Indian diplomatic mission there tiptoeing around as well as a lack of intelligence presence in the Chinese mainland seems to suggest that the govt. then had no idea how to manage it's relationship with the rising behemoth

I have seen you're video but I have another view point -
We all know through Field Marsall Sam Mankeshaw disagreement with PM Indria Gandhi on a earlier attack during the summer ,but a winter attack as passes would be covered with snow block any Chinese threat and the rivers in the East would be at lower levels to allow crossings and soil not flooded for tanks to move through .
The Indian Air Force bases attacked by Pakistan Air force on the evening of 3rd December 1971 -
We all know in the western sector the targets were the Indian Airbases of Amritsar, Ambala, Agra, Awantipur, Bikaner, Halwara, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Pathankot, Bhuj, Srinagar and Uttarlai and air defence radars at Amritsar and Faridkot. East I know Kalikunda and Bagdogra in Bengal were attacked by the PAF .You've given a lot of credit to RAW ,they did play an important part in formation of Bangladesh
It's also a little known fact the SOVIETS then flew the Tupolev Tu-126 Moss AWACS with Soviet crew where the IAF was aware of the PAF aircrafts

I disagree strongly as India did not take any preemptive action to lay a trap. It was an intelligence victory not a trap.

Nitin, was watching a talk by Yuri Bezemnov where he hints at large role played by him as part of the KGB in the subversion tactics employed to work towards the formation of Bangladesh. Could you shed some light on the role USSR played beyond backing india militarily wrt the american threats?
This is the video where he briefly talks about the role he played in india as part of the KGB - ua-cam.com/video/Y9TviIuXPSE/v-deo.html

Over and over again it appears to be the case that race, language, and culture is far stronger than religion. Any religion. And Islam is no exception. And the sheer irony is that after Bengalis got their freedom from Pakistan, a fanatical Islamic movement like the Taliban has taken hold in Bangladesh in recent decades. Quite ironic.

What was the use of winning 1971war
    1. Bangladesh is now muslim country
    2. Kashmir still occupied by Pak and China.
India once again fell into chinese trap.. with troops on border for more than 2 years now...

It looks pathetic when we wallow in a 50-year old glorious event while being slapped tightly by China in the present. In fact, we now dare not attack even Pakistan because their possession of nuclear arms has nullified our supremacy over them in conventional weaponry. So much for our strategic military thinking.

Indhira Gandhi. She made it happen. Don't see such overwhelming victory for India under any other leader. Lost to China under Nehru/Shastri, recent wars were concluded by American intervention. Indhira Gandhi was asked to stand down by Nixon and Kissinger, she asked asked them to take a walk. This guy chose to leave the key players out due to political bias. Downvoted.

Pls cover all the bases. You must respect the history and keep in the back of your mind that half-truth is a lie.
1)India lost on a submarine. INR Kirpan I guess. don't remember the name for sure
    2) India had air superiority in the East is not right. USA had provided Pak with the best available fighter jets at that time.
I was hoping you mention these points so that fellow Indians know the lesser-known facts. BTW, I am an Indian
