RIP Anita Pointer. Saw them live, front row, two sets at Humboldt State back when there were four Pointers. They had Carmen Maranda-style hats (fruit piled up). And at house parties in Oakland THIS is what people danced to. Simply fantastic and unforgettable!
PRIVILEGED to have seen these beautiful women from the home front live in living color --- their style was incredible! This album was a must have after Yes We Can Can and it took a special place in the front of my music rack (remember those racks) with their hip cover art HIGH HEEL TENNIS SHOES! They had to be the center of attention! I think I moved Aretha's Greatest Hits chain chain chain album to the back...the one coming down the stairs in the red dress haha Wow those were some fun days!!
I love these ladies! The 80s were amazing!! Wish we could go back! The performance was just on American Soul on BET! Yes, we can make it!! Sending ❤️❤️🙏🙏
The guy who owned the Attic was on one of these sites recently explaining the hanging nooses and it's too bad none of us thought to ask him about a DVD.:-( Believe his name was Tom and if I see it again I will post this question to him.
Ruth is my favorite because I identify with her; I'm also the oldest of my group (I sing with 2 of my younger brothers) and once upon a time, we were also 4 siblings singing together. I also identify with Ruth, because her lead vocal on "Automatic" and other songs have been often mistaken for a male and conversely, I have sometimes had my singing voice mistaken for that of a female (I often do the high harmonies in our songs) and of course! we all take turns on lead singing duties.
@rickw1100 - If so I haven't been able to find it. That's the only reason I posted it from my old videotape to here, thought it was too great not to be seen.
When The Pointer Sisters hit the scene it was OVA!! We wanted to dress like them with the long old fashion dresses and marcel hair waves. My mom was like why "ya'll wanna look like grandmom?" We were fly and stylish, couldnt tell us nothing!!
Ain't Nobody like the Pointer Sisters. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.....Real Fans Know They Should Have A Place With All The Great Singers.....Yes They Can Can....
Thanks so much for this video. I was lucky enough to see them up close and personal performing in Greenwich Village back in the day, and you are right, THEY ROCKED!!! Funky as they wanna be. (BTW, you're telling the truth about styling the hair and clothes, a la 40's!! I loved it, so glad they came!)
Well she had no problem at ALL singing lead and background seamlessly...no problem at ALL and you gotta consider she didn't have to do that on this song when it first dropped because Bonnie was there. She's actually singing Bonnie's background part and her own lead like it ain't NOTHING!!!

The Bass is so funky fresh groove on!

That transition between the two songs is sick af. I just wild out watching this.
Only The Pointers can make that seem effortless 🤎🤎🤎🎼🤗😍😍😍🎼
I’m late as hell, but hell yeah. 🎼🖤🎼
@@DiabolikalFollikles Still applies 🤣🖤

R.I.P Anita. Let's pray for Ruth, there's only one Pointer Sister left.
Just plain awesome...
Not only were The Pointer Sisters phenomenal singers they were also fantastic songwriters as How Long and other classics prove!

Real Music and Real Diva Sista's, so Legendary!!!.........R.I.P......June Pointer.
I'm surprised it wasn't Anita who wanted to go solo. She seems like she could have been one of the great female R&B legends on her own.
The Pointer Sisters are fantastic :)

He so shy
GOT CRUSH ON THEM! BUT ESPECIALLY JUNE
