Well, the title does state “Soft Robotic *Manufacturing*”, so it’s not a surprise they didn’t snow the final product working I suppose. They did show the manufacturing process in detail though, which is what the video was supposed to be about so they accomplished their goals with this video I guess
@@donfenaroli3650 actually it just does a little dance, a robot dance. The truth is we can say it does anything and no one will know any better because they didn't show it working. 😭
@@donfenaroli3650 so that tube is for a peristaltic pump? What's the reason for using it, instead of just pumping air with a compressor and controlling it with valves?
I found myself right at the start wondering what is a magnetic dome actuator and how does it work, that wasn't explained so I don't get how the bellows interact with the magnets or what this thing does. and no demonstration of any kind. what's the point?
Pretty pointless to see how something is made without knowing how its used. its like watching how a bicycle is made without ever seeing one before. the whole time your wondering "what the heck is this thing. what would i do with it?" do i eat cereal with it? is it a musical instrument?
Cool casting process, and good documentation! I imagine similar molds could be used for all kinds of multifunctional soft devices. I wish I know what this one does though.
Nice process :). Have you thought the possibility of making the whole part out of TPU 85A with a 0.2mm nozzle FDM3D printer? I think you can encapsulate the magnngets mid print with some gcode comands.
I'm assuming there's a separate molding process for it. But here's my question - what's it made out of that it doesn't inhibit the cure (or bond to) the silicone injected on top of it? Most rubbers do one or the other. @Michael Bell?
Cool crazy complicated mold. Was bummed I didn’t get to see what it does or how it works. Kinda frustrated I watched only to not know what the hell the this thing does.
Cool video, but I was really disappointed that we didn't get to see it working.
Same :(
extremely disappointed here
Big same

I hope there will be a demonstration video of this actuator in the future.
You and me both! Same as everyone else in the comment section :)
I have no clue to WTH this is or does but it's damn fascinating 😂
It's like a willy, it goes long it goes short

It might bend. One way when the pump rotates clockwise and the other way when rotation reverses

maybe a follow up video of the robot moving, nice work
Very good work a thorough job. I will visit. Thank you for sharing your work.
That is such an awesome mold setup that you have. Tremendous amount of work that went into this.. Great job!
Oh hello
Can you show how it works when completed?
I don’t know what this is, I don’t know what it does, by I sure did enjoy watching the creation process
any plan of posting the working model??
I found myself right at the start wondering what is a magnetic dome actuator and how does it work, that wasn't explained so I don't get how the bellows interact with the magnets or what this thing does. and no demonstration of any kind. what's the point?
I think we're all on the same page here. If making us curious was the main objective, then the R&D paid off.
Very interesting process.
But no video of it working!?
Dudeeeee why would you not show it working!!!
make a folow up vid of it moving please
It has many insertions, I like that
can only imagine it as hugely not cheap
Where do you get those mixing nozzles? I can never find ones of that size on their own without buying some sort of kit
Why does it feel like I am watching the "how to make a plumbus" video
What the fuck is this thing?
Yes, this video has inspired me to make soft "robotics" at home
I am blown away by the complexity of this molding process, so much research must have went into each step
All that wasted silicone, all those almost-perfect unusable molds...mad respect.
So silicon from second injection actually adheres to the cured silicon from the first biggest injection ?
A bit like in Rick and Morty - the plumbus. What the fuck did I just watch?
There has to be a much more difficult way to do this...
Coffee. Through the nose.
Great vid! Is there a rainbow gay version for 'big softies'? lol.
Pretty pointless to see how something is made without knowing how its used.
its like watching how a bicycle is made without ever seeing one before.
the whole time your wondering "what the heck is this thing. what would i do with it?"
do i eat cereal with it? is it a musical instrument?
An then you get a perfectly regular Plumbus
All that and then not show it working. LAAAAME
What's it do?
Most complex soft robot molding process so far, but it seems promising.
no demo? Subbed anyways, lets see it!
what is this purple material?
Beautiful engineering as always Michael. Cool to see you on YT :)
Cool casting process, and good documentation! I imagine similar molds could be used for all kinds of multifunctional soft devices. I wish I know what this one does though.
Absolutely beautiful mold design. Do you ever have issues with air pockets forming around the wire mesh?
Looks like a Milka commercial
we demand a demo of what this can do
I wanna see this integrated with the hydraulic pressure system robot
do you think you could have sped it up any faster? things went so fast, had no idea wtf was going on!
I really want to see how it works and what the magnetic dome actuators do.
you didn't show us it working! D:
i'm gonna subscribe because i want to see what it does.
Nice process :). Have you thought the possibility of making the whole part out of TPU 85A with a 0.2mm nozzle FDM3D printer? I think you can encapsulate the magnngets mid print with some gcode comands.
That looks like, easily, 20A silicone. No way TPU comes close.
Great video, I would love to see it in action!
Esperaba una demostración al final, que decepción.
Please how does this work what does it do? Make another video of it working plz!! This is an amazing process for one actuator :)
Neat
Quite interesting, but what the heck is it for? Looks like a vario oscillator for a Turbo Encabulator.
Great work! I have two questions: 1. how do you make the softcore? 2. why don't you use wax instead of softcore? It's easier to remove.
Not OP, but I think the softcore is better in this case if it's reusable, and it won't leave any traces of wax behind after melting it out.
I'm assuming there's a separate molding process for it. But here's my question - what's it made out of that it doesn't inhibit the cure (or bond to) the silicone injected on top of it? Most rubbers do one or the other. @Michael Bell?
its so interesting to see how far soft robots came!
Down voted because you missed the biggest part of the video and that is of course, to see it WORKING!! :(
how did you get the soft cores to demould? not silicone, or wax?
Did it fail? I didnt get to see the actuation
Very Cool I'm looking for consultants to help me with a very similar idea I have developed
sex robots are slowly becoming reality
How can a video be so satisfying to watch and yet leave us with so many questions:
What is this?
Why is this?
Who him is?
No idea how I arrived here or what this is for but wow
and you don't show it working? what a tease :(
3:14 what material is the soft-core made out of? Silicone would have fused to itself during the cure, so I guess something else?
I use Tin and Platinum based silicone's for resin molds and those 2 wont bond to one another so perhaps this process it something similar .
I always wondered how plumbuses got made.
I need to find some people to help me build some soft robots
Amazing but where is actual robot in action?
И для чего это ?
What a great video - thanks for sharing the process. I'm sure that took some time to develop. Please show the unit working if possible :)
A masterclass in silicone moulding. It's just next level.
Cool crazy complicated mold. Was bummed I didn’t get to see what it does or how it works. Kinda frustrated I watched only to not know what the hell the this thing does.
So cool to see the manufacturing process for the new Plumbus!
Very nice design. Thanks for sharing. Where do you source your silicone?
I watched the whole video I have one question what is it?
I wanna make peanut butter do tricks.
nice sweet holly mammmaaa!!!!
Please demonstrate functionality of actuator
Or perhaps a link to a video where it’s being used ?
can you pls show how this stuff work?
I want more video from u. Thx
I dont understand , what is it?
The making of a plumbus
Silicon is truly a wonder material, isn't it.
What is this?
What's it do
The mesh around the magnet is a really good idea.
IMPREGNATE, SQUIRT, MASSAGE, SOFTCORE! I didn't know robotics was so sexual! Unh! LMAO!
Actually a lot of work for one actuator.
nice, how about a demo ?
Are the mold parts all SLA printed? Or are they milled?
this was amazing! thanks for sharing this rare knoledge!
Und wo werden so welche Geräte eingesetzt?
How it's work?
This was amazing. I guess you could incorporate all kinds of thing in silicone. Now I wonder about coils and magnets.
Amazing.👏👏👏👏
link?
I want to work there. That looks like a blast.
amazing!
too manual intensive
Sex bot... 26% done!!!
Disappointed
