We have not done testing against ants. I did have a persimmon farmer in CA that used the BugBarrier Tree Band® to prevent ants and he said it trapped some but slowed many so that as they emerged through the top of the fiber the birds would pick them off and eat them. That might also be the case on your citrus trees.
Is this in any way a danger to birds like nuthatches that crawl up and down the bark feeding? Can they get stuck in it?
