You always look very elegant. I had learn a lot from you. I got the idea about the blouse folding the sleves. I bought a white blouse and fold the sleves. I got so many complement s. People said you look very beautiful. Thank you again. For you r ideas.
You are not dowdy!! I did an exercise in Mexico on a retreat where you focus on what you love about your problem area. I thought about how much I don’t like the baggy skin on my stomach. Well, they suggested writing love on your problem area and think about all the amazing things it has done for you. I thought about how my stomach carried two babies. Fast forward a few months... Now, I’m jogging outside in the daylight in a sports bra!! Tummy exposed, and not feeling self conscious. My point is, maybe you start saying I love my clothes. They protect me, keep me warm, enable me to comfortably teach these amazing young minds.. I love my style. It enables me to shape these beautiful humans. And... wait and see what unfolds... (but it won’t hurt to be proactive as well) Erin xo
Erin, this is great advice. I believe in "age-less" dressing...it really is about confidence, comfort, and focusing on simplicity. I am glad we are living in a time where women can express themselves at any age. Thanks!
Notes like these are my favorite! My goal has always been to serve as a style guide or helper, if I’m achieving that.. I am a happy camper!! Thanks, Pam!!
Great video! I really enjoy everything you do! I struggle with my age and changing body but still love clothes and style tips.. and you bring a lot of enjoyment and great information (even though I can’t pull off everything you still can). I love your home and your style
This is such a sweet comment! Thank you so much, Debbie!! I would suggest you watch my Style Reboot Series if you haven't already! Here's a link to all the videos: ua-cam.com/video/zUxjqJAfdPg/v-deo.html Hope these help you! Erin xo
Great tips, my favorite is, not to overdo everything on ourselves, like crazy hair, crazy nails, everything too elaborate, I am a big believer, that the most effortlessly chic women look like they just threw something simple but awesome on, grabbed a great bag, and out the door they went...!
I am 41 and I have been a little bit lost for a while in terms of fashion. I was so busy working and with life that wasn't a priority. Thank you so much for this channel. You are really motivating me to get back on track.
I love comments like these! Thank you so much for sharing this, Nina! If you haven't already, make sure you watch my Style Reboot Series! It might be helpful to you! Here's the link! ua-cam.com/video/zUxjqJAfdPg/v-deo.html Thanks again, Nina! Erin xo
Hello Erin. Thank you for sharing these tips, especially #1-get out of your comfort zone. Previously I wore only skinny jeans and hated sneakers but I recently challenged myself to try high-waisted Levi’s and a pair of lifestyle sneakers and ended up loving both.
You are the cutest! You are totally fine. There is actually a logo trend happening right now. I am only suggesting that if you are worried about looking like you are trying too hard, you might want to go easy on them.
Love your video great ideas I wanted to know what kind of shoe would look good with a chambray button front dress and if you could do a video on denim or chambray dresses for summer thanks
Hi Erin, thanks for this video. I tend to struggle with the confidence issue. I’m 63, so I want to dress in younger styles, but there’s a fine line in dressing too young. I also have lost thirty pounds since January and I think I spent so long not wanting to draw attention to myself, I still have a hard time convincing myself to take a chance. For instance, I bought a trendy, straw fedora hat that’s so popular now, but I haven’t worn it yet.
Excellent advise Erin!!! I am a huge believer in your skin rule! I find for me at almost 60 less is more! My upper arms, knees and above the knee aren't what it use to be.........LOL, My personal rule is to not go sleeveless anymore, flapping underarms are so unattractive to me!!! I say show the shoulders! Also, I like to keep my dresses and shorts at the knee. I think if you only show the parts of your body that are still in good shape people see what looks great and assume all the rest that's covered looks just as good! So many times I have seen gorgeous women showing off a lot on top that might even look amazing, and then having a way to short skirt makes her looks a bit trashy. Again this is just my personal opinion. Mature women showing off old knee's and thighs give her age away instantly! So I say unless you look like Jane Fonda or Christie Brinkley cover it up!
Ontrend50 Sandy Alderson Oh my gosh, I agree with you on only showing your best parts! If we could only all look as great as Jane Fonda! There is a woman in the town I live in who dresses like a teenager and actually looks fantastic from behind until she turns around and you see how old she is and it's hard not to gasp out loud. I see her a lot. Oh boy...She's gotta be in her late 70's if not older. Sad! If she only knew how to dress her age, I bet she would look amazing.
I couldn't agree more with you on these tips. I have been watching your videos for a while now, and have taking all your styling tips into consideration. I have never felt more comfortable in doing so.
You are amazing and truly relatable. I am 56 and consider myself a "cool" mom. I love your tips and I love being confident and comfortable. Thank you for helping me feel so great!!!!
Yay for cool moms! No sense looking dowdy just cause the kids suck the life out of you. 😂 The struggle to stay stylish is real, but it is so important for us all when it comes to preserving our sanity. 😉
Found your channel today, there are so many but you are my favorite !!!! You gave me so much inspiration today, it’s great !!!! Where did you find this cool necklace I love it !!!!!
Of course!! I uploaded my catalog picks on the site: busbeestyle.com/2018/06/26/nordstrom-anniversary-sale-2018-catalog-picks/ I will also create a catalog video and talk more about coverage plans. Hopefully next week!
These are great tips and are very in sync with my personal style but I'd like to add, I think it's important for women to feel they can wear anything they want at any age. Don't limit yourself and your personal style based on what other people may or may not be thinking. If piling all the trends and logos on at once make you feel good, then do it! Life's too short so live it as boldly as you want! I will always appreciate (and compliment) other women's style even if different from my own. Let's support each other and not judge. ❤️
Hello Gorgeous I always say... and reiterated in this video, wear what you feel comfortable and confident in! That said, if you are going for an understated look... I would go easy on the logos. If you wearing a lot of logos you are likely not going for understated! Make sense? Thanks for watching!!
Busbee Style yes, I understood that. You're always good about saying wear what you want. I didn't mean to imply that you did not. I just felt inspired to comment my personal feelings about fashion and fashion "rules" in general.
Hi sweet girl... I think if you wanna wear logos from head to toe ... have at it, but if you want to look trendy and understated... probably limit to one. 💗
Correct me if I’m wrong but I consider dressing monochromatic matching and it seems to never go out of style! It’s such a regal look! I agree to much skin is a big BIG faux pas. As always this video is spot on!
You're correct! I love an all white or all black look! I talk about both in a recent video on how to look expensive that you can watch here: ua-cam.com/video/dvuGXg7xjIg/v-deo.html Thanks for watching! Erin xo
I LOVE your videos! Speaking of effortless dressing - I love hats but don't know what to do with them when I wear them. Do I always take the hat off when I am inside say at a party? or shopping? Basically I need to know when to leave the hat on and when to take the hat off. :)
I think you should do what makes you comfortable. If you are going to a party and you want to leave the hat on, leave it on!! Same with restaurants. I know some etiquette folks may say otherwise, but if it is a big part of your look, I say leave it!
Very good tips and advice here Erin.......LOVE those white shoes :) I am 63 and I am all about " not trying too hard ".......so I hear ya on this one.......a look that always works for me is wearing denim, it's such a youthful look for all us gals, but it has to be current denim, not old denim that we have had for many years.......thanks so much girl, wishing you well, take care XO
Awesome tips! The logo overload and tip 5 resonates with me because I bought a brand name purse when it was first released only to find the same thing in Marshall's two years later for 50% less. I felt like an idiot. Since then, I'm mindful of brands, models and value depreciation. As far as tip 5, I wasn't allowed to wear makeup as a teenager and JUST learned how to apply eyeliner without blinding myself LAST YEAR. I will be revisiting this video as I shop for the season as it is very easy to succumb to trendy pitfalls here in NYC. Thanks again!
Orlonda Spencer-Williams you are so funny!! Sounds like you are already understated naturally and might not need help in this area. I love people watching in NYC! So much fashion inspiration!!
Happy Birthday Fifty Plus! I always enjoy seeing your smiling face in your thumbnail image! I can't help but smile back at cha! PS. The key to successful aging is to pay as little attention to it as possible. : ) You ignore it very well!
Hi! I enjoy your videos very much. I turned 40 this year, and still living in jeans and shirts... every time I wanna switch to something different, it just doesn’t work! I’d love to see a video where you share styling tips for those who don’t feel comfortable with a more elevated look, but can be incorporated on an everyday routine. (Btw, I work in construction so my every day uniform is jeans, shirts and boots)
Hi Elsa! I'm so glad you like the videos! You might like my video on how to style a basic white tee! ua-cam.com/video/O8T8y9hM-rQ/v-deo.html Thank you so much for watching, Elsa! Erin xo
Thank you so much Erin for your video, I am a “French woman”, and would like to appear to be one of those you refer to ;-) Think your advice are all good, especially the one about mixing high and low : in French, we are used to saying that, if you just stick to high end, then you look like “a Christmas tree”, which really is not a compliment ! I totally agree with you, especially about choosing one part of your body to show, and the rest to be discreet about. Thank you so much again ! 😊🇫🇷
Great tips, thanks! I have a question about what to wear under a top similar to yours...(love your eyelet BTW!)...my blouse has a similar white eyelet on the top until just above the bustline and then a sheer-ish solid white. I don’t want the straps of a bra to show but then do I need to wear a cami to account for the sheer-ish-ness of the bottom?
Holly Arnold did you catch my bra video? I would wear a cami or tank underneath or try nude bra and see if it shows through. // The Best Bras & Panties! ua-cam.com/video/VEixv1f4kEE/v-deo.html
Great tips, Erin. Specially love the tip about not exposing all of your skin at once. Much sexier and “high-end” to show just a bit at a time. Your tips on nails/hair and makeup are spot-on. Good job, Girl Friend!
Thanks so much, Sandra! I always get nervous with videos like these because even if I’m offering guidelines it suggestions, there is so much push back. My goal is always to help and I get this question all the time about wanting to try trends without looking like you are trying too hard. Not everyone cares about this, but many women do. Thank you for your sweet note!!
Yay so happy you loved the slides! This is my favorite lipstick by Charlotte Tilbury in the shade called Bitch Perfect! Here's the link: rstyle.me/n/c6gtth58an Thanks for watching, Suzanne! Erin xo
Website and blog look beautiful Erin! I see your Nordstrom Anniversary Sale picks are out there - you’re on it girl, and I love it. Proud to say I successfully predicted most of your picks!! Lol Keep up the FAB work! 💕💕
Hi dear,I would like to ask an ideas on what to wear on graduation day,I'm petite and 39 yrs. Old,graduation will be on April 01,2019..thank u so much..I'm a fan from Philippines with love..
Laura Lea Frederick I wouldn’t think about these as rules... these are simply guidelines to help you look more understated, if that is what you want. Some people do not want understated. They go big! Maybe that’s you?? 😘😘
I'm so glad matching is in and so are jumpsuits. I've invested in quite a few of them in different styles and I get so many compliments when I wear them! I haven't spent a fortune either (Poshmark and Mercari have saved me)! And BTW... My closet redo is almost finished!!! I got my last box of hangers in from Amazon last night, so I will be emailing you pictures soon! It's already making me feel like a million bucks... THANK YOU again for that Series! 🤗🤗🤗
Yay! To matchy matchy. Many of my favorite Busbee Style looks are those you showed. Those all red looks are insane on you! The yellow is too. Love to wear the same shade myself, Winter white especially. I do struggle with bags and shoes. Taupe and grey eeks. Don't know the secret to effortless in that category while taking 45 minutes on a decision. ; ) PS. doesn't that engineer know we are discussing fashion? I think he can pull his little train off to the side until we are done. : )
I need some help with this. I'm going to burning man in August for a friends 50th. I want to look good & comfortable but not like i'm trying to be a teenager. But I also don't want to look too frumpy.
I just looked this up and it looks like ANYTHING goes here... like anything. The theme is robot, so maybe fun metallic booties or peep toe booties, denim shorts, long white shirt dress (sheer) worn open, with white cami or tee and a cool metal choker. Drama, theme appropriate with coverage.
ooo yes i like the idea of metal chokers, and then simple comfortable outfits. Really like the idea of the open shirt dress and the metallic shoes. i guess some blade runner esque vibe could be good. Just don't want to look like "mutton dressed as lamb" as my grandmother would say!!! I was also thinking about having an a line dress made in that two sided sequin material. thank you for the starting point.
Pointed toe shoes for women, like me, who have wider feet (mine got wider after kids 😔) is a game changer- makes your feet (at least mine, look more narrow/elongated/classy vs. my rounded shoes) - the only thing is, of course, you must find comfortable ones that have some give to the material around the wide parts and not so rigid that it cuts in! Also remember, leather will break in too 😁 -Just a tip from a wide feet momma lol 😂
Mari Mari I have wide feet too! Mine definitely changed after having kids. It has been challenging to find stylish wide shoes, and even when you do find it, they look like granny shoes or too young?!😣😝🤦 I need to get into the wide width shoe making business!😃😄🤔
Ker I’ve said the same thing! Collab? Lol 😂 I buy most of my shoes now for my wide feet at TJ Maxx! You have to grab them before they are gone! You can always return if they don’t fit well after you’ve thought about them- also, I try to go shoe shopping early in the day when my feet are not swollen from all day Mom life and don’t hesitate to try half a size or even one size up! I’m usually a 7.5 but always gravitate to an 8 but found one shoe that was 8.5 that gave me so much room! I’ve also bought a little shoe strap/purse strap hole puncher for moments when the straps are too loose! Much luck shoe shopping!
I found a few websites that sells wide shoes, but haven't tested them out. I wear a 7 now. Before I was a 6! Torrid sells smaller size online only. Asos sells wide shoes too. Target started selling them, but it's only available online. I'm so in for a collab!😄😃😉 I doubt the makers of these brands actually have wide feet!😒 They can't get it right!☹😔
Dee B I purchased mine a couple of months ago- it was handheld and found it on amazon listed as “Easy Leather Hole Punch Pliers for Watch Bands Sandal & Purse Straps” under “Jewelry” category... I just checked and they are no longer in stock but if you search around online and even craft supplies- something may pop up- handheld or some other type of tool.
Love it 😍 Question?? How can someone with say $100 buy a complete outfit n look stylish n trendy n where would b best place to get it? ( 3 thrift stores in a 100 mile radius n no stylish clothes at either)
You always look very elegant. I had learn a lot from you. I got the idea about the blouse folding the sleves. I bought a white blouse and fold the sleves. I got so many complement s. People said you look very beautiful. Thank you again. For you r ideas.
I love your videos! I am a dowdy 55 year old teacher and you are making me feel like I can do this!!!! Thanks!
You CAN DO THIS Lori!!
Erin, this is great advice. I believe in "age-less" dressing...it really is about confidence, comfort, and focusing on simplicity. I am glad we are living in a time where women can express themselves at any age. Thanks!

Thanks for watching! Erin xo
Hello Erin. Thank you for sharing these tips, especially #1-get out of your comfort zone. Previously I wore only skinny jeans and hated sneakers but I recently challenged myself to try high-waisted Levi’s and a pair of lifestyle sneakers and ended up loving both.
That is SO helpful!! Thank you for sharing this.. maybe you will help inspire other women to step out of their comfort zone (pun intended!) 😉💗
Great advice! Last weekend I wore a tee & belt w/ the same logo...eeks, but now I know better. Thank you for your video!
You always come out with wonderful tips . Thanks again. Keep up ur work.
My upper arms, knees and above the knee aren't what it use to be.........LOL,
My personal rule is to not go sleeveless anymore, flapping underarms are so unattractive to me!!! I say show the shoulders!
Also, I like to keep my dresses and shorts at the knee. I think if you only show the parts of your body that are still in good shape people see what looks great and assume all the rest that's covered looks just as good!

These are great tips and are very in sync with my personal style but I'd like to add, I think it's important for women to feel they can wear anything they want at any age. Holly Arnold did you catch my bra video? I would wear a cami or tank underneath or try nude bra and see if it shows through. // The Best Bras & Panties! ua-cam.com/video/VEixv1f4kEE/v-deo.html
Busbee Style Thank you! ❤️
Great tips as always Erin. Love from NZ 💜
Erin is epic. Her videos transcend time.
Loved your tips!!
Thanks, Janice!!
Great advices and video. ❤️
Can you please tell the name of the masks you buy sorry I can't find it . Thanks !!!!

Hi dear,I would like to ask an ideas on what to wear on graduation day,I'm petite and 39 yrs. Old,graduation will be on April 01,2019..thank u so much..I'm a fan from Philippines with love..
That is a great idea! Will it be an indoor or outdoor graduation? xo
nice makeup!
Pretty sure I break some of these :) But I do it with confidence...haha. Love your channel and the website is beautiful.
Laura Lea Frederick I wouldn’t think about these as rules... these are simply guidelines to help you look more understated, if that is what you want. Some people do not want understated. They go big! Maybe that’s you?? 😘😘
I don't think I "go big" but I do think that sometimes I look like I'm trying too hard. :) But I rock it anyway!
Ur my fashion godmother❤❤❤❤
You look awesome in the Red , all eyes on me @ lookout mountain? Breathtaking!
Yay! Congrats, Marti! That’s a big project!! Can’t wait to see it...
Busbee Style - My goal is to have it done by tomorrow since I’m having surgery Friday. So watch for my email the next couple of days! 😁
Great video 😍
Thanks, Nicole! Erin xo
Can you do a video on how to style long (Berrmuda-length) shorts, please?
Great advice 👍🏼💕
Good information.
How about a nutrition/diet video? You look amazing! I'm 57 and only 5' 2" and in good shape at 120 lbs but you just look amazing, please share!!
Great video as always! ❌⭕️
If your confident and living your truth, you can wear anything😊🌻
Couldn’t agree more! These are just guidelines for those interested in trying trends while looking understated.
Stunning girl love your style thank you 💐💄👄👗🍀👠👜
I need some help with this.
P.S. This looks fun! Except the hot desert part...
ooo yes i like the idea of metal chokers, and then simple comfortable outfits.
As awesome as ever!!!
Thanks, Lina! Erin xo
It has been challenging to find stylish wide shoes, and even when you do find it, they look like granny shoes or too young?!😣😝🤦
I need to get into the wide width shoe making business!😃😄🤔
I'm so in for a collab!😄😃😉 I doubt the makers of these brands actually have wide feet!😒 They can't get it right!☹😔
Mari Mari I have the same issue! Never knew there was a strap puncher! I usually use scissors! EEK! Where can I get one ??
Dee B I purchased mine a couple of months ago- it was handheld and found it on amazon listed as “Easy Leather Hole Punch Pliers for Watch Bands Sandal & Purse Straps” under “Jewelry” category... I just checked and they are no longer in stock but if you search around online and even craft supplies- something may pop up- handheld or some other type of tool.
Love it 😍
Question?? How can someone with say $100 buy a complete outfit n look stylish n trendy n where would b best place to get it?
( 3 thrift stores in a 100 mile radius n no stylish clothes at either)
I would look at Zara or ASOS.
Ross, marshalls, tjmaxx, burlington coat factory, clearance sales at macys and nordstroms......you’ve got to devote some time to the “hunt”.
