THANK YOU!!! Pathfinder died on side of interstate in middle of nowhere. While waiting on the tow truck to show up, found this, it was the first video that came up. Set screw was sitting at bottom of distributor assembly. But it back and fired right up. Saved me a huge towing bill for a super simple fix.

Love my 95 Pathfinder VG30 V6, 283,000 miles and still going strong.
I've been watching the video but I don't understand exactly what to do. I am having the exact same problem on my Pathfinder. Already change cables, spark plugs, throttle body cleaning and MAF. The vehicle has no problems, on the road it runs quite well, I have no loss of power either, but only in D or N does it have irregular idling and once the engine has warmed up.
One of the things to check :
Pull ignition cap off and take a close look at ignition rotor set screw ~ common to come loose ~ hope it helps !
Background music is too loud so it's difficult to understand or follow exactly what you're doing

Ok so I was hoping that would b the easy fix but it wasn’t. I was able to drive smoothly in 2nd gear tho and actually use 3rd gear so I’m open to anymore ideas that u may have for me. I think I will try a new rotor button next tho, I didn’t like the look of mine

Desert Car Care oh I am mate. I’ve had it four years now but being on a disability pension I’m at that point on do I spend money trying to get it fixed b4 I open a possible can of worms and end up spending hand over fist. It’s not throwing codes up, so I know that’s not a prob. I’ve had 4 mechanics look at it and can’t find the problem and a auto electrician look at it and no one has found the problem of the misfire. I’d love to ring u but I’m in Australia lol so that won’t work. Thanx for the comeback tho, it’s muchly appreciated. 👍🏼😉
P.s after watching another video on here I’ve gone back to my original thought that it maybe number 2 injector that needs replacing
They probably charged the poor guy 1000 dollars for that job

I tried the same thing but the set rotor screw is sometimes turned opposite way from where i was standing and it was very hard to unscrew it. Next time i turned my car on couple of times and it came back the way its supposed to be , just like in this video. Is there something wrong with my distributor cap, because i have rough idling and my car through code po300? Please help. Thanks in advance
BiHlover80's .. P0300 ~~ sounds like your fighting a misfire. Double check all ignition components.
Desert Car Care .... yas, you're right. I didn't know the meaning of PO300 until yesterday. Even though we have heavy rain and wind day yesturday I've been working on my car to figure out what else needs to be done. Also, I had 6 or 7 error codes since I bought this car 7 days ago. I replaced EGR valve, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, knock sensor, oil change, air filter, bunch of hoses, also, I took of plenum and cleaned idle control valve. All of the mention above were throwing error codes. I now understand what means PO300. I'm still fighting with it. My pathfinder still has a problem . It sputtering, kinda having problem to accelorate and I can't pass 30mph but later slowly I am able to accelerate over 30mph. I will try to disconnect plenum again to check for hoses under the plenum and maybe check the injectors. Definitely PO300 is like 300 things to check before emission/ smog check test. Thank you for replying to my message and if there's anything that I need to check to fix this problem please let me know . I'm doing this myself with limited mechanical knowledge . Once again, thank you for your help.
BiHlover80's .. double check distributor to ensure timing is good to go. Also ensure that firing order is squared away & you don't have crossed ignition wires. Go back to basics here ~~ here for ya. Good luck & stay dry !~Frank

How freely should the distributor shaft spin?
I have a 1998 pathfinder that is showing error codes P0325 and P0301. For about 2 months my car wouldn't start first try, had to wait about 5 minutes before it would finally start up. And randomly my car would seem like it's loosing power, then if i came to a complete stop it would be about 50/50 if it died on me. Now its not starting up at all. I initially replaced my fuel pump, fuel filter and air intake hose thinking that is was regarding those, they needed to be replaced anyway, but nothing will work. I just ordered a Knock sensor and harness for it and am going to replace that. Would you have any ideas on what could be preventing my car to start. Have looked everywhere for answers but haven't found any. Thank you for your time!!!

I know it was 6 months ago, but for those who follow. I had the same problem on mine and it turned out to be a bad connection on the MAF sensor. I would pull over, get out and wiggle it then it would idle and drive fine. Also the O2 sensor can give similar problems. So Frank do you remember what the guys problem was?
I'm having this problem right now with my nissan pathfinder 98. But the set screw is facing in towards the engine where you can't get a screw gun or screw driver to loosen it, if it was a bolt I could use a ratchet
Try to start the vehicle, it'll move. It easier if you have someone watching when you turn it over.

I think it's the injector I just changed my distributer on my qx4 1999 and it starts but sounds like crap in drive and reverse it's ok in park or N have you figured it out I'm about to order my injectors
@Sambo Rambo. Hi yes it's was bad injector seal allowing fuel to flood the cylinder and ultimately killed my cam shaft sensor in the distributor so after that I also did knock sensor while I was there totally worth it. Good luck I drove my truck to arizona from California last week all is well knock on wood

Ignition failure quite common. If the plugs, wires, cap and rotor are older than 60 000 miles ish..more than likely the source ( hard to decipher of course without testing). If you need a great garage , and you are not in our neck of the woods ...I have got an amazing network of good guys and gals across the country...here to help either way...good luck ! --Frank
