Note that this is one of the few songs, you can distinctly hear the three singers in the band. Often they harmonize, but in this song, you hear them individually.
It can’t be stated enough how incredible of a singer songwriter Christine McVie was. Her voice and melodies ARE Fleetwood Mac. It’s why her loss single-handedly took out Fleetwood Mac. Fortunately, she lives on forever through her music.
Christine was (not so secretly) my favorite Mac member. She was the secret sauce tying them all together. Please please please listen to Everywhere, which was the last single from this album, and also sung by McVie.
Christine was the unsung hero of this band. For as much as is made about the Stevie/Lyndsey breakup fueling so many great songs (and it did), look at the tracklisting on their Greatest Hits album: Christine has more songs on it than either of them, maybe not put together, but of the three of them, she was arguably the most successful. Never made a fuss about her own breakup, never slung arrows, and never sought the spotlight. Just stood behind her keyboard and made great music.
Like the person who recommended this, I'm a big Stevie fan. Losing Christine hurts. I don't think she got the appreciation she deserved, at least by me. She was amazing.
So much talent wrapped up in that one band. Each member was a force in their own right. It's hard to pick a favorite when each of them had solid and memorable contributions.
Stevie got a lot of the attention but Christine was the core of Fleetwood Mac. All their voices individually and then in harmony is just fantastic. The video is one of the best ever made. No pomp or circus in the background. Just them, being them, singing as easily as we breathe. I tear up every time I hear this because it takes me back to a time in my life that was very good. Way back before my wife passed away, three years ago today.
Wonderful reaction! I remember falling in love with this when it was released. Fleetwood melodies are sooooo beautiful... And there is definitely something completely magical when Christine, Stevie, and Lindsey harmonize. There's something alchemical and unique between their voices.
The band didn’t play her songs when she wasn’t in the band. I was very happy to see the classic line up of Fleetwood Mac with Christine McVie. Stevie looked so happy to sing with her again.
Salvo, I loved your channel and your genuine effection and respect for music. You know great and iconic music when you hear it. This is iconic song one of the many reasons Fleetwood is Mac is my band. There's no one like them on the planet, and there never will be. This song is mesmerizing and hypnotic. It's addictive and lush. Christine is one of the most inconic singers, songwriters, and musicians in the history of music history. She wrote the majority of all Fleetwood Mac greatest hits. I love Stevie, Lindsey, John, and Mick, but Christine was the glue and anchor of my favorite band. I was and will forever be heartbroken and devastated that she's no longer with us. I have a Christy 60 list of her best songs ever. She's one the most underrated musical icons in the history of music, and she will forever be missed.
what an absolute treat that was to see you see and hear this for the first time. it's a class act of a track. the back story to the making of the video is just wild too! the band was in turmoil at this point. love your channel. keep it up. Cheers ;)
I was pleasantly surprised to discover how good their album “ Behind The Mask”(1990) was. My favorite song on it is “Do You Know” which features Christine and new band member Billy Burnette laying down the most beautiful vocals. The way their voices blend is just stunning and it’s so heartfelt !
@@tikneshiabeauford7289 Good to know someone feels the same ! I consider it up there with any other FM love songs, but it flies under most people’s radar. I found out all my favorite songs on BTM were either written or co-written by Billy Burnette. He seems to have had a refreshing influence on the band.
This band was truly blessed to have two amazing female singer/songwriters. While Stevie Nicks' voice is hypnotic, Christine McVie's is angelic, yet they're both equally enchanting. So it's easy to see how they can get you into your "feels", Salvo.
Christine in fact has as many or more hits than the other two combined. She was known as the queen of hooks, as her melodies could "hook" the listener into wanting more. If this brought tears to your eyes, try her song "As Long As You Follow": ua-cam.com/video/ROGEHq1WZqU/v-deo.html ( Fleetwood Mac - As Long As You Follow (Official Music Video) )
Lifelong FWM fan here for over 50 years. My regret, never saw them perform live. The band has attracted multi-generational fans. There will never be another story like this..... from Peter Green with Jeremy Spencer to Bob Welch and then on to the Lyndsey Buckingham with Steve Nicks era with some Christine & John McVie and Mic Fleetwood holding it all down. Always felt Christine was the soul of the band in her quiet demeanor with Mic Fleetwood pulling the strings like a puppeteer in piecing this band together from the 60s and into the 70s.. I never grow tired of listening to this band........ NEVER! Favorite songs, Over My Head sung by the incomparable Christine McVie, Hypnotized sung by bob Welch, Silver Springs sung by Stvie Nicks & then Need Your Love performed by Peter Green. Must-listens: Everywhere, Dreams, Sara, Little Lies, Landslide, Silver Springs, You Make Loving Fun, Hypnotized, Albatross, Think About Me, and many, many, many more! Great reaction, TY.
Little Lies is a great song, but I think her best song is Christine McVie - Got A Hold On Me (Official Music Video) [HD]. It not from her Fleetwood Mac work but from one of her solo albums. The song charted #1 on Mainstream US Rock and #10 on the Hot 100 in 1984.
Remembering 1987… I was a young guy but this song and the whole album was blowing me away. For me, tango in the night, ist one of my all time favourite album. Everywhere, big love, seven wonders, tango in the night…. Sooooo many perfect songs. Timeless and brilliant. When I listen to it I’m back in my childhood and I cry a lot. Music makes the people come together
And this configuration was last minute. Stevie heard the album and complained she wasn't on it except for her songs. Christine rightly said - you weren't here. So Lindsey recorded Stevie's vocals and did another arrangement.. We don't have the original version so no telling who sang Stevie's lines before, might have been Christine or Lindsey or both. Doubtful they were just added or Lindsey would have had to re-arrange the music as well.
Great song, great reaction. I can relate to your tears this song always makes me cry too. Fleetwood brings powerful emotions out. You should do Sara next another great song. Trouble by Lindsey is unforgettable too.
Absolutely one of my favorite songs by Fleetwood Mac. Christine is soooooo wonderful in this song. She is missed!! RIP Christine! And love your reactions!!! Keep up the excellent work!
Although Stevie Nicks usually gets most of the attention as a solo artist from the band Fleetwood Mac, Christine McVie had a beautiful, haunting voice as well and some of her songs are every bit as good as Stevie's and just as emotional. Fleetwood Mac truly was an incredibly talented group of musical artist.
Christine McVie is really their secret weapon. Yeah, Stevie is fabulous, and so is Lindsey. But as I get older, it's Christine that stays with me. Her voice is so soothing, her piano playing so smooth. Before Buckingham/Nicks joined, she did all the heavy lifting for songwriting when the band was going through troubles with certain band mates. I highly recommend Come A Little Bit Closer off of the album Heroes Are Hard To Find, which is the last album made before Stevie and Lindsey joined.
Love Christine but she didn't do the heavy lifting pre Lindsey & Stevie. Post Peter Green, Danny Kirwan and then Bob Welch did the majority of the songs. Christine was good for 2 or 3 then later 4 cuts per album. She said she wrote just as many songs were needed for a specific album or project. Interesting on Tango though she and Lindsey wrote several extra songs for Tango - probably because they were the only band members consistently there and they wondered what they were going to get if anything from Stevie. Come a Little Bit Closer and especially Why are my favorites of her earlier songs.
This song takes me back to the late 80's as a teenager. Every time I hear it brings me back to a more simple and carefree time in my life. I know Stevie deeply misses Christine as she mentioned the other night on stage. RIP Christine! You are so missed. ❤
Tango In The Night is one of my favorite Fleetwood Mac albums, its just full of what you call "bangers". Especially the title track, but love this song too.
You have to check out Brown Eyes,Think About Me and Over and Over off the Tusk album. RIP Christine! Her solo album is great too! Love Will Show Us How and Got a Hold on Me are gems!
They were so good when all three singers had distinctive parts in a song. If I can share my favorite McVie song, it would have to be "Brown Eyes" from Tusk in 1979. This was probably IMO the best song from "Tango." Stevie was walking wounded from nearly dying the year before and Lindsey was ready to, yes, go his own way from the FM madness. Christine turned in some beauties on this album.
Christine said she liked her love songs to possibly not be love songs and her non love songs to possibly be love songs depending on how you read the lines. That Little Lies inspiration was about Lindsey leaving the band wrapped up in the trappings of a love song. That she and probably the rest knew he was leaving even though he hadn't told them yet and this song was directed toward him. She wanted to hear lies that he was staying.
How many noticed Lindsey walking away in the video as she sings, "We're better off apart." ? For those who don't know, this was his last video before leaving the band.
You’ll have to do 7 Wonders now. Was Lindsey’s last video after he left the band, which explains him tearing up. Excellent song too, led by Stevie 🥰🥰😎🌻🐨🇦🇺
This is my favorite song by them. At the pinnacle of their powers together. It's rare for a band to have 3 lead vocalists, and I can't think of another band (except the Beatles) that has had a variety of Top 10 hits where each of them has been the lead on at least one. AND all 3 leads have also had solo Top 10 hits. Think my favorite thing of all about this song is that all 3 leads have solo lines, showcasing each voice. A masterpiece. Love the whole "Tango In The Night" album. I think it's their best alongside "Rumours", a decade apart.
You got to listen to "Songbird" Salvo. It's one of the most beautiful songs ever written, EVER!! So grab a box of tissues because you're going to need to listen to that masterpiece.
Salvo you’re amazing! I love your channel especially when it comes to Fleetwood Mac. What an amazing time to be alive when this band released a new album and it was all over the radio. Your reaction to this was authentic and emotional which in turn made me emotional. If I could subscribe twice I would.
Stevie was the star, but Christine was the heart & soul. She actually wrote most of their biggest hits.. They always closed their concerts with just her on piano singing her song “Songbird”
awww thx salvo g ! for loving great music ! love sharing your journey ! OH MY goodness! wow ! and i saw that tear in ur eye! THATS what music does to us ! music is the best ! cant wait for more ! and BTW- nice mickey shirt ! lol - mickey is my hero ! lol ! im havin a salvo G night ! - thx
GREAT reaction Salvo!! My how I miss Christine! (RIP) - her voice (and keys) were such an integral part to the Fleetwood Mac's sound! Absolutely irreplaceable! I've loved this song since first hearing it when it came out. My sister was quick to buy the cassette and we listened to it all tons of times!! For some other Christine gems, highly recommend: As Long As Your Follow, Isn't It Midnight (also from Tango) Cheers.
I am watching you react to this video for the 12th time and LMFAO!!!! Everyone in this band including Lindsay who looks at you makes you cry...and it's funny to watch the effects.....Great reaction.
I 100% understand! Fleetwood Mac is my all time favorite band ❤ Pink Floyd at a close #2 lol The way they blend their vocals and the production is just phenomenal!!!
Hi Mr Salvo again. Somehow you find to the music I love and in fact I bought this album from Fleetwood Mac way back 1987 when I was still a young lad. I had bought to myself in about 1983/1984 my first CD player with the money I have spareded from my holiday works in firms and even in farms, But this whole album was a smash and this particular song indeed. I just loved tehir harmonies and the layered singing. This is music where you can just swell and even fell a sleep with good feelings. Thank you my man Salvo!
One of Christine’s earlier songs pre Buckingham Nicks, “Why” is such a beautiful song. There are live versions on UA-cam with Stevie and Lyndsey singing backup harmonies. Check it out.
Hold Me from thet Mirage Album sung by McVie is another gem that's worth listening, I first heard this song (Little Lies) when it came out, i knew that it was a Mac song because of Stevie's "Tell me lies" in the backing vocals.
SalvoG: Please listen to more and more Christine Mc Vie (and Christine Perfect) music. She was phenomenal, and words can't describe. I fell in love with her music in 1975 and have never recovered (LOL). Also, do some research to learn more about her life, in general. She was a wonderful person and is missed by soooo many.
She also sings another song called, as long as you follow, which is beautiful. I think Lindsey put out an album in the 80s. The song I remember is called Trouble.
I bought Tango In The Night the day it dropped at Hastings. Wore that cassette out, and 2 more. Stevie was the visual beauty to me, but Christine was the beautiful talent who drove them. Watch her perform "Songbird" live on the Mirage tour (1982). It's just her, her song, and a piano. Have a great day.
A magical song, Fleetwood Mac knows how to surprise, the 1987 album "Tango in the Night" was a commercial success, with pop elements, the song "Big Love" from the same album is also good and sounds unusual, in general the album is very good, one of the best Fleetwood Mac.
Mick & John may have the band named after them and Stevie & Lindsey may have helped give them their greatest success, but Christine McVie was (in my opinion) the heart of Fleetwood Mac. I've always preferred her songs the most out of all their songwriters in all of their iterations.
What can I tell you about this band which I experienced coming into the music scene that you have already discovered and know.....and now you know why fans of Fleetwood Mac morn the death Christine McVie///R.I.P. She was a force in Fleetwood Mac as a Songwriter and musician and singer!!! But the whole band is "Magical." I have seen Fleetwood Mac in concert 4 times.....1 time in the 90's and 3 times in the 21st century. And even though I don't have this album ...I have heard songs from this album lots of times in concert....and times flow from my eyes all the time....and I am not alone!!! I love their songs....I love how they deliver and perform their songs....they are and have AMAZING in concert....so good live.....that I couldn't explain it to my friends or co-workers....I had to take them to the concerts to let them experience Fleetwood Mac....and watching my friends and neighbors react with tears of excitement in their eyes to Fleetwood Mac was just Amazing!!!! I wish I could have taken you there!!! It's unexplainable!!! lol....hahaha...your next reaction to this album should be>>> "Everywhere" Great song!!!
Another great song that showcases Christine McVie is "Everywhere".
I sang it at my wedding 😄
My all time favourite FM song! Pretty sure he's reacted to this already
It’s a perfect song
Great writer, great singer, Christine was a very important thread throughout the life of Fleetwood Mac. So very sadly missed.

Another great Fleetwood Mac song sung by Christine Mcvie is "Say You Love me". Think you should check that one out next.
A haunting melody. Makes me strangely sad. A feeling of loss.
Christine and Lindsey are THE MAGIC in Mac!!!
So much talent wrapped up in that one band. Each member was a force in their own right. It's hard to pick a favorite when each of them had solid and memorable contributions.
'Everywhere' and 'you make loving fun' arw also Christine vocals. Fleetwood Mac is awesome.
You Make Loving Fun. Favorite next to Dreams…

Christine McVie was one of my favorite vocalists. Miss her very much...but love the music she left behind for us.
Their ‘Mystery to Me’ album remains one of my favorites of all time and Christine McVie is a big part of the reason why.

I was a teenager in the 80's. I had no idea how unique and awesome our music would turn out to be. It was all original.
Christine was the beating heart of that band

Stevie was the star, but Christine was the heart & soul. She actually wrote most of their biggest hits.. They always closed their concerts with just her on piano singing her song “Songbird”
Christine didn't want to be out front. It was her choice.
One of the best bands ever

When all my friends wanted to be Stevie Nicks…I wanted to be Christine McVie. She’s always been the greatest in my eyes.
I saw this line-up (the best for me ) in 2015 in Antwerpen unforgetable concert

See, other channels? That's how you do a song reaction.
She also sings another song called, as long as you follow, which is beautiful. I think Lindsey put out an album in the 80s. The song I remember is called Trouble.
My introduction to the band ❤
I bought Tango In The Night the day it dropped at Hastings. Wore that cassette out, and 2 more.
Stevie was the visual beauty to me, but Christine was the beautiful talent who drove them.
Watch her perform "Songbird" live on the Mirage tour (1982). It's just her, her song, and a piano.
Have a great day.
I wish I hadn’t grown up knowing this song so I could have had your reaction. It really is a banger. ❤
You HAVE TO do Seven Wonders!
But the whole band is "Magical."
