Although my views on blade length versus Bens differ greatly as I also prefer a blade length at least at 3.5 inches, I respect his attitude of self maintained tools and not relying on manufactures to handle sometimes often menial issues like cleaning/oiling, broken omega type springs, needing extra hardware due to screws working their way out, etc. He definitely has that can do mindset and is awesome for setting people up with quality knives and access to the parts and knowledge they would need to repair and maintain their knives. I wish more companies would have his mindset.
I've never had the honor of owning one but would love to and as you said most are small and I have very big hands
